Yeah they got the right idea from the modding community. Mods that make you have basic needs, disable fast travel and make the game harder have been the most downloaded for a long time. Also I love how they decided to go with you die faster but your enemies do too. This is exactly what I was looking for. Its ridiculous how in normal mode you shoot each other with guns and its like you spit on each other. Sneak kill should be one shot in most cases and 2 - 3 bullets should be the maximum for someone who is made of flesh even if he is in armor.

meh, it still doesn't take long before the game gets ridiculously easy. I admit it's rough until your mid 20s depending on perk choice, but then enemies just start to melt if you are using even a half decent build. Disabling fast travel doesn't add to the difficulty, it simply forces you to do more tedious legwork (for example, establishing settlements as you travel farther from your point of origin in order to have areas to sleep or sell junk quickly) I just felt inconvenienced rather than I was struggling for my character's life. Clean water was always readily available due to my purifiers (and even on my characters that didn't create purifiers I was able to scavenge or buy what i needed) food was a joke since nearly any creature you fight yields meat to cook. Due to weight limit being slashed, the biggest problem I faced was which set of 20 steaks did I need to dump from my inventory in order to not be encumbered, the radstag ones or the brahmin ones. Been hearing good things about the Frostfall mod which seems to not have the issue of over abundant food, water and ammo. I think it will offer a better experience than Bethesda's official offering.

Survival mode pro here: 1: when going through a location with enemies, dont bother looting anything until everything is DEAD. Focus on securing the location fully, then perhaps saving. 2: Dont bother doing lots of tedious stuff like scrapping alot of stuff in a settlement without being prepared to save right after. 3: Hoarding a cache of weapons and ammo at a settlement allows you to create a resupply spot. Personally, i recommend Hangmans alley 2 blocks away from Diamond city. (TAKE HEED however, settlers will often grab vauable guns and ammo from containers they can reach to fight off threats, try securing it in a hard to reach place, or have no settlers at that location) 4: Carry around 2 weapons for use, with a moderate amount of ammo. 5: Grenades are super deadly, use yours often, and run IMMEDIATELY when you see an enemy use it. theres a chance you might live. 6: Mines are great defense against melee/bullrushing enemies, but remember to stay clear of the splash yourself. 7: in the beginning, prioritize the deadlier diseases to use your antibiotics against.(insomnia is a pathetic excuse of a disease vs +20% damage taken.) 8: the Adrenaline buff is NOT WORTH not saving for. save as often as you can. 9: Cooked Radstag meat is your friend. (double meat if you have the magazine from sunshine tidings settlement) 10: Brotherhood of steel vertibird grenades are for sale in the Prydwen, get them while their hot. When you progress the main quest you also get the ability to fast travel to the institute from anywhere, and you exit the institute by fast traveling to the CIT ruins.. (which is very close to Hangmans alley, which again is close to Diamond City)

If I may add my 2 cents to anyone who still plays. Not going to mention everything as some of it is basic, but just the most important. I'm an extremely passionate fallout 4 player, and I've done a few survival runs. Sorry if I mentioned something someone already said, haven't read all the comments. Credit also to HSG gaming: unlimited caps, French tomahawk, MysTGaMing for heavy combat armor location. Here's what I know: 1. I recommend you spec like this: S 1, P 4, E 5, C 6, I 10, A 1, L 1. Why? Let me explain. Strength is important but you can get that a tab bit later (Use dogmeat for carry weight). Perception is at 4 so you can use the special book and bobblehead to unlock night person, put a point in that and later put another. Endurance is at 5 to get aquaboy ASAP. Lot's of fucking around in water so it is needed. Charisma is at 6 for 2 reasons: You need local leader early and secondly you can pick up a wig in sanctuary (or minuteman hat outside museum of freedom) which will give you plus 1 CHR, a suit/ dress in sanctuary in those suitcases (a further plus 2 CHR), and black rim glasses (+1 CHR) in the mole rat tunnel by Red Rocket where you find doggo :) 10 CHR when everything is worn. Favorite the items and use hot keys: 0 - = to change rapidly between clothes when trading or speech checks. Saves time. Do the same with armor 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. Leave 9 open incase you overlap. Then you can just switch armor and charisma clothes which is EXTREMELY useful. Anyway. INT is at 10 because of XP gain later down the line. Also pick up chemist rank 1 early and later put more. Use chems (mentats and jet) early. For example: I finished my last playthrough around level 60 with decent intelligence that I bumped up later. But in my recent playthrough I was already over lv40 before I even got to diamond city. Yikes. So do it! :) Agility is at 1 because sneak and vats are more convenience perks you can get later, more important shit needed early IMO. Luck is also convenience, idiot savant is too low down and you'll be getting clothing increasing INT thus affecting it's proc so it's iffy. Bloody mess is neat but LATER! 2. "Why low luck and agility, are you a fckn retard or something?" Here's the strategy bucko. Get the overseers guardian. Spec rifleman, gun nut, and later bloody mess. 1-3 shot most enemies. I just ran through the glowing sea for virgil lvl 54, average 2-4 shot any death claw with .45. So yeah basically you need to be a glass cannon because everything else hits fckn hard you need to hit harder. .45 is also really common with every trader selling near 100 or more. So you can get ammo fckn easy. No need for 2 guns, they take up space. I carry over 1000 .45 at any given time. 3. Early game strat: Scrap sanctuary, get special book put 1 point to PERCEPTION, loot root cellar (3 gold bars to sell), get doggo, get black rim glasses in mole tunnel by red rocket, run back to vault, use doggo to glitch cryo gun for you (save it for later). Shelf spam wood shelves until you get lone wonderer and aquaboy. NO MORE! Just for carry weight and aquaboy for later. Run to concord, kill dudes at front, loot crank rifle and ammo, use church to jump over and get the power armor early, DO NOT USE THE MINIGUN, fight dudes in the area, get perception bobblehead, run out and use cryo gun only on deathclaw. If you follow the route left from museum you can find the diner and resolve the issue so you keep wolf and the other chick there. You can sell and buy shit to them. Sell them the minigun and ammo (don't forget to equip charisma clothes). You can also sell them your power armor armor. If you've leveled up put a point into local leader, then get a point into night person even if you have to shelf spam a little. There's a junk yard east of sanctuary where you can find a fat man and kill the sentry bot with holo-tape for fusion cores. Thicket excavations will get you money and xp. Use fat man, cryo gun, crank rifle to kill mirelurks. Sell fatman. You can kill sully I believe and loot ushanka hat, just realized now he has one, +1 INT for later. Or you can run next to corvega plant, before the junkyard with molerats there is a building with rad-roaches. I found an ushanka hat on the top of a table there. If you want to be a mad-lad you can run to cambridge polymer labs and get a lab coat, +2 INT, unless you find one random lying around. Loot sunshine tidings, get the survival book, and scrap trees. Get a supply line there. Loot and scrap Starlight Drive In for steel. Supply line for there too. Go to sanctuary. Make sure you have night person. Sleep until 6pm, get a well rested bonus, wear lab coat and ushanka hat, consume mentats (find, craft, or buy them) daddy-o and X CELL (found in concord speakeasy, make sure you hydrate after all this) and shelf spam wood shelves. Scrap after and repeat. Leave a couple hundred wood incase you want to build something later. Next go to chem station and with chemist rank 1 create poisoned cal-trops with all that steel you have. Leave couple hundred steel for general use. You should have shit tons of XP by now. Around lv 20 you should have rifleman rank 3, night person 1, local leader 1, lone wonderer 2, gun nut 2. Put points into strength to get armorer 2 then aim to get strong back level 2 later. Take all the poison cal-trops you can carry and move yo sexy ass to the diner, sell to those guys, then run to vault 81 and sell more to them. By now, if you haven't been spending, you should have more than enough caps for the overseer's guardian and ammo. Around this time the alien ship should have crashed and you can use that gun as your back up incase your run out of ammo. Spec it for powerful receiver for overseer's guardian. Congrats, you've won the game. 4. Pilgrim to Hub City auto for heavy combat armor. Pick up army fatigues for 1 STR and 1 AGI to wear underneath. Mod heavy armor for deep pockets, better than ultra light build IMO cuz u can carry more. 5. As you adventure, pick up all ammo except .45 and sell it. If you pick up 100 .38 that's 100 caps. Easy money and it's not heavy. I hardly pick up junk unless I'm on my way to sanctuary and have space. Pick up any gun that's worth over 100 caps and sell it. As reference, a good time to buy anything is when you have something to sell. 6. I wear ushanka hat and pop mentats before missions for xp rewards and before I expect a lengthy fight. More XP. 7. Get stores in your settlements and buy steel shipments from them. Every time you pass a town buy steel shipments. Diamond city surplus is like a money orgy cuz every time you pass there they have 2 traders that both sell steel shipments. Use this to create poisoned cal-trops (XP) then sell. Chem station is right behind you by the doc in diamond city.

Fill them up with low quality water, and grow some razorgrain and you can eat Noodle Cups for food and hydration every day like a real Diamond City citizen. Or mix them with Mirelurk Eggs for a tasty snack. Purified water is easy to have massive supplies of by overbuilding water resources in every settlement and pulling it out of the workbench and putting it in a trunk every time you are there.

I was level 12 before I set foot in Concord. After scrapping everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING in Sanctuary I built everything I knew I needed for Preston and crew. And just kept building stuff until I reached level 10. Then I went to all the closest and thus easiest locations before going to Concord. I sneak everywhere I go. Every weapon has suppression. Get the Ninja perk. Swimming is my fast travel. So get Aqua Boy/Girl. Gotta have Chemist. I was deathly sick the whole time those first 12 levels. Spent half my time drinking water. I am level 33 now. My goal now is to obtain ballistic weave. Which requires you to do Railroad quests. And have rank 4 Armorer. Survival is a bitch for sure. You really have to plan ahead. Strategic thinking is required. I played the game first in normal mode. Then I played through in Very Hard. Survival is SOOOO much more fun!
@oaksparoakspar3144

Except for the illness that does periodic damage (which is super annoying), you can live with any of the others until they go away on their own after a few days. You can even live with the damage one once you get enough levels under you. Chemist just isn't worth it unless you are using it for the additional chem duration. With Aqua Boy you can swim around to the Railroad as soon as you get to the main river. If you are careful, Deacon will take care of the synths for you as you recover the prototype. Exit then re-enter the Railroad to trigger PAM's first quest (Mercer Safehouse) and pray it is somewhere easy (not Spectacle Island or on Far Harbor). After that, return, exit and re-enter, and you will get the DIA quest for Ballistic Weave. Do that, and you are gold.

Decided to play survival mode and it has been kicking my ass. each play through attempt I've gotten better and being forced to walk everywhere without fast travel has actually become so much more immersive for me. found so many more interesting little scenes and places trying to flee or find a bed in the wild that I would have just blown right by in normal. i keep getting stopped cold at the go to the glowing sea part with all the radscorpins and stuff on previous attempts - this time I am taking it even slower than before and trying another build that i think will be better in the long run . we shall see. :P

I think that Local Leader is one of the most useful perks with the new survival mode. At rank 1 for the supply lines is pretty obvious. At rank 2, having clinics and doctors at a settlement means that you can get healed and cured of all diseases for 15 caps. It's nice to be able to craft the antibiotics, but the ingredients are a little over the top (3 stims, 3 glowing fungus, 2 acid, 2 pure waters). The downside is that it takes 6 charisma. So that is 3 past Lone Wanderer which I think a lot of people take although I don't. I do like Party Boy especially at the second rank for the double effects. Having double the strength bonus is very helpful when you are overloaded. I think Jet Fuel is also a lot more useful now without fast travel. With Jet Fuel you can sprint from one side of the map to the other with only taking a few short breaks. Taking bufftats, alchohol, and jet fuel, you can pick up a lot more junk and then sprint to a settlement and dump it off before the alcohol ever wears off.
@oaksparoakspar3144
@oaksparoakspar3144 6 жыл бұрын
Chems are always good, but yes, Jet Fuel will let you sprint more. In Survival, maxing out more of your SPECIAL becomes necessary, as you will want the ST for carrying, the PR for VATS unless you are melee, the EN for those precious hit points and running, CH since you can't save-n-spam speech checks (wait to talk to romantic companions until you get back to a settlement and sleep in a bed), IN for the normal XP and crafting, AG for VATS, running, and sneaking (sneaking chances are roughly half perk ranks and half stats, so a high stat with no ranks is as good as a low stat with all the ranks), and LK for when things get hairy and you don't want a mistake to make you reload. If you are at 10+ of EN and AG, you can already sprint about all you could ever want to. A few ranks of Action Boy/Girl and you are essentially living Jet Fuel.

Another tip I heard somewhere else, and one that is super useful, is getting the Armorer rank 1 perk early on, and wearing a full set of modular armor with the pocketed mod on each piece. It increases your carry capacity by about 50 pounds. The lone wanderer perk is also amazing, but of course there's a downside to that.
@diablerietandino1941
@diablerietandino1941 7 жыл бұрын
depends on how much you value companions. They honestly add nothing to the game for me, and in fact they mostly get in my way. Even the amazingly overpowered robots you can make with the mechanist dlc like to stand in doorways and block your line of fire. Lone wanderer is a bit of a godsend in survival mode, especially if you are like me and hate using power armor.

(8) "Go slow." Absolutely. Hit ever place, one by one, and build up each settlement as you go (both to have good bases, places to fall back to, and so they can stand on their own without maintenance). (7) "Sleep often." Absolutely. Having saves to fall back on is much more useful than building up your damage multiplier. Also, keeping a romantic partner with you (which normally you would ditch, since you are done with them) makes sense for the extra XP. (6) "Pick plants." Meh. While picking particular foodstuffs (like wild mutfruit which is light and low rad) is certainly very helpful in the early game while you get your farms up and going. Crafting certain items does require wild plants, but doing so really isn't that important. You can fix limbs by sleeping or you can take the hit and pop a stim for limb damage, but most of your healing will be food and water based. Save your stims for you companions and only use other med when absolutely required. Antibiotics are common enough just scavenged in the wild and can be purchased from most merchants (all doctors, most chem dealers, and some general merchants). (5) "Get chemist." Double meh. Crafting stims and rad away is simply not needed. You should find plenty as you play and should be using them almost never. The ONLY reason to take Chemist is if you are planning on doing a Chem-based build and want the extra duration. The only reason to take Chem Resistant is if that Chem-based build is not a Junkie build. (Note that the Junkie build is incredible in Very Hard, but not very good for Survival mode). (4) "Pick up guns for extra ammo." This is true for any play through, but certainly applies for survival where the best loot value to weight is still ammo - even though ammo has weight. Also, since ammo has weight, you won't walk around with as much of it. Picking up all you find, then keeping a trunk in each settlement to dump your extra is VERY useful. Rather than drop the guns, however, look for a weapon bench in the dungeon and scrap them. With Scrapper, this turns weapons into piles of awesome (and light to carry) scrap, but even without, it isn't a waste. Even a Pipe Pistol turns into 4 steel (weight 0.8lbs and value of 4 caps). Turning a pile of Raider Armor into 1 steel each is not as valuable, but still better than nothing if the workbench is around. If you are a gun based build, consider ammo plants as well. Fertilizer shipments are a good way to turn heavy loot into a weightless pieces of paper, which when mixed with various components (lead, steel, copper, plastic) turn into LOTS of ammo over time while you pick crops. Likewise the food plant will turn some of your rad-filled crops into very good foodstuffs. The clean Instamash is cheap to make (but weights half a pound) while the clean Blamco Mac&Cheese is more expensive but only weights at a tenth of a pound. ] You can still overload your companions, but that is cheating off a glitch. (3) "Lead Belly" No. Lead Belly still sucks. It sucked before and sucks in Survival. You still take some rads until you are done with the line and you still get ill from whatever you eat or drink being unclean. You have infinite purified water to drink from the well pump (or you can build water fountains and sinks). That means total hydration and healing are always as close as the closest settlement. Also, you can fill any empty bottle with water at those spots to create a purified water. You should, however, be drowning in purified water from overbuilding the water resources of your settlements beyond your settler limit. Thus, you SHOULD be filling your bottles with dirty water so that you can craft them into various goodies - in particular razorgrain + dirty water = noodle cup, which is a clean food that both feeds and hydrates for only half a pound. Also, with all that dirty water you can actually cook up the mountains of mirelurk eggs in the Commonwealth. Do not waste perks on Lead Belly in any playthrough ever. Early on, stick to cooked meats, water in your settlements, purified water, and noodle cups with wild mutfruit (only 1 rad) as a good backup (only weighs a tenth of a pound). (2) "Don't get hit." Good advice. Tanking in survival is impossible until very high levels with very high Endurance and takes a ton of time to recover from. Using the Medic Perk to try and overcome that not only takes a ton of perks, it requires using Stims (which then require you to rehydrate yourself) - and so is a bad idea. Go into each battle planning to not be able to heal until afterwards. Afterwards, have a good meal so your health recovers while you loot and move on to somewhere else. (1) "Eat and drink." Easy enough so long as you are using food and water as your healing source and avoid meds (they make you hungry, thirsty, and more susceptible to disease). Decontamination arches are expensive to build (fiber optics being the early limiter - so buy biomedical scanners and microscopes from Carla and Trudy when you can), but they remove rads without cost. (0) Link your settlements both to share resources for building and crafting AND to put immortal suppliers on the roads between settlements (give them good weapons and 1 round of ammo, since they have infinite ammo use and armor will let them shoot more before sitting down to rest). Being able to turn all the fertilizer from all the cattle at all your settlements into grenades or jet and being able to turn all the extra crops and water being placed into those workbenches into adhesive will keep your settlements producing more of those items AND reduce their odds of being attacked by raiders (and no one likes having to run from Quincy just because Abernathy is being attacked again). If you are Institute, Hangman's Alley will be your go-to, since it is just over the bridge from where you teleport back into the Commonwealth at. If you are any of the other, buy all the vertibird grenades you can and stow them in every settlement. Survival makes pistol and rifle builds better, is playable with commando, makes melee and unarmed much harder, and makes heavy guns almost impossible.

Concerning Lead Belly: you will never run out of Purified Water if you make sure to grab every single empty glass container you find, like beer bottles, Nuka Cola bottles, baby bottles, etc, and then fill them up at your settlements' water pumps. Highlight 'glass' with Scrapper rank 2 and you'll never miss them. Also, ditch the junk food.

sneak builds really come into their own in this mode. Right now I am level 48 with ST 4, PR 3, EN 1, IN 8, CH 6, AG 8, LK 7, and despite my physical frailty I rarely die unless I get careless. Sneak at higher levels is also good for not setting off mines, a very common source of early deaths for me. Higher Charisma and establishing a network of settlements also keeps me in clean water forever. I have not been forced to drink dirty water or unclean food since I was level 6. Small scale settlement building is very useful imho.

Currently playing Survival. Biggest tip i can give is get the settlements going. They are save havens where you can save, sleep, drink clean water from the fountain and fill up emty bottles with clean water, eat and dump weight. There are many placed across the map so you dont have to backtrack to Sanctuary although you might have to do it a bit in the beginning. Also you want the local leader perk that allows you to have all your stuff available in all settlements. Also figure out where the sleeping bags are and try to remember them. Also if you are overloaded Buffout is your friend. Otherwise use Jet and other chems when things get heated or are otherwise hard. I enjoy partners so i have Codsworth following me around, you can also give him your stuff to carry, he can tank for you and does some decent damage. Also you dont have to give him stimpacks when hes down.

Here's a survival mode tip that could be very helpful: You can get a full set of pristine T-60a power armor at any point in the game, even level 1, which would make survival mode a whole lot easier at the beginning of the game. Here's how you do it: make sure your endurance is at least 5 when you spec your character, then choose "Aqua Boy/Girl" when you level up. Once that is done, make your way to the lake that's sandwiched between Mystic Pines and Covenant (there's a crashed vertibird in the lake and you can see an elevated highway to the south). This is still an early game area so there aren't too many tough enemies that would block your way. This lake is connected to the Charles river and the ocean so you can go to most costal locations from here, and rads won't be a problem so as long as you have the "Aqua Boy/Girl" perk. Swim all the way to Atom Cats Garage, there is a pristine set of T60a armor with Atom Cats paint job and a fusion core that you can steal, and you should be able to avoid detection if you go at night and sneak through the back fence. I don't recommend taking the frame since you can't swim in power armor. The fusion core weighs 4 lbs and all 6 armor pieces together weigh 92 lbs, so if you come with only a vault suit and maybe a basic weapon, and at least 1 or 2 points in Strength, you should be able to take all the pieces plus the core and swim all the way back to Covenant. Then you can take the frame from the crashed vertibird in the lake by covenant, take off the randomly generated pieces on the frame, and put in the T60a pieces, and voila! You got a full set of T-60a armor with Atom Cats paint. Which is pretty much the best gear you can get until around level 28 (when X-01 armor can spawn), or until the BOS show up in Act II, at which point you can access T60b BOS armor.

Survival mode before and after the perk Local Leader 1 is nearly night and day. One huge benefit is that raw meat can be placed in one settlement, and cooked in another. Weapon and armor mods you remove and put in one workshop, can be attached on another. And all the junk for building is shared. Local Leader 2 is as good for Power Armor users. But not so much once you have your gear set up. (Edit: Med Stores are actually super convenient, so yeah, Rank 2 is pretty sweet) However, ammo and other consumables aren’t shared, so be thoughtful were they’re stashed. Consider a homebase or two. (County Crossing, Hangman’s Alley, Oberland Station, Starlight Drive-In and Jamaica Plains)

In Lexington once you have the plaza cleared well enough go through the laundry and climb through the broken wall and onto the retaining wall facing Danse and you can get all the ghouls to swarm next to you but they can't reach you. Don't sneak so they can see you and stand on the wall with your back to the building, away from their approach so you remain out of their reach. Then you can kill them with impunity. ONE TIME out of perhaps fifty playthroughs one ghoul climbed onto the END of the retaining wall and was able to attack me but in nearly all cases the ghouls will not be able to reach you. ..

Get the wasteland survival guide #9 at Sunshine Tidings Co-op settlement VERY early, like level 2 or 3. You will double your cooking experience and always have plenty to eat. You can add one intelligence to your already ten intelligence by drinking alcohol before you pick up the SPECIAL book in Shaun's room. That way your base intelligence is 11 once the alcohol wears off. Aqua boy is GREAT for evading enemies and getting to places you otherwise couldn't go without navigating through dangerous territory. The rivers become your safe highways. Nerd rage will save your hide a LOT especially if you have a high endurance, high hit point build. Blitz makes melee a joy even at low levels but it requires 9 agility. Agility will give you a lot of action points which are great for melee vats and sprinting. Demolition is a good skill as it will really add value to those grenades and mines. Find a combat knife very early in Concord at the cookout grill at the last house on the hillside. Be careful to avoid the mole rats and the bloodbugs.

Another tip: the Wasteland Survival Guide magazines are a godsend for this mode: the one you find @ Sunshine Tidings Co-op settlement, for instance, allow you to find twice as much meat from creatures you kill in the Commonwealth, including getting meat from the Mirelurk hatchlings (finally). I believe Mirelurk meat is one of the highest-value meats you can find, outside of Deathclaws, and the value of the meat is a measure of how 'filling' food you make from it is.

what kind of people playing survival mode wearing full suits of power armor? I roamed the wasteland with my default vault jumpsuits, and my pipe gun. still live to tell the tale. I know its a bit to late to post this but here's my way of playing survival mode: 1. Grab every kind of empty bottle you find, so you can fill it back in the water sources from your settlement for purified water. 2. Focus on kill every non feral and non human enemies for their meat. (radstag, yao guai, radroach, mole rats, mongrel dog, attack dog, rad scorpions, deathclaw etc) cook them for a high quality meal, as eating radiated food like (sugar bomb, canned food) will give you an illness that need antibiotics or a doctor to be cured. dont get the cannibalism perk, as it will only make your survival mode goes harder. 3. get gunslinger perk and any kind of pistol and sneak related perk to help you save your life (mister sandman, ninja etc) because pistol ammo are the easiest to come by from container of enemies corpses. and pistols mods are easy to come by from enemies corpses, aim for silenced mods. 4. get into covenant as soon as possible, that is the fastest doctor you can run into, and the easiest way to buy antibiotics. if you dint really dig into settlement management i suggest to store all kind of resources like food and water from covenant, to make that place less likely to be targeted by raid. as it might kill the doctor there. 5. Get a good legendary weapons, I was quite lucky to farm one with "explosive" prefix pipe gun, and by far my most economic and also powerful weapon with the weight of only 3.8 and damage over 100+ and manage to get "crippling" automatic assault rifle, that can help you with fighting huge mosnters like deathclaw, mirelurk queen or any special boss like swan. 6. Brings Codsworth for your early companion, as he can be your best meat shield and pack mule, he also give you free purified water if you spend 24 hour in game with him. 7. if you want to be a little bit OP you can go straight to railroad for ballistic weave mods, but that are definitely fun killer for me,so i stick with the jumpsuits. 8. enjoy the game, it might be a little hard at first, but if you follow my steps, it will feel like a walk in the park by the level 30, as long as you dont wastes your points on useless perks. *what you shouldn't do regarding the video*: 1. Dont get chemist perk for crafting antibiotics, that is just stupid, most of the ingredients are hard to come by. unless your weapon mod demanded chemist, i cant argue with other reason going for chemist perk. 2. save often? hell no, you wasting your precious food sources if you play early, just sleep whenever you get good things. 3. grab a plant? the fuck? of course no, why would you be a vegetarians in the wasteland when you can eat deathclaw steaks, i dont find grabbing wasteland plants helps in any ways. 4. Lead Belly? nope, thats just ridiculous, why would you eat radiated food? useless perk before and after the new survival mode.

I spent about an hour in vault 81 just exploring and talking to all the people, collecting and trading items. I came from diamond city, and that was the last place I had saved. After searching high and low within the vault for an unowned bed, I remembered from another playthrough there was a bed in a shack right outside the vault. Piper and I get to the door and I wait for the loading screen to finish. Immediately as the commonwealth was rendered before me, I was already staring into the open mouth of a charging Yao Guai. It took away at least 80% of my health, crippled me leg and I contracted some type of disease. I limped past Piper, back through the entrance to the vault, to wait that shit out. fucking survival mode.

Finally got around to doing a survival run damn dying to raiders in 2-3 shots is so refreshing. Usually I'm max endurance power armor never needing to heal it's a great change for those like me who just can't resist using that op armor.

I put 20 industrial water purifier for quick 1000+ Water. But make sure to remove the purified water in the workshop every 1-2 day. If there is no bed to save/sleep. Make a quick exit to save (without the menu) and make a backup (zip file ). I got all random merchants and powerful weapon using this exit strategy.

Ancient video I know, but wanted to put this out there If you are one of those who want extra challenge and dont take perks like Lead Belly, drinking twice from a natrual source gives less rads then one dirty water. Takes a little more time but youre already moving methodically anyway. Some advice Hoarders beware. Stubbornly holding onto your items, thinking you'll save them for "appropriate encounters" is dangerous. I once used a bottlecap mine to kill a normal mirelurk that suprised me, because if I didnt, I would have lost a lot of progress. And finally, relish in the weird emergent moments survival brings. Early on I was at the bug cabin on the lake, Piper pulled the greater horde, I managed to catch sight of a legendary bloatfly. After I searched and searched and searched but couldnt find the remains. Well, she killed it out on the lake quite a ways. I had no rad x, my health was alteady half from radiation, and I hadn't seen a bed in awhile. I COULD have gotten it and survived, but my health wouod be even lower because water gives you 10 rad per second in survival. So I left knowing thier could be an explosive bullet weapon in that things belly. Life is cruel sometimes. 😂

I'm playing with the Cheat Room mod and wanted to add a challenge to the game. So i decided to play on Survival Mode. The only weapons I grabbed were a pistol, automatic pipe rifle, a hunting rifle, a double barrel shotgun, and a baseball bat. To add to the challenge, no ammo. No Power Armor, or any regular armor for that matter. Always rock the Drifter Coat anyway. I didn't want to start off too OP, so rather than using EXP Consumables to unlock perks, I started fresh at Level 1.

I went south to Greygardens first, then over to diamond city right from the start with little difficulty. The big changes I had were utilizing settlements, managing weight, and leaning on stealth/sniping over head on confrontations. I also use explosives a whole lot more, and on occasion run away from a fight. Strangest thing I do now is cross rivers using bridges, even if it's out of the way.

The best defense is offense, get the proper perks to do more damage, hit them hard before they can hit you. Tip 2, use power armor, get the radscrabber mod on your helmet and don’t invest in perk points in “lead belly” better put them in armor crafting perk.

Loved your hints. Lots of people need as I see them on live gameplay. But In my opinion there some tips need to be added. First, you indicated at least 1 bed, another thing is at least one water pump to drink water without using bottles on inventory Always take empty water such as empty beers, Whiskey, Milk and such to refill them in pumps, buying purified water is expensive in game. Lead belly has more purpose in game but i havent had problem with rads at all cause I always cook my food and built at least a decontamination arc from the dlc wasteland worshop. I have only use a rad away and never again in survival. I just sell them or store for crafting refreshing beverage. So lead belly is better but for me not sufficient to waste a perk on it in the beggining Something I learn from this video is that add and drop weapons you take its ammo.. I never knew that mechanic and Ill put it to the test, thanks for that.

The dying and losing an hour of progress made me rage quit the mode after just 4 hours of taking a whack at it. I think my mistake was rushing straight to Diamond city and trying to complete quests as if it was on normal difficulty. thank you for this video, I believe I'm better prepared for the survival challenge after watching this. you made my Fallout 4 fun !

My 10mm proved very handy in the case of enemies as 10mm ammo is rather cheap and easy to find vs .32 Also as any true Stalker knows. The surface is radioactive. Keep a gasmask just in case. Any gas mask will do. Coupled with the vault jumpsuit upgraded you have a minor radsuit. Just pop a RadX in very hot areas. Or even large areas with low radiation.

Get "Drinkin' Buddy" Having Ice Cold items like your various Nuka's or better yet, Purified Water. They sell better, and work better. Best of both worlds. I also use a mod that makes working fridges/beverage dispensors(Milk, Vim, Nuka-Cola). So I have all my settlements with extra water being produced, and then I swing on by, deposit in whatever "cooling unit" I have there, then boogie on down to the next place. I pull out all the extra food/water, and toss it into the fridge, plus I also take all the scrap I can from each place, and place it into the workbench of a Depot. Which is a unmanned settlement that won't get attacked, if I'm not running NSA(No Settlement Attacks) Mod, that is. The unmanned ones don't get attacked even with 10k water in the bench.

build a bunch of pumps at a settlement, go do some stuff, then come back and check the workshop. some purified water should appear in the workshop, which is really useful because free healing items and thirst isin't as much of a problem. also, pumping water pumps you build at settlements actually will cure your thirst and slowly heal you, it takes a long time to heal you since healing is reduced, but curing thirst doesen't take that long

You forgot to say that you can get a near endless supply of purified water if you collect bottles and fill them at pumps. Be sure to build a small water pump at each settlement in addition to a proper bed.

Wow, this video is old, must have missed this one. You have some solid tips. 1 tip that not a lot of people know is based around the new enemy spawning. In survival, enemies take much longer to respawn. While this means farming for loot is harder, it can make taking over a place easier. What I like to do is go out lightly armed from a nearby save point, preferably a settlement or diamond city, where I will store various weapons for later use. With a sniper, a few rounds for if I'm in a pinch, sometimes an additional weapon, I scout the area. If I can quietly pick off any wandering bad guys, I do it, and I try to kill atleast 1 or 2 guys if I am spotted, while running my ass off. While this does expend resources, in survival, an enemy in an uncleared location takes 35 in game days to respawn, and much longer if cleared (80 days). This gives you the ability to do hit and run strikes, a tactoc I dont use much in standard fallout 4 because not only is it less necessary, its just shit, even against stronger foes. It's less of a race against the clock on survival, as you no longer have only 7 days before it repopulates. Once I feel I can go in for the attack, depending on the area and available resources, I bring 1 or 2 (never more than 2) suitable guns to clear it. Also, while your tip to not immediately rush through the game is very good, I atleast like to get sanctuary started with preston and his crew asap before I travel out much. This ensures that I have a nice little early game base, and since I can hide and stash my loot in the cellar behind the blue house on the left of the roundabout where noone can get it, I can be a hermit there for radstorms and hoard my preciouses. Although, you cant add a proper bed in there, which sucks.
