I have 2 vehicles that are builders in the driveway. Both are older now but have ran fine for years. I also have a jeep that was rolled off a shelf road and I use it as a plow truck on the farm, no windshield, so it is cold but works. Stay safe and healthy.

Good job, looking like an RV again.. The resale value will go up just based on the fact that you guys are the ones putting it together. The investor was lucky on two counts, the parts and the experts to put it together. Thanks for bringing us along. We used to have an RV salvage yard in Florida and I always loved wandering around looking at the RVs. After seeing that I decided I would not run an rv gas fridge going down the road anymore.. just my preference.

We had a little incident that not be talked about, going thru a reststop in NM...and when we got home we called the manufacturer, and he said he could do it for about $500. But he is clear across the country...so we got it repaired locally here on Vancouver Island🇨🇦, we had a $300 deductable. The final price was $4300. Not only was it a crappy job, but highway robbery!!! It left a sour taste in our mouths so my hubby was suprised when I told him I watch a youtube channel about a rv repair center😲 but he says it is nice to see someone who takes pride in their work and he also really enjoys watching James The AZ Expert!!!

What would a “ballpark” figure be for just the repairs and parts??

Well initially I would have quoted the job around 66k. The salvage helped cut the price but then of course the additional damage is adding quite some more.

Was wondering. On the flip, our old coach is still worth north of 100K. Getting agreed value insurance was hard. it costs like a new coach would. I pay extra for so called VIP tow. Landoll coast to coast. Our coach is steel all but the front and back caps. I heard of early 80 PT 40s having late 80s caps transplanted to make them look newer. Visone is a good yard, but a bit expensive IMHO. Lucky to get the front clip like that. Looking good.
@AZExpert
@AZExpert 4 жыл бұрын
All RV salvage yards are expensive in my experience, they know what new parts cost and price very close to them. Of course I understand just in space and storage and labor. This should not be too difficult on insurance as it's new and has a "book" value. But that sort of thing is outside my normal wheel house.
@Graygeezer
@Graygeezer 4 жыл бұрын
It’s going to be good as new, maybe better. If it was totaled by the insurance company, it’ll probably get a salvage title. I don’t know about Arizona, but that’s what happens in my state.

I can't say leak proof, but most gel-coat fiberglass roofs are solid. Though I don't install it, rv roof armor spray on coatings should make a roof leak proof.

So , keep a eye on the frit on the back side of the windshield glass , inside fires all ways like to kill the frit and the glass starts to fall out . its all in how hot it gets and looking at the TV box you showed it did so its going to need both new windshields installed as the old one well have nothing to glue to any more , i have done many salvage title cars and RVs so to any one else thinking of doing this make 100% sure you do all your paper work right BEFORE you even start work , DMV can be dicks when it comes to where did you get the parts and so on so dont skip steps or you have a paper weight ...The frit is a black enamel band that is literally baked into the edges of the windshield glass, accompanied by the border of black dots you are wondering about. The purpose of the frit is to provide an etched surface that allows adhesive to bond to the glass.
@AZExpert

Salvage vehicles do not have any manufacturing warranty. What about systems or components?
@AZExpert
@AZExpert 4 жыл бұрын
the appliances would still carry the warranty from the original date of sale. Most warranty coverages that go past the first year are on the chassis, appliances, and some structure warranties. But even those are questionable after the first owner. I always recommend extended warranties, even the cheapest ones will generally pay for themselves has been my experience. Thanks!

This rig was totaled because the owner wanted it totaled and I would too. All you have to do is convince a repair shop to pump up the repair bill to 60% of the cost of a replacement. My guess is, $500-$1,000 cash under the table got that pumped up repair bill.
@AZExpert

I guess. It still seems crazy to me as 60% would still be north of $140k.

I'm surprised that if the heat did that much damage to the TV that it didn't also damage the dash. Rebuilds like that are good if purchased by the end user and you have abilities to do at least some work yourself....but once that title is "Branded" it will follow that coach the rest of it's life and most people won't even consider it on the used market.... But then again that's just my opinion. I'm sure based on the quality of the work you do it will still be very nice once finished. It would be nice sometimes if you gave a "general" idea of what some of your repairs run....I know there are lots of variables and no two jobs are the same.... But it would give someone an idea of repairs if someone was looking at a coach that say needed a fiberglass roof or rubber roof replaced. Just a thought.
