Hey guys! Back with another Fallout 4 video and today I want to go over what I think are some of the best guns and weapons for Fallout 4's New and Revamped Survival Mode that will be added with the 1.5 Update for Fallout 4. If you pick these guns and maximize their respective perks, you should be in good shape!

I got one of those in Gunner Plaza. The legendary Gunner sergeant that was carrying it killed me 11 times with 11 reloads before I get her with grenades. Bad ass weapon. Do not mod it for tri barrel, keep the high rate of fire as that works best with the wounding mod.

+JC Denton .it is the most powerful variant of the Gattling laser, as technically (without mods) it cant have twoshot, or explosive. i have instigating, wounding, and lucky. (along with every other variant you can have as i have collected 30 legendary gattling lasers). And wounding is the best you can have.

You can also get the Nuclear physicist perks and repair bobbleheads. This boosts the efficiency of fusion cores. So instead of 500 shots per core you get 1100. It also extends the amount of time a core will last in power amour. Nuclear physicist does require an intelligence of 9 however. The repair bobblehead can be found on the very top of Corvega assembly plant. Which is usually cleared out early game for a minutemen quest.

instigating is better than 2shot, however situations make the 2 shot a better choice for multiple combatants, and or explosions taking small amounts of health away making instigating useless.

Explosive two-barrel shotgun. Even without any ranks in Demolitions Expert I tend to kill multiple targets with a shot when they're close packed. Of course, at any range below 3 meters I tend to hurt myself too. :)

For a six-shooter, that second bullet that doesn't use ammo or magazine is awesome. Gotta love double-shot for any gun in survival mode.

I had a legendary explosive shotgun on my survival playthrough. It completely destroyed every enemy I came across. I also ended up killing my self several times being too close to impact. The silenced 10m is the best weapon because its ammo is cheap and common. All you need is a stealth headshot and you kill everyone.

@@niklasmolen4753 if you've got the assembly dlc, it's not too bad. or just, buy it from vendors. plus, you're not likely exclusively using these weapons - carry a 'weaker' weapon with more readily available ammo that can deal with most threats, and the stronger more limited stuff for the harder threats.

@@leeman27534 I usually carry several weapons on me. But ammo weight means you have to limit yourself. For me, The Overseers Guardian has been the best general weapon. Ammo is in abundance and the damage is sufficient against everything but the absolute best monsters. Found a 10 mm pistol with an explosive, it was very good and fun. You clean everything that is not legendary. Too bad that explosive property is so unusual. Sure I could buy more ammo, but I'm stingy with my caps.

@@niklasmolen4753 i know, but presumably if going heavy weapons, you can use just 'it', for the most part so, 2-3 weapons with 2-3 ammo types still kinda works out similar - though the minigun still fucking sucks without wounding/explosive. double damage from survival helps, but even the spinning up of the minigun is detrimental.

6/18/22 I’m doing a no gun/no Power Armor run. Today, I yanked the Minigun off its mounting with my 9 strength, then put it away. Had just enough explosives and bear traps to kill the Deathclaw. I don’t know how to fight them with a knife, yet.

Im using the killoton rifle from far harbor, i fell in love with this rifle. Does great ballistic, radiation & explosive damage, i converted it to semi auto to run it off the rifleman perks which add limb damage & armor penetration, also grab the sniper perk for knock down the explosive rounds benefit greatly from this. Go full stealth & use proximity mine traps for tougher targets, setup has so much utility to it, i recommend it.

+rognadom templar I went with the BOS and got Visionary's 60c helmet, Jetpack Tesla torso, Tesla arms, Honor, and Vengeance. Also went with the Tesla rifle with the Rifleman perk. Probs the hardest fight on survival is the Kellogg fight, considering his 44 will two shot you with most armors you'll have at that point in the game. Also took me like 7 deaths to figure out that he runs out of stealth boys after the second.

Minigun: it also is one of the few guns with 'automatic' melee damage and stun as seen by the 'no guns' play through so even if ya run out of ammo it's still useful as an emergency crowd control device v.s. melee enemies (even if it is heavy)

I think The Final Judgment is pretty good because it gives the charging barrels a little more firerate which is very nice because i find the standard charging gatling laser to be a bit sluggish

it should do more than that. base minigun's like 8 damage, plasma infused adds 15, so it's actually not a bad legendary effect, given it's super low damage - and any damage modifiers past that should be more than 23 damage.

I am playing survival mode (level 117) and my explosive combat shotgun is great when dealing with almost every threat except for those that are in my face at melee range. Deathclaws of any type don't really worry me like they used to.

the gatling laser is a truly beast, I've been playing on very hard and lv 48, I had some fusion cores that weren't 100% charge, so I wanted to waste them, I've been killing enemies so easy and was barely wasting ammo,

The minigun with the shredder attachment and NO ammo is an AMAZING weapon! The barrel still spins without ammo so Fire that baby up and tear into enemies. That said, LIGHTWEIGHT weapons rule in survival. A .50 cal silenced pipe rifle with Recon scope was my best friend for a lot of my frost playthrough. You barely need any perks to maximize it. The Gainer .44 magnum with a scope on it works really well as a sniper weapon for pistol users.

I know that shotgun shells are relatively heavy at 0.1lb, but thinking about how many shells I typically use and how devastating it is up close, it's still one of the best weapons. As always the explosive combat shotgun is pretty much game-breaking.

I have tested one build myself. I made drugged "Amanda". She uses a lot of drugs has all the perks for it, has perk for automatics and I have used Rapid fire +25% plasma pistol(legendary drop). I made it automatic and fully upgraded it to rifle. Within the combined damage I could kill anything spending only 30 round magazine(but that was before survival 1.5). On survival 1.5 adding adrenaline + drugs combo it was just an overkill. And a very nice effect with psychojet slowdown.

You forgot to mention one thing about the gatling laser: if you use the nuclear physicist perk, which you should if you use power armor, that doubles the amount of shots you get from each fusion core, doubling the weight and cost value of each core

On the Gatling Laser, it gets kind of obvious that the Gatling is the best weapon for Survival when you take Nuclear Physicist without a doubt. That perk causes the gatling laser to use only half the fusion core's charge rather than a full core, even less if you take the Repair Bobblehead.

If you have nuka world then get aternus it is a never ending Gatling laser that also has unlimited ammo so if you want you can just run around holding left click everywhere you go.

if you can find a lucky laser musket, a six crank critical does so much damage it can probably 1 shot the courser you need to kill (I don't know if it will fit sure but 4 cranks will do like 80 or 90% of its health)

so far i have found that the best weapon for survival is the "Spray n' Prey" from Cricket. well worth dropping everything and running straight to Diamond City just for this. It doesn't hurt that it is the nicer looking gun in the game, and if you have the explosive perk early on you can use molotov cocktails to pay for it.

I haven't played F4 in a while, but I know for a fact that my load out would go as follows: Military gear, any chameleon piece I can get no matter what, Kellog's Pistol with maxed out receiver, silenced 10 MM with best semi-auto receiver and red dot sight for both, that's it. if you get max heavy gunner max bashing perk and max melee with the minigun shredding barrel it destroys in barrel range, and if yo have an explosive minigun youll damage yourself but youll do crazy damage

Hey I use the spray n pray fully upgrade with demolition perk and something else(rifleman perk I think , not playing rn) but almost anybody I fight in survival die with in 1-5 bullets and it tells me my stats for one shot is 63 damage but I believe that's not including explosive damage so I think I'm getting like 200+ dmg for a hit

im a huge fan of handmade rifles from Nuka World, only if you have an ammo crafting mod though. the weapons i run with: Handmade Rifle, The Gainer, Deliverer, Justice and Old Reliable. I might run with the unique laser rifle from Diamond City to start a fight. I also run with fully upgraded Assault Marine Armor, each piece deep pocketed, and a backpack mod adding more carry weight. I also travel with dogmeat (mods to make him more powerful and better ai), using lone wanderer and first 2 points of Strong Back. you pretty much have to play with mods on survival to really enjoy it, especially saving mods. I play on PS4, and there are GREAT mods for it, saving and fast travel survival, dogmeat overhauls, combat immersion etc etc

The Gauss rifle is a heavy weapon I'm pretty sure. Ranking up heavy weapons perk increased its damage. But I'm not 100% if it's a heavy or not, either way great vid:)

For the gatling Lazer if ya do the Nuka World DLC you can get the eternas the gatling Lazer with never ending affect and sense the game bugs out giving you infinite ammo with just one fusion core

The .50 cal anti-material rifle from the Creation Club rocks. Granted the ammo is a weight decision but at 300+ points damage will take care of a lot of enemies and being suppressed, it's my go to death dealer.

A 308 hunting rifle gets the same damage output. The FO4 anti material rifle is basically just a reskinned .50 Hunting Rifle. If you play on survival the 308 hunting rifle with something like instigating or 2-shot would be way better.

I'm just starting survival mode (level 9) and it seems so many of these are very heavy and loud. Like I would think the gatling laser and minigun would make way too much noise when you can only take 2-4 hits depending on what you're wearing. I would think sniper rifles would fit somewhere in here. I could be wrong just saying

To be honest, one of the best weapons in Survival Mode is some sort of suppressed long rifle that can be used in tandem to the rifleman, sniper, and stealth based perks. When undetected, you can pretty much one-shot most human enemies with a headshot.

I'mma be honest right now! Survival mode has fundamentally changed the game for me. It's so rewarding and fun- sure The Vertibird is buggy and sometimes causes my game to crash among other things. It's still extremely rewarding to strategize and plan ahead, for instance I prematurely made modifications to my strongest armour to be best against specific factions when I eventually decide who I side and need to fight. For instance I have armour modifications that boosts my energy resistance specifically so I'll be better protected against The Institute and BOS, I generally wear the highest damage resistance however but if I was to ever fight The two I'd switch the armour modifications so I can be better protected against the energy weapons and when I'm not I just adjust it for a more general feel like maxed Damage resistance and deep pocketed.

The minigun might use the lightest ammo but it's one of the heaviest guns. At the start I got around 100 lbs carry weight, 30 lbs for the minigun and 300 rounds is asking a lot. Not to mention I can burn through twice that on a death claw. Any weapon I carry in survival mode I strip down as much weight as practical. The minigun you can get under 23 lbs with the accelerated barrel, once you've got the third rank of gun nut at level 25. Until then it might be best to save it, and all the ammo you collect, for a rainy day. When you finally reach level 25 and approach the later half of the game, having a minigun with a few thousand rounds is too much fun.

Justice has saved my ass very often. I play stealth rifles, snipe as much as I can get away with, but sneak skill is still low because I invested in settlements, lead belly and overall firepower first. In places like Medford medical center the view is never good for sniping. And last night while running between settlements I got chased by a deathclaw. The staggering made the difference between DC steak and SS tartare.

I had a chat with one of my buddies about plasma weapons in Fallout 4 and he asked me why the ballistic damage on one of my plasma rifles was so much higher than the energy damage output. In fact, he went on to ask why plasma weapons create ballistic damage to begin with. From my understanding on the effects of plasma in real life, plasma can either be turned into a liquid or solid through electromagnetic forces. What if these plasma cartridges have powerful magnets in them and the plasma follows the magnet in liquid form and the magnet is pointed to administer piercing damage to the target?

Strength 10 with all the perks. Level 5 chemist, chems immunity and loads of buffjet & psychojet! Then use wounding or furious weapons.

not if you think about it. a backpack makes it EASIER to carry stuff, but it doesn't mean you can carry heavier stuff than your strength and stamina can realistically handle. but tbh, that's being a bit nitpicky.

Got myself immune to chems, got level 5 chemist, made lots of Psychojet and Buffjet and all I use now is the 2077 baseball bat upgraded to aluminium and saw blades and a furious Chinese sword, with electro stun.

i actually did get an instigating gauss rifle after hours savescumming a legendary farm it felt kinda pointless tbh - instigating is fantastic on it for sure but with a sneak crit focused build - you're already one shotting like 99% of the commonwealth anyway - literally the only things it helps with are the like 1k+ health and armor foes and even those its a little underwhelming and some other weapons would help more (taking a fifth of an enraged fog crawler's hp off instead of like an eighth - whoopee) it's just too much damage already - it's sorta like two shot nukes - there's little the one nuke couldn't fuck up already anyway also after hearing early on how you felt that one heavy weapon was probably one of the best heavies to use in survival that we might not see the gatling laser - but lo and behold it's the number one slot

I've been having fun just using stealth, and sniper rifles/ silenced weapons on my survival playthrough. Power armour seems to be boring.

Aeternus is the best weapon because it has unlimited and therefor essentially weightless ammo.

My strategy for going guns blazing is using the MIRV as a mortar and just wrecking face with my mini gun with explosive ammo

I carry around a Explosive .44, A Mighty Plasma Rifle, and a Mighty Combat Knife. Gunslinger maxed, and Rifle damage maxed.

Overseer's Guardian Silenced Sniper Rifle. Won't trade that for anything...well, 'xept Silenced Two-Shot Sniper Gauss Rifle. Deliverer is a go-to for sidearm and Le Fusil Terrible\Justice as a heavy shotgun option for open combat in close environments.

The explosive minigun is great, especially with the high-speed barrel. But don't forget about the wounding minigun, also equipped with the high-speed barrel.

imo, wounding's better than explosive. you can kill super high DR foes easier with wounding, and there's also never the issue of fucking killing yourself...

Good point there! And wounding can really add up quick with high fire-rate/multi-projectile weapons since it stacks!

@@18videowatcher41 yeah, especially with stuff like the minigun, due to it's fire rate, to shotguns, due to every shot being 7-8 hits - wounding combat shotgun's one of the most broken thing sin the game since ANY foe WILL go down in under 14 shots. an enraged fog crawler took almost two clips from a kiloton radium rifle once, weirdly all sneak shots (not sure why sneak lasted that long, i think the fog crawler might've glitched out) wounding combat shotgun? half the drum mag, even with like 2.5k ballistic resistance.

combat rifle is a .45 round and it can be used by both rifleman or commando perks depending if u going semi auto to full autoi dont think it comes as a 38 unless u make it one i always looted combat rifles which are always .45 round never looted one that was .38

What is your opinion of the assault rifle? 5.56mm ammo seems pretty common, and the AR has some nice mods available for it...

biostemm It's funny how pipe weapons are now viable due to over abundance of light weight ammo, mod ability, and the damage balance. Only level 23 currently and got me a wounding automatic pipe rifle and instigating pipe bolt action. Named them the 'commonwealth buzz saw' and 'good intentions'.

+biostemm It's not bad, but the .308 combat rifle is a little bit better. That said I think 5.56 ammo is cheaper to buy.

What attracts me most about the AR is that automated turrets drop the 5.56 ammo, it can be upgraded to an 80-round drum, and it seems to have the least amount of recoil when it has the best stock...
