Thank you. I started decluttering many years ago, its only in recent years I have understood how deeply I have applied it and still applying it.. I only found your videos recently and you indeed feel like a friend who has got my back. Sometimes we stumble and I feel like a cuppa with a likeminded friend just put me on track again. It's a real journey of investigation and personal development that is incredible if you commit to it. Thank you :)

I'm 65 and retired. No grandchildren for me ☹. However, once a week I babysit my 2 1/2 year old great nephew, usually with my older sister. Nothing beats playing with him all day! It is a joy! Then he naps, and my sister and I get to spend time talking about anything and everything. I go hone to the love of my life. These things keep me fulfilled.

Rule #8 of my rules to a successful marriage is learn to say “No/Know” both spellings. As in no we are not doing that or I need to know more before we make a decision. My wife and I have been married for 31 years. Love her more today than the day we were married! I have developed 12 rules for a great marriage.

The window of amazement and exploration narrows as we age due to habit and expectations. No adult sees the sunrise with amazement after staying up all night. Since we have these habits, it's best to see things with wide eyes and happiness/curiosity. Life is far more fulfilling with this mentality. Learn something new, curve your mentality and discover new things.

Hello Ronald Banks, Happy New Year to you. My name is Barbie and I am new to your channel. While watching this video I felt like you are a friend. The way you speak is so gentle, peaceful, and kind. It truly resonated with me and I appreciate you sharing everything you did in this video. I will definitely be doing more of the suggestions you mentioned, like decluttering, for example. I already read a ton of books, I love to read, so you mentioning how you and your wife are always reading was beautiful to hear. Glad I landed on your page and on this video, Thank you and Cheers!

11:01 so how do I not upset peeps by saying ‘no’. I get upset if peeps pass up my invite so I assume the same when I turn others down. Recently my sister was upset when I answered “No thanks” to an invite. How do I avoid a blow out or argument over saying “no”. My family is high maintenance 😅

I started a "follow your curiosity" social group. We meet a few times a month to talk about what interests and excites us. I try to make it a safe space for people beginning in their explorations. There is so much negativity and cruel gate keeping online. I wanted to start a group where making mistakes and saying the wrong thing doesn't mean the person has to be squashed. Looking forward to running the group in 2023. I have so many ideas Really gained a lot from your discussion

This is definitely 30 minutes well spent! Cheers to the new year and enjoy your son. I've been decluttering for 2 years now on + off. Haven't regretted letting go of 1 item ... only to think that I could have asked a friend first if they wanted it before I donated it. Curiosity is wonderful - I always enjoyed learning the how + why behind things. I've branched out in my genres of reading and enjoying the pages I've turned. Worse case scenario, the book isn't finished, but I'll give it to a friend or library.

🖐This is so me. Twelve years ago I started getting panic attacks and anxiety and with every year my life got smaller and smaller and now I mostly live inside my small comfort zone. I know I need to change and how to do it, but I am terrified. Sometimes it feels like my little safe bubble is killing my mind but it is safe from the terror that is panic attacks and so I do nothing but make excuses, year in and year out. I have never heard it phrased like that, but it really rang true.

Expand your vocabulary - Well, I will begin to learn japanese in a month. :) It will be hard because japanese is like a thousand worlds away from my mother tongue german and isn't comparable to any other language I've learned before (english, spanish, french and a bit swedish). Neither indogerman nor a roman language. It will be an interesting challenge.

Hello! I am a long time follower of yours and i have to say, some of your advice is really helpful! BUT(T) I have to put a disclaimer over the living in the past advice. DON'T PUT YOUR BLINDERS ON!!! IF SOMETHING FROM THE PAST AFFECTS YOU SO MUCH IN THE PRESENT THAT YOU CANNOT MOVE INTO THE FUTURE OR EVEN DEAL WITH THE PRESENT, THEN PLEASE FOCUS ON THAT. GO TO THERAPY, FIND OUT WHY IT IS HOLDING YOU BACK, WHEN YOU FOUND OUT WHY YOU CAN FIND A WAY OF HEALING/ SOLVING IT. Never put blinders on yourself and be curious about yourself

I think when you're a child you have your parent/s carer/s as a safety net. If you get too close to something hot they stop you burning your hand etc so all 'curiosity' or exploration is done within the confines of a supervising adult. When babies learn to platform they step away from the safety net of their person and start to explore the world 'alone' but they still know all they have to do is turn around and run back to safety. When you're an adult I think you find comfort and safety in the familiar, in being able to predict the outcome of something with some reliability whether that's a feeling like Netflix binge = turn my brain off when I'm overstimulated or a phonecall with X = my safe space. It can lead to being less creative and taking less risks and risking being stuck in your ways but there's some value in knowing what you like and what feeds your soul and not endlessly searching for new stuff thinking it will be better or you'll be less bored. Conversely I too agree a bit of curiosity is a good thing. Love a rabbit hole situation when you Google something then you end up watching videos about it and seeing if there's groups in your local area and before you know it you have a new hobby or pastime or expertise. In summary adulthood is realising there's no adult to come save you, YOU are now the adult and that is terrifying enough to make anyone want to stay home and not try new stuff but safety in numbers I might have to be my own adult but I know a bunch of them so we can go figure it out together.
@amyli0922 жыл бұрын
Couldn't have said it better myself! I remember experiencing those feelings of being my own adult right after I hit 30 years old back in August.... and quite frankly, I still find myself getting hung up on this because of everything I've experienced in my life in previous years. Who I am today is someone who is still trying to figure things out, and there's nothing wrong with that 💖

Excellent! I am moving out oif state in just under a month and going to a totally different place. I am decluttering and know there will be some things I will enjoy more in TN than in Chicago. I focus on those. I have to ask myself whether something is meaningful... if not, it has to go. I am literally leaving my comfort zone and going to a rural area.... never lived anywhere but in an urban area. And in Illinois. The artist in me loves to jump right in... I have done just that in real life, at a job that lasted 26 years. My first night at this pizzeria, I was the only phone worker who showed up and had no choice except to jump in. Art and life are one and the same, not separate entities.
@amyli0922 жыл бұрын
My boyfriend and closest girlfriend are both from Illinois, and while it's going to be a while until my boyfriend can officially move out, I find it to be quite a funny coincidence that you're from around the same area as them!
