Top advice Chris. I meet so many people on my hikes that have done no prep, have no maps or nav devices, and often are in inappropriate footwear or clothing.

Some cracking tips. All things I already do (including dog haha) but lovely to see the info being shared as see so many unprepared out there. I live in Norfolk so much flatter than beautiful Wales 😂 hoping to improve my map reading this year for more hilly adventures. Really great app recommendations too.

I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos Chris - any chance you could put some links to the software and kit you recommend? It might earn you some affiliate commission too! :-)

Hey Chris, nice to see a fellow adventurer. My partner and I are regularly on the mountains every weekend. We have nearly covered all the walks in the beacons and there are quite a few! However, I am toying with the idea of doing a sponsored walk across the Beacons of some, fifty-miles, Non-stop. If this is a challenge you would be interested in doing drop me a message. The year is early and there is plenty of time to train for such an event. Whatismore, I walk on average in one day around Twenty-five miles which takes me ten hours, so we are looking at a minimum of a twenty-four hour walk, without stops. So I have calculated for such a walk and all eventualities a Thirty-four hour window. Further, this will not be done without support. My partner will not be able to cover such a distance so she will be backup for food and water. I have been in the army and I only rely on a map and compass, only reverting to my phone to get a bearing. I carry a full first aid kit, two bladders, one of water and the other of isotonic. I never leave home without them. Furthermore, I am looking at the logistics of this walk, even though I have done the walk in sections, I have never done the whole walk and I am still assessing the start and end of this event. Subsequently, I also live in Swansea not far from Liberty stadium. plus, I am regularly down the Gower, spearfishing. If this has wetted your appetite for a challenge, drop me a message and we will take it from there. P.S. Bring your camera's because I will be using mine. CJ.
