Although I have no regrets in my Special Forces Navy for 27 years of service, I consider myself Damaged Goods with irreparable permanent injuries for life. 8 overseas missions to both Iraq & Afghanistan. It just doesn't matter. They always win or make it harder for us vets men & women.

Brilliant, Chris, thank God He's using you to help out all us vets. Wish I knew about the '8 step ladder' ten years ago, but for future use, thanks to you Chris, not only myself, but many, many more vets will now be able to stack the odds more in our favor vice the VA, thanks for the huge 'Hope' inoculation...!

I got denied because: "Lack of continuity of care" ... even though the initial injury occured during service, went to sick call, was denied xrays and i have them written down where i asked, xrays when i got out, hospitalized several times after service because of the same back issues... But lack of continuity of care. Then filed appeal and 7 year wait in california and never heard a word back. That was 5 year ago at least. Now ive been in idaho 2 years and have to refile a new claim and go again. What do i need to do?

Davin Gladwell , hello David, my name is John, I served in the us army from 1980 to 1983 my mos was 11c 81 motors due to the pounding of rounds within the barrel I have lost some of my hearing. Oh let me mention I was the gunnery so my ear was approx 3 to 4 inch's from barrel. The VA pays me 10 percent which is 134' 00 monthly. I've received this amount since 1983 . What I'm wanting to know is this, how do I go about getting a higher pay beings it didn't happen Durning war time. Please sent me some feed back on this I've been jumping through hoops or get sweated user the carpet. If you can be of any help then please help me if you can. Thank you,

@@johnzomparelli7198 36K, 31K and 31D, 1983-89. Spent 2 years with the 101st in an artillery battery. I get 10% for one ear. Last year I was given hearing aids for both ears. To me that is an admition that both ears are damaged but the claim process is rediculess. Hope you are able to get things approved. I'm still trying.

@@joeycarr1398 Well, for years they told me that I wasn't deaf enough. I've received 10% since 1990 and wasn't given hearing aids until 2018. Hearing aids are nice but do absolutely nothing for the non stop ringing in my ears. Imagine the sound of cicadas on a hot summer day. Now, imagine the sound of thousands of cicadas 24/7. I've gotten used to it and that's just the way it is. The VA in Milwaukee, WI is vastly different than the VA in Syracuse, N.Y. The VA in Milwaukee was amazing when I was treated for cancer. For me it's not about the money. I would trade the 10% in a heartbeat if I could have the ringing in my ears go away.

Well presented, and greatly respected, is this effort to do "something". Knowledge is power. Educated and experienced advocates are needed in cases where the vet is unable, by reasons of impaired articulation, or brain trauma to find justice. Where are the gifted souls that can help severely depressed vets with no family or causational knowledge of a rise in suicides, and homelessness? There are empathetic, knowledgeable, and devoted souls that are committed to and succeeding at, making a difference, if only by lifting one life at a time. The ones that use their gifts in this niche are rare and are rewarded. Much gratitude for all you do. @Cris Attig.

The best thing you can do is obtain copies of your medical records review them YOURSELF highlight or circle any documentation in them pertaining to what you are claiming and submit those records with your claim ! Imagine if you had to go through thousands of documents trying to find evidence to get the veteran an exam it's very difficult and takes time but if you screen your records it helps move things faster if you are within one year of eas they will order exams for everything ! If you are outside of a year of eas you must have medical records from service or private dr during time of service in order to get an exam ordered, also statements in support of claims va form 21-4138 can also allow you to write and further explain your case read and educate yourself and get a VEteran service organization they will assist you in the paper work process and are able to access your claim and keep you updated on the process ! If you served you deserve benefits but no one is going to do it for you !

Any one mind my mentioning talking to my doctors, Getting a low cost legal service and VFW was a big help. But just being honest even if I can fake it effectively. LS is 25 an month, VFW/Legion/or... We need more I agree, got some wild ideas but need a mentor my mind is a pain in the ass right now. :) I did see what my volunteer, needed to do with the paper work highlighting stuff cause my eye's and attention span are off on like a slot machine. thank YOU! so MUCH... for the well said Video too. It help me grasp what I was watching my wife help me with. the my first two not only refused to do... But they took advantage of them and damaged me more. But I repaired some on my own. too!! I could only get a 3 year enlistment for a small reason I was honest about.

When I got my first hearing test, the person giving the test got very mad if I did not push the button showing that I heard the sound. I put in a letter in telling what happen. Then a doctor gave me the test I got 10% which does not help. When I retired, my son moved back home and his sister with her husband and now has two kids. Me and my wife buy all the food, make the hose payment, pay for the gas & electric. I wanted to be able to go camping and fishing. Now don't have the money to do that any more. It was my wife who let them move in.

I parachuted into Eglin AFB back in 1979 and had a partial malfunction hitting the ground very hard. I was hauled away to the base hospital by gammagoat. However, my home base, Ft Bragg, didn't have records of my injuries. Today, the VA claims there are no records of my fractured femur and thus refuses compensation. Over the years, I have been dealing with terrible hip pain. The VA hospital found last year, I have a disfunctional S-I joint and say it is an old injury. Only jumping could have created this injury. I guess I need to find a lawyer, because I cannot work because of this injury. Your recommendations?

It's crazy. I was diagnosed with PTSD by a civilian doc. Put on prozac. Talked to a counselor and he explained that i was stuck in high cortisol brain function. Then i went to a psychiatrist and after 45 mins he wanted me to go er at the local hospital. Shocker! When i went to the va about my initial claim, they said i made too much money last year to qualify for benefits. Haha. If i hadn't gone into to va eligibility office and tell them i haven't been able to work 90 days bc of this crap. They changed my coding in the system. Now i take the next step to see if they're going to really help me. I'm uncertain and scared depending on the va?!

I knew a few veterans who were homeless, they were old so i figured they liked living like that. However, one day I went into the directors office at the Houston Texas veterans hospital, and the director himself quickly hid some papers under something on his desk. As he whisped out of the office saying he'll be right back(attempting to distract me from what he just did), I distracted him by asking his secretary to go get something I needed. I saw it was banking documents, with a foreign account number and a name, I snooped around and found that he was denying vets their benefits saying they were not eligible any longer, yet still keeping their claims, and sending the money off shore for him and the finance officer to share. Not sure if he killed himself or what. But corruption is rampid and takes many forms fellas.

I filed almost 9 years ago, and after repeating the filing process over 15 times now after the local v.a. (lost it) I'm now back at square one, and the v.a. is claiming I never filed and they have no record of me ever filing. I took the last year off from chasing the carrot on the string bullshit. I'm debating getting a lawyer, but can't afford one.

If you haven't received treatment why should they increase it. Look up DBQ'S FOR IT. That way you know what they are looking for. There are other issues you can file for too. Worse case sena Rio the local Bar has lawyers that help, for free. No need for probono lawyers. But they are out there. Good luck.

I just got 40% Disability with no Records on file. They never sent them to National Archives to be kept on Record. Go to the national archives center website. www.archives.gov/veterans. Request all of your Military personnel records including Military Medical Records. It will take about 4-6 weeks to get them sometimes longer. Once you have those records or if you have your personal records examine them. Any Ailments that you're dealing with Focus on those first. All you have to do is a get a rating decision, then work on the percentage of that disability in baby steps. Go to a VA Office Google or Bing one that's in your area or look for an VA Advocate to help you with this. Hope this helps you because I went with no records because lesson one THE VA IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!!! Good Luck Brother!!!

Depends. Do you already have that diagnosis? If not then you will get turned down for sure because self-diagnosis won’t work. If you are claiming PTSD instead of anxiety then this will be more difficult. The VA will need to know about the event stressor that caused your PTSD & will need proof the event happened. Examples of proof: (1) You saw combat, (2) the event was described in newspapers, magazines, televised news reports, etc. (3) You filed a police report & have a copy (4) Eye witness statements (5) You were raped while in service & sought medical care because of it (6) You witnessed a death while in service & have documentation you witnessed it [ie. you had to give a statement to investigators would serve as proof], (6a) You submit a copy of the obituary of the person who died to show that you witnessed the death & they did indeed die (7) Maybe you didn’t witness a death but you witnessed a catastrophic injury & the person ended up dying, became severely disabled, or had a limb amputated. (8) You witnessed a rape while on duty. (9) You served in Vietnam. In which case you should file for every ache & pain that you have a diagnosis for. Also, get an attorney if you saw combat during Vietnam War. No joke.

Useless and condescending. Nothing but platitudes and self promotion. Not a single shred of proof that any of this is of value. Read this talk to that one. Do your homework? After 40 years you are less help than anyone else you mention.
