the reason why they do not want to mention Led Zeppelin at any time is because the people and the media talk too much about being the reincarnation or a copy of Led Zeppelin, you have to understand they are just developing musicians with a great talent, they do not want to be label as the new Led Zeppelin, they simply want to make their music, their own style and it shows that it is their passion.

They may take the Zep style to another place, but don't try to deny the influences. It does not look good. Embrace it or move away from it.

TransientClassic Amen!! Today's music is usually mainstream and just put together for money, my opinion. The 80s were an experiment, then people got politically pissed off...that was the 90s...then it's like everybody kinda went "whatever, the world's crazy fucked up" and that's why today's music sounds like there's no talent. Greta Van Fleet comes onto the scene, and everybody's trying to cut them off because, oh heaven forbid, they sound like the past. I happen to like them BECAUSE they sound the way they sound. Way to go, you guys!!

If you want more great rock from bands that are active check out King gizzard (tours a lot and all incredibly talented and play many instruments and styles, every album is unique) Ween(have not announced 2019 tour yet but rumor has it they have new material being worked on, either way they put on the best rock shows ive ever seen, usually playing 3 hours and covering so much ground in terms of genres. Highly recomend) Primus or anything with les claypool- he always makes whatever he plays sound funky as fuck, whether its thrasher or bluegrass Mac demarco- check out freaking out the neighborhood Kaleigh baker - pitton pistol. Also amazing live shows, specially if you live in florida she is always playing in orlando with her band

Katie gourley they’re god musicians but why do they have to be Led Zeppelin????? There’s having influences and hiss taking it to an unhealthy level. They need to be original instead of copying the entire vibe and vocalist persona of Led Zeppelin. Geez. How can you not see that. It’s decent music but Led Zeppelin is like the real version so who cares about these guys?! They’re only popular because they wholly base their sound off Led Zeppelin and they’re using it to their advantage to get famous without anything original about them at all. I sure wish my cover band would take off like that…

And for all the Led Zeppelin rip off comments, just keep in mind that half of Zeppelins catalog are other people songs, and their sound wouldn't have been made possible without directly copying American Blues. Page and Plant would be the first ones to tell you that. So in essence you're whining about who stole from the person who stole from the person who stole

IAmStoned I saw a zeppelin at Market square Arena in 1977 in Indianapolis. Is that good enough for you? Jimmy Page was the most in-demand session guitarist in London in the mid-to-late 60s because he could mimic American blues rock guitar better than anyone. Robert Plant sang in a cover band that the Name Escapes me right now, that did a lot of Blues covers Howlin Wolf, Etc when he was recruited by Page. Douchebag, listen to me! Do you know what the first song that these four musicians played together when they met at Jimmy Page's estate in 1968? Train kept a-rollin. The American Blues classic. The first song they ever played together according to the book Hammer of the Gods. Sure they develop their own sound. But they were also one of the most influenced bands that there ever were. In fact in an interview in Rolling Stone Robert Plant was talking about his relationship with Alison Krauss and Union Station by saying that he believes he was an American blues man in a former life. Led Zeppelin is no different than the Rolling Stones. Completely an absolutely built on the foundation of American Blues. In fact, skiffle, which is what all these English musicians grew up on, is a folk style of music that uses 12 Bar Blues and other Blues progressions. So do you think I have a clue now you stupid douchebag? Did you ever see Zeppelin in person? The only one in the band The could ever even claim the weren't purely American Blues was John Paul Jones who fancies himself a jazz musician and keyboardist before he took up bass for Studio work. But then again, jazz is also distinctly American. So obviously you don't have any idea what you're actually f****** talking about. When the band Spirit recently sued Led Zeppelin because of the similarities between their song and the intro to Stairway to Heaven, the biggest reason everybody knew they would be found innocent is because if Spirit could successfully sue them, then so could be estate of every single Blues performer that lived in the first half of the 20th century, because they influence Zeppelin that much too. Saying that Led Zeppelin is not almost purely influenced by American Blues is like saying Elvis Presley was not influenced by American Blues. When Robert Plant first met Jimmy Page Robert Plant went through Jimmy Page's record collection and was amazed that Jimmy had all these old original pressings of Robert Johnson, Howling Wolf, Leadbelly, Etc. You have absolutely no f****** idea what you're talking about.
@matthewmcpeek7324
@matthewmcpeek7324 6 жыл бұрын
IAmStoned so you're some f****** douchebag that claims that I regurgitate everything that I read online. I was an expert about the ship before there even was an online, you douchebag! I was going to concerts when computers were only for the government and major corporations, I grew up reading books and listening to records. This band might sound a lot like Zeppelin, which is true, but you know what? You can tell they're not trying to rip Zeppelin off, because I haven't heard this band play any covers. And also, they are not engineered in the studio to sound like Zeppelin. If you want someone who actually used the studio engineering to try to mimic Zeppelin, you need to look no farther than the 80s band Kingdom Come. Now that was a band that tried to rip off Zeppelin. In fact I've already been through this argument 30 years ago about bands like Kingdom Come and Whitesnake especially. David Coverdale made a career mimicking Robert Plant. But then again, I saw White Snake at Deer Creek North of Indianapolis in 89, I believe 88 or 89. Were you even born then douchebag?

"This band might sound a lot like Zeppelin, which is true, but you know what? You can tell they're not trying to rip Zeppelin off, because I haven't heard this band play any covers." - Well then let me enlighten you. There are dozens of videos of them playing Zeppelin songs on KZbin. Not just performing the studio version either, but playing live versions. Go see for yourself. The guitarist of GVF also said in an interview he spent thousands of hours learning every lick Jimmy Page ever played. This band started off doing ONLY Zeppelin covers. So, you're WRONG!
@matthewmcpeek7324
@matthewmcpeek7324 6 жыл бұрын
IAmStoned could be wrong about Greta Van Fleet not playing covers, I never claimed to be an expert on that band. And sure there are similarities, but if you think this is the first band that people have tried to accuse of sounding like Zeppelin, well, you haven't been alive very long. You met page. Yeah, I'm sure you clipped his toenails. He only Rose to Fame in the first place because he could mimic guitar sounds. You understand that? Mimic. This is a stupid f****** conversation because the only person that can say they weren't influenced by anybody is whoever taught Robert Johnson how to play a guitar. In the only people who have been truly ripped off our American Blues men. And since you aren't old enough to have seen many of the Great bands I've seen live let me tell you something else since yourself are such as Zeppelin expert. The only time I ever saw them was that show in Market Square Arena, and it was a very ordinary concert. They didn't really sound that good at all and most people walked out of there thinking the same thing that I did. A lousy show, because years later we know that page was strung out on H, and Bonhomme lived his life as a full-time alcoholic. And they played 20-minute versions of a few of their hits and on at least two of them they went in to Elvis Presley Blues medleys. The grand f****** point I am trying to make is that for as much borrowing a zeppelin did, nobody has the right to say that someone doesn't have the right to borrow off of them. Heart played a lot of Zeppelin covers. Do they suck as well? And I promise you I am stoned or whatever your stupid name is, if you met me in person you would not call me buttercup

J. Church their are great rock bands today no one really talks about. They’re not famous cuz they came out with a decent album. They’re famous because they’re an obvious knockoff of one of the best rock bands in history. They’re not trying to be original. And it’s just not really cool. I’ve seen better Led Zeppelin cover bands. And I know I know. They’re not a direct cover band. But totally ripping off a sound of such a great band just isn’t cool. Rock should be evolving. Andrew O They grew up pretty much on the same blues artists Led Zeppelin was heavily influenced by (because of their dad, who is a huge blues man), so no fucking wonder they have the same old classic rock sound to them. I've seen a lot of their live shows and interviews, they're really humble and chill guys who are really passionate about what they're doing, success came to them unexpectedly and they're floored by it. And no one's saying rock isn't evolving, there are so many great rock bands out there- both famous and not

This video is three years old but I have recently become obsessed with this band. It's so exhausting to explain over, and over again that they are not a cover band. The new album is beautiful, and I don't think Led Zeppelin has ever produced songs like that. They have their own unique sound, he may have the ability to sound like Led Zeppelin but this doesn't mean he's any less talented. I try to get people to listen to their new album but they are so closed-minded they won't even give it a chance because they are a "cover band." It's truly upsetting and I hope they become more successful than they already are now.

Immediately before seeing this interview I watched a performance of GVF at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. I remembered how in 1981 I had driven more than 1300 miles to be there on the night of my 21st birthday to see John Denver. Then, to my surprise, I see this video and Josh mentions John Denver among his 3 greatest influences. Did not expect that. About all I can say is, "Far out!"

Yeah, Josh’s voice sounds a lot like Plant’s. But, come on. They’re not copying anything from zeppelin. Give their music a REAL listen, there’s just WAAAY more blues inspiration from way before zeppelin that they try to emulate just like zepp did. These guys are brand new

I think imo the reason why they don’t mention a single word about Led Zeppelin is because they are already being compared to Zep, and if they mention that then people will more likely point out that they are just a ripoff of Led Zeppelin. They don’t wanna be called ripoffs of Zeppelin because who does? They want to be their own thing so that they could really make a mark, but that’s just my opinion though

I love them. You can tell that they as a really young band we’re influenced by zeppelin in their early early years. That’s just who their influence was. Once they got comfortable as a band they were able to take their influence and make it their own as heard on their newest album. They are outstanding and such an important band now. Unreal talent
