Guess I'm late to the party but I still wanted to comment on this video because we have a 2018 RED. I have to say that AZExpert really nailed this one. We have a different floor plan but most of what he pointed out have been things that I really would like to change. The spyder system is great about half the time because it gives you a central point of control for everything in the coach. However, when you are sitting in a seat and decide you need more light, its crazy to have to get up and walk across the room to turn the light on. This happens a lot and becomes a major nuisance. Also the small showers that are further crippled by the oversized seat in the shower. I guess some folks like to sit while showering, but I suspect most do not, so you end up with half the floor space you could have had in the shower taken up by a seat you do not use. There was actually a company in Red Bay that was making a business out of cutting out these seats and reglassing the shower without it. And that microwave light is truly bright! We tape paper over it any time we have guests sleeping on the fold out. Last but not least, we have the front TV unplugged most of the time because of the remote problem. Having said all that, these problems are good ones to have compared to some issues I have experienced in previous RVs so a big thumbs up to Tiffin.

Your list was good. The accent lights on the Phaeton are separated in the ceiling. Light issues are solved in the Phaeton... 😃. USB locations are better in the Phaeton, but the same issue with the blue light. The microwave light is the worst...I agree, but a little window tint works perfect. Entry light...put the kids in a tent ⛺️😂. You already woke them up because you made coffee too! Engine brake switch should be on the steering wheel, where it is always near your hand. I have the same complaint for my 2016 Silverado P/U. The light configuration issues you brought up could all be fixed by a software update, which is pretty cool, unless there is no one to make the change available... The bright blue lights are annoying, but can be quick-fixed with some semi-transparent tape to help dim them. The wiper knob can be fixed with some JB Weld and a larger knob, but yet another kludge on an otherwise refined MH. Great review on what is *still* a fantastic MH - but now I want one, so I have to blame you for that!

Its 12:27 am and I'm binge watching your videos in no particular order..as a full timer floor plan and lets call it gizmo placement is very important to me also..so your right on par with these issues..my peeves are putting the sink/stove next to the dinette or couch and I'm going to bash my beloved Winnebago..what's with the back rest of the drivers seat hitting the slide when its in..I'm 6'2 and I have to scoot the seat up once in so I can lean the back rest back..both my 99 and 05 have the same issue..any other coaches have this issue? and last is more of a concern..these touch screen control panels in newer coaches..what happens in 10 years and they move on to bigger and better and those panels are nowhere to be found when they fail..except in a salvage yard....maybe ? its not like replacing a switch 🤔

Good points, but as far as the exhaust brake, turn it on when you start the engine and just leave it on. It won't hurt anything and will make your brakes last much longer! I always activate my exhaust brake in my GMC Duramax every time I get in. Though GM put the switch all the way toward the passenger side of the switch bank and the adjustable pedals (that you can't use while driving) closest to the driver. Seems brains were in short supply at Tiffen and GM LOL. And all those bright lights...man...the quality looked great but the design looked rushed.

sometimes it's nice to creep or cruise without the delay of the transmission up shifting and turbo having to spool back up

@@AZExpert moving the switch would be a good idea either way. At least it looks like it's possible...on the switch bank in my truck they're all solid state, they can't be moved, almost 3 years later and I'm still pissed that GM put that switch to the far right, leaving one you can't use while driving closest to the driver. Dumb. So, based on other comments that motorhome was a wreck?

Interesting comments. We just traded a 2019 Tiffin 32SA gasser in for a 2017 Tiffin Red 33AA. I really did not care for the Spyderco system on the 2019 as I was already having issues with control panels and wiring. It’s pretty, easy to read, but will get pricy to fix. The T handles on cabinets drove me crazy on the 2019. Constantly being loose and turning like you had. The 2017 has the standard round knobs - love ‘em. So far, the only thing I have found questionable on the Red is like you stated on the dinette lighting. Switch positioning does not make a lot of sense. I Enjoy your channel!

Gah, I want t know all the items. Otherwise, what a luxurious vacation! I hope your wife enjoyed it too. It’s obvious you did. And I’m 5’8” so that shower faucet would be my first fix (after the super simple switch swapping for the exhaust brake). I work in the truck fleet repair industry, now I’m going to start looking into that wiper switch issue. We have a variety of Freightliners, Sterlings, Hino’s and other heavy trucks to compare. We also get motorhomes too since we aren’t strictly fleet oriented.

I am glad the shake down cruise went very well and you had a good time. The one item that I think may be a handicap issue is the shower, the valve has to be at a certain height and the larger handles help with older peoples hands like on doors now you have the lever instead of a knob. If you can get a wiring schematic for the bus you can tell if the lighting would be easy or difficult to do. Stay safe thanks for your videos it has helped me with my thinking about future RV. The wiper switch could be swapped out I would think but the knob may be to ugly for Tiffin.

Yup, that goofy setup of the lights would bug me too. FYI, RV Odd couple had recent videos on RV industry you may want to review for insight into newest data and stats. For example most RV are using their rig less than 30 days a year. Use translucent tape so that you can still see the display. An expensive kludge would be to use yellow mylar tape, which is for high-temperature applications, but we happen to have it around the shop. Actually any colored film could be taped over the display with transparent tape to help dim it. Like James said, there might be a setting in the microwave to dim it, if you can figure out how to access the right menu.

For safety reasons I don't drive with the armrest down. I want plenty of elbow room if I need to wrestle with the wheel in an emergency. Those light control panels are terrible. Bad access, multiple touches just to turn on/off. If you have old eyes you have to have your glasses to turn on the lights to find your glasses. When the system fails you probably will lose all access to all lights, dumb. I have been contemplating putting some window tint over the microwave light for about 6 year.
