Watching this video makes me feel like its a troll video. We'll go through the complaints one at a time. 1. 2 Keys: Welcome to GM for quite a long time 2. Interior: ITS LATE 90S, THEYRE ALL BAD. And if every car youve seen has cracked plastics then you must not see many 3. Little things that break: Its 15-19 years old with 130,000 miles..... its an old car. Ive had 4 to this point. NONE having these issues except power steering went bad on one at 176k miles. Never buy over 100k miles but that one was dirt cheap 4. Suspension: you complain about the suspension not being better than mustang and you feel it doesnt help traction as much as the mustang. Is that why the internet is flooded with mustangs spinning out under moderate throttle? New and old. They give traction fairly well for 90s tech on a long lived platform, and the ride is quite comfortable as well 5. Traction Control: It's mechanically actuated, not electronically. Therefore yes, it does kick the pedal at you. HINT: Don't buy one with TCS or just turn it off(press the button LOL) 6. Fiberglass panels: Not sure how y'all managed to crack that, over half a million miles lifespan in the ones I have had, none had them cracked without being hit. Seems like you're nitpicking a busted car. 7. Cartoonish styling: That's gotta be a joke. Not sure how to respond to this.. 8. True Duals: 100% wrong. That wasnt a true dual system or even an attempt at one. You showed a catback. I can't take this video seriously even in the slightest regard except for the cheap interior. But welcome to 90s GM. Just another video Mustang biased driver who clearly doesn't know the car he's trying to make a video on. Cheers :)

Sure that old car could be mint again if you wanna spend 15 grand on a 3500 dollar car. I actually say that with some seriousness 4th gen trans ams are gonna shoot up in value soon just like a restored 3rd gen camaro/trans am is already fetching 15-20 if restored correctly

Do a little research about true dual exhaust "not going to happen" , holmes! plus the plastic ish body is awesome to resisting dings/dents. Also, who in the hell complains about 2 keys?? That's the way is was back then.

It has been well cared for, unfortunately. I know a dual exhaust can be added, but it surely isn't as easy as it should be. The exhaust note sounds meh on this thing, even with a Flowmaster on it. Two keys is pretty lame in 2001, Ford stopped using two keys in the early to mid 90's. Thanks for watching.

I've owned 4 Firebirds in my life and the '99 Trans Am was hands down the best of them all. Literally the only two things that annoyed me in the newer one compared to my '86 TA, for example, were the plasticy interior and the fact that the engine is halfway underneath the windshield.. Other than that, the older birds have a very loose and sloppy feel to them compared to an LS1 bird. Besides, the modern interior that we all hate has FOUR cup holders. Yes, that's FOUR. It's amazing. The 3rd gen has none. Still, give me any Firebird and I will enjoy it.

He makes a few decent points. interior is rather cheap but stupid easy to upgrade. has actually been part of my fun with this car. Same goes for the suspension but i can take corners harder then my buddies mustang. The worse thing on the Fbody is the sealed beam headlights and the crowded engine bay. For the record i own a Fox body mustang 5.0 as well the complaints are the same and the handling is worse. Both are awesome fun cars.

Cartoonish styling? Are you kidding? With all its flaws, the 98-02 Trans Ams are some of the most daring, uniquely designed cars. Huge slick spoiler, wide taillights, ram air hood scoops and dual housed pop up headlamps. And it's funny how you say your car is well maintained, having all those problems. You've clearly hit something with it. Seems to me it's more the drivers fault. Why do you even own it if you don't like it? It's because you're afraid to admit that you love it. And I've yet to meet any owner of a Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, or Trans Am who says their great in the snow.

Well you just meet one now, I drive my 97 firebird year round as well and I live in Michigan. Yes even in the snow not much of a problem, it's just like driving any other RWD car all you need is some winter tires and extra weight (like any other car as well for better traction) in the trunk, been doing for it 3 years now as long as you drive with caution and have experience driving in snow you should be fine. But i can say there is a limit due to the inches of snow no matter what im driving I wouldn't drive because of other idiots on the road and sometimes it ain't worth it.

It sounds like you were saying look elsewhere if you want a true dual, I believe these Fbodies come with an X-pipe style exhaust, which is crucial to make proper back pressure for horsepower and efficiency, I'm not sure if that's exactly what you were saying, but I used to think true duals were the coolest as well (they still are pretty satisfying to see) but read up on why there are so many different types of exhaust routes, X-pipe and H-pipe even though seemingly similar produce massively different outcomes in terms of vacuum creation and efficiency

I agree with most of the complaints,but there has been plenty of these cars with a custom,true dual exhaust.pipes run side by side and over the axle. one plus is seats lean all the way back as opposed to a vette. keep trolling.lol

I had a black 1998 Trans Am and it needs minor repairs on the LS, and I took it to the shop. The auto mechanic men said it cost me $2,400 and I went to different shops, and the price is still same thing... I get rid of mine and purchased a 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 car, it's cheaper than 4th gen Trans Am....

My dad had a 99 Mustang back in the day and I currently run a 181k mile sixer Firebird....which I have to say is in better shape than this LS you're driving. Youre never going to see great sound from a flowmaster, only certain year panels cracked (my 95 isn't one of them), 2 keys is part of the nostalgia and mustang interiors look like i should have a cowboy hat nearby...a pink one. all jokes aside...I like both in their respective manners..have driven both with numerous Drivetrain. But an LS with even stock suspension...that makes my inner child grin

I have a 96 trans am NON WS6 but I have a ram air hood and air box. Airbox says Pontiac on it. I was wondering if you could have a non WS6 trans am with the ram air from factory, or if only WS6 cars got the ram air. Thanks

I'm sorry but your WS6 looks like its been run pretty hard. I have a 2001 WS6 6 speed car that is no way in the same shape as yours. I take care of my car . I run true duels no problem. Don't have the cracked door panels or cracked body panels. But I also don't drive mine in the winter and have many more mods that help it traction wise as the motor is not stock. But everyone has there own opinion.

I have a 2000 black one, and i had the cracked door panels, since i was going for a Knight Rider look, i got a beige interior out of a '96, no cracks. over the next year Im going to be updating the trans(4l60e) and rear end to handle more power, also getting a true dual exhaust, i already installed an LS6 intake. My car also had the bubbled roof panel, which i bought 1 used in good condition from an earlier model year bird, removed and installed the panel myself, and how so i enjoyed ripping that old panel off.
