I think Bioshock 1 was more disturbing than Infinite. For the commenters edition I really really think Battlefield 1 campaign, first level should be on it, it was really effective in how usually in a fps, you die and respawn and repeat, but with the slightly scripted sequences you realize the person you are playing was probably someone who actually died in the war, and you experience first hand the horrors of fighting in a war, the flamethrowers, the gas, heck even the tank didn't feel so safe. In that one mission, I was shaken to the core, all ideas of being an epic war hero vanished in that instant... I feel it was really really well done.

My real argument is that the axe to the dick is sudden and while a gruesome visual doest give a lot time for it to register compared to the other freak-outs in the demo. The events in Whistleblower is drawn out and have a lasting memory well after finishing the game and even more harrowing than Outlast 2. Plus I may or may not want them to just show it again to relive that moment in visual display again and read all the freak-outs in the comments section.

Tanks in first person shooters, just anything from Battlefield lately. Whether it be an Abrams or a Renault FT, there is a moment when you're not equipped to take down a tank and you're hiding, hoping to the multiplayer gods that this person just drives away. But they don't, instead they stop, the sounds of their engine roaring like a beast, their turret slowly rotating towards you until the large barrel of their main gun halts and to your dismay, is squarely pointed at you. And in this moment, this second at most, you know what's about to happen, they know what's about to happen, but that second lingers and lingers... and then bam! You're dead. It's the longest second in multiplayer.

Can I just say that I actually loved Quake 4. It probably wasn't received very well but I thought it was great fun, and had a much better story than I ever expected. I just wish I got stroggified into something more badass than just a strogg human wearing my own face as a mask. Wasn't it like Raven Software's last hurrah at being a serious games company before they became... well, whatever it is they are now?

Great video, you should do one about how 3rd person in games sometimes makes scary scenes less scary. Honestly I though hiding with dead bodies in MGS:tpp was worse than Homefront one. 5:04 Troy Baker's freakishly realistic scream makes this 10X times worse the first time I played through this segment. (SPOILERS FOR BIOSHOCK INFINITE BURIAL AT SEA DLC) Thought were they were going to refer getting impaled by the Big Daddy at the end of episode 1. That freaked the crap out of me first playthrough. But the lobotomy was pretty harrowing too.

hiding in a mass grave is cruel and all but in far cry 3 you got buried alongside with the others in a mass grave. not only is there the fear of getting buried alive, but also the gore of rotten corpse you literally have to dig through. and if i mention gore and corpses dont forget the evil within. i know is 3rd person but not that one dlc. i thing doing brainsurgery isnt a nice thing, yet better than recieving a lobotomy. poor little girl

Actually, that cod part was actually proposed, because there is a treaty that prevents of having nuclear, biological or other WMD's in the orbit, but tungsten/wolfram rods do not count as any of those, and yes, the proposed project was actually called "Project: Thor". I am not making any of this up.
