Brake dust and a pain getting in and out are race car issues, because pretty much that's what the 1LE is, a race car for the streets. I had similar issues with the C7 Z51 that made it a pain to daily. The shiny trim, ebrake, lack of storage and other minor things are what makes me look the way of the Mustang PP1. Now if only the Mustang handled as well and had a good 6MT.
@Kubs08237 жыл бұрын
The long door issue is because it's a coupe. Being that you came from a 4 door sedan, I think you're just not used to it. #1 - you can move the shifter from 1st all the way to the right and back into second to trip the system thinking you are shifting into 4th gear and actually let you shift into 2nd and save you $25 plus labor #4 - you can install a cat-back exhaust to eliminate the resonators in the mpp exhaust is your bumper to bumper runs out and would actually give it a little more horse power to the car Hope this helps someone out there!

I took a long test drive in this car. By the far the thing I hated about it was its practicality. I realize its lighter than the previous version but running errands in this car creates another chore. Ground clearance is almost nil so you always have to keep it away from curbs. Doors are long and visibility sucks. Just not a fun car for zipping around town to take care of stuff. I wouldn't want one has as my only car. On the open road it's great though.

+RP Productions this may sound weird, but.... To reduce the glare from those strips on your dash, grab some Scotch tape that's not shiny, and a razor blade. The sun shines directly in my face, every single day on my whole drive home from work. So, I had a brainstorm, and neatly ran a piece of tape all the way across my dash, made sure there's no air bubbles, and trimmed it up nice & neat with a razor blade. And, the result? Perfect. Works like a charm.

Just an FYI... You don't need that $25 part. You can shift from 1st to 2nd or even 3rd. Just on takeoff get RPM's up a little higher. Or just give a split second delay. Also feather the throttle just a bit and you are good also. The Camaro 1SS and 2SS also use the same LT1 engine as my Corvette Stingray. I have not had any issues with it not letting me shift to the gear I want. Since doing what I said.

Could not understand why the rear was side steeping while steeping on the gas at low speed while driving at lower 60F temperature, my 6th gen Camaro SS with narrower tires does not do that.

I don't get the hate on the skip shift feature. It's been on GM cars for years and only shows up if you baby it. I have a 15 1LE and the skip shift almost never pops up if you don't baby it off the line. Give it a little more throttle and rev above 3k rpm and the skip shift never engages.

1. gotta grab the 1-4 bypass ... nice 2. haha I've never tried to stick my head out he window .. it's annoying at starbucks though 3. I haven't noticed this 4. I only use stealth mode when i'll be leaving at like 4-5am ... I wish I could switch it to Stealth when the car is off .. I just have to remember to do that before I turn the car off the night before 5a. I had to take my driver out in my M3s, too. glad to know it fits at least! 5b. yep, totally hate the storage options ... total crap. 6. Coupes in general have long doors, but yeah, I have the same issue here! i'll definitey be destroying the upholstery on my bolsters.. oh well. 7. I've always hated the electronic parking brakes .. I like the mechanical feel as well but I've gotten used to this in my Audi S3 and 718S... you'll get used to it but still probably won't like it haha. 8. Brake dust hasn't ever bothered me because it's a known tradeoff for sweet brakes .. unless you go to carbon ceramics. things to add: - Hard to see a traffic light when you're first in line and fairly close (i.e. small intersection) - No nav ... should be included on everything by now - frameless rearview mirror ... looks odd - with a helmet I need to recline my seat more than i'd like to fit - didn't come with black bowties - wire harness is annoyingly close to my clutch foot when i'm on it these are things I've become accustomed to for the most part ... haven't taken it to the track yet, so can't wait to do that! took my 1SS last year which was a lot of fun, this will just be amazing!
@MrUltraworld7 жыл бұрын
I have one too. The way I drive, the skip shift rarely comes on. I got rid of it with a hand held tuner. I'm with you on the interior plastic chrome. I had the dealer fix my muffler. The console is a joke. I have a '05 GTO, so I'm used to the trunk and the long doors. Still, won't own a 2 dr. Change those brake pads. You can actually shorten brake distance a bit and keep your wheels cleaner.
@somdaarnaud7 жыл бұрын
2017 ss 1le here and I agree about all those points and mostly: - 1-4 shift is awful, every time!!! - at stoplights I litterally have to pull myself forward to see the light turn or go by cars around me! Besides those I haven't gotten that rattling noise you mention (npp exhaust) perhaps because I have mine in track at all times! I had the 2016 ss before trading it in for this 1le and it had the chrome wheels and then, the break dust was extremely noticeable, with those blacked out wheels though it sort of "blends in" until you have to wash it!
@lingkaizou55856 жыл бұрын
I believe i have those NPP rattle issue as well. It is obvious on local drive 40mph limit or less .When giving throttle a little deep, I can hear something like whistling noise from behind me, on both sides. On highway it is not noticeable, I guess road noise covers it. Well since everyone else have it, I can live with it then.
@udmbfckx29167 жыл бұрын
Agreed with the big door opening, small trunk opening and visibility....But I guess the #1 thing you should hate about your 1LE is the fact that most of the times, any Camaro SS 8 speed Auto will blow it away at the red light or while moving, which is how most 'racing' happens on the street...obviously track days is a totally different matter ;)
@mikaelafox61065 жыл бұрын
People seem to think it’s funny you mentioned the windows are so small, but what if something happens and that’s the only way out of the car? What about rear window visibility? Is that difficult at all?
@BlackwingDuck7 жыл бұрын
Dude, I have a 2016 SS, I agree with all of your points. But the long doors aren't that big of a deal if you set your exit mode to fully push your seat back/recline and lower your buckets. Once in that position it makes getting in and out much easier. I'm 6'2" and don't have any problems, even when parked right beside another vehicle.
@RPProductions7 жыл бұрын

The 1st to 4th thing is easy overcome by sticking in first just a bit longer, like normal driving. Only time it does it to me is when I am pussy footing to save gas, then I may as well shift to 4th anyway. Haven't really found a reason to stick my head out the window yet...you may be the first. E-brake is meh...don't really use mine anyway. Brake dust...yeah it sucks. Trunk opening...kind of a bummer, but I didn't buy it to haul big shit. Storage space...again didn't buy it for luxury road trip touring. Dash glare...haven't notice that as much as the hood glare... but don't have the wrapped hood like you. Doors....yeah they do suck...thought of getting lambo doors, but they're kinda gay... You have touched on some of the common complaints. Alot of size and smallish this that and the other is due to the awesome outside body styling of the car. So ya live with it ;)

@kenster8657 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can easily go to 3rd.
@kenster8657 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Hang onto first until you're over ~19-20 MPH and you can easily shift into 2nd. When the 1 to 4 note comes up, you can also choose to shift into 3rd and then back to 2nd if need be. This feature, while a bit of a nuisance. has really not hampered me at all. It actually was a clever thing that Chevy engineering did so we wouldn't have to pay the gas guzzler tax. Thank you Chevrolet!
@rocky62027 жыл бұрын
I skip from 1-3 alot, car is designed to shift from 1-4 at a predetermined range. Now if you go WOT when shifting from 1-4 then yeah kinda a problem and not the way it was designed. Otherwise as said it is DESIGNED to do so...

Especially the parking brake, which I did find out if you forget to disengage it and start going in 1st or reverse by using gas it will automatically disengage. Brake dust is stupid bad I will be getting CC pads at the very least. I got real close to getting a 1LE, but I wanted the vented seats and the blind spot sensors. btw : Love the Hyper Blue, but one last thing I would like to add is the paint is very VERY easy to chip. I've owned a ton of cars and I have never seen a paint show so many rock chips like this before... it's so bad I might change my mind on getting a ZL1 in a couple of years.

Weird, I have a 2016 SS and I don't have NPP valve rattle, and I have never noticed the chrome stripes reflecting on the window. The window size and trunk opening is another story, and is so bad that most of my friends don't even want to try to drive the car because they are so intimidated by the driving experience. I like going on road trips and will pull over at night and try and get a few hours of sleep as I go. That said, when I took my 2017 2ss on a round trip between Colorado and Oregon it was brutal. Your basically in a cockpit similar to a fighter jet it it does not lend itself to sleeping in. Lol. For all my future trips I will have to look for motels.

Does the 1LE (1SS) have the programmable seat modes? On my 2SS there's position 1 and 2 and a 3rd which puts the seat all the way back for getting in and out of the car when you can't open the door all the way.

Don't feel bad about the brake dust that is what you get with incredible braking same issue with my 2012 BMW X5 but that car can stop on a dime and it is super heavy. I am not a fan of Recaro seats I have a very wide back and they hurt me. The electronic brake is great but it takes time to get used to it, I am glad I have it in my X5 but initially it irritated me.

If you hate glare, you would hate my '14 Corolla S Plus.....The dash reflects light into your eyes, the shifter knob reflects light into your eyes, the "metal" trim reflects light into your eyes, so from like 12 pm to about 6 pm you're screwed.

Recently test drove the new Camaro for the firstTime and is definitely a lot fun.but what bothered me right off the bat was how small the windshield was compared to my challenger 15 r/t.they should have also kept the classic gauges,same thing with the mustang.overall awesome fun car but something I probably wouldn't daily drive.

So nice to see you out of the Scat. I have a 1LE and agree with your list but the positives far outweigh these piddly things. Great vid as usual

The skip-shift. This is a very dangerous "feature." This is in my Challenger and I can't tell you how many times it has almost caused accidents because I couldn't get into 2nd gear.

Brake dust...time for adams wheel cleaner video! As far as storage space, lack of that is to be expected but i could understand the hassle. Especially the doors, I have a coupe with big heavy doors. Getting out in tight spaces is a hassle at times or parking on an inverted surface guarantees the door flying back and hitting me.

Where did you get the 1LE emblems for the back and side of the car? I'm looking to replace the factory emblems on my 1LE and those really look good.

The other problem with the low roof is at traffic lights the roofline is exactly where the lights are so you can't see when the lights change. But worth it for the looks of the car i guess

My 09 Charger had same issue. I’d have to look up for the green at stop lights.

Are those 6 piston brakes optional on the 1LE? I notice they require a selection when building the car on their site.
