8-Turn Sword of Khaine

8-Turn Guide to Claim Sword of Khaine for Malus Dark Blade to create a One-Man-Army / One Man Doomstack.
Malus can easily hit 90% Ward Save Cap, Fuse Armour with regeneration and output very high AoE damage with Sword of Khaine and Tzarkan abilities.
Guide is for Legenday/Very Hard Difficulty but should work on all difficulties.

I think that you can take it at turn 1 if the exploit that Legend used is still there :) Edit: this is actually interesting migration I would say and it is not like you are loosing all those turns on just moving from one place to another - you still gain some EXP and provinces :)

I'm having a good time with this! I put the warmaster army on the black arc and I'm slowly working my way towards lothern with malus obliterating everything by himself! I Fused a few items to make the armor of everlasting servitude to give him 10 ward save and regeneration too and a talisman of preservation. SO SO fun. Took a few tries tho

This still work as of 5.1 and here is the written guy if someone want. turn 1 - merge hero to malus - trade ghrond: da cage to 1110g - trade ghrond: 2 factions + non-aggression to 2340g - trade clar karond: slaughterhorn to 1330g - trade malekith: clan septik to 805g - trade nagarythe: karond kar to 470g - with malus army hit black rock and sacks - trade throgg: aesling to 515g - trade epidemius: all-seeing to 670g - 2 elixir then use rites (save scum if necessary for 6500g value) - move rites army to sea - occupy black rock and sell hag graef - trade brokenwheel: peace + non-a + military to 4900g - trade throgg: non-a to 320g - disband black ark - repair black rock and build quarry turn 2 - move rites army to NE of CoD and land, then switch lord + autoresolve - recruit lord and cod + recruit 2 units - move malus to hit east city and loot & occupy - trade epidemius: peace treaty + bilious cliffs to 5156g + (non-a possibly?) - disband malus - trade clar karond: peace to 3618g turn 3 - move rites army with march stances to N of hotek and loot & occupy - trade malekith: cod to 3885g turn 4 - move rites army with raid stances east toward twisted glade - trade malekith: hotek for gold - trade karond kar: peace to 2970g turn 5 - check malekith's ally mission - hit twisted glade then loot & occupy - move 2nd army to trade with rites army for full hp of 4 units - recruit 2 units to rites army - move 2nd army to sea - recruit 3rd army and move to sea turn 6 - forced march 3 army to sok - recruit black ark then build growth + slave hold + main building turn 7 - switch malus back to main army and hit sok and play manually if possible - repair shrine of widowmaker - destroy unnecessary building at soks turn 8 - build tier 2 Shrine of Widowmaker and slave-rushed it - may have to loot/sack N'kari or DE in order to have enough slaves to rush shrine.

That's a good idea, but I'm a bit busy at the moment with Shadows of Change coming, realistically I'll probably never get back around to do it. Edit: Actually if you want a simple, non-optimised version, this is basically it: 1. Get money and only SACK Black Rock don't occupy it until after you have saved 13200. 2.Once you have 13200 drink potion twice and do rite of the warmaster. Move your rite of the warmaster army into the water, then disband malus and Black ark. THEN Occupy Black Rock and Sell it to Malekith 3. Then go to Ulthuan, take Shrine of Khaine and Rush the Shrine of the Widowmaker up once you have the Slaves you need.

Trying to figure what happened to me Hag Graef was razed settlement stolen while making money I guess I gotta keep trying. This still works right?

You shouldn't really need Hag Graef. You just need to keep your Rite of the Warmaster army alive and get it to Ulthuan. This was from a few patches ago, so the AI armies will react differently etc you may need to react to what is going on on the campaign map - but all of the parts still work. You can still get the RoTW army on turn 1-2. You can still rush ulthuan , get slaves and bang up the Shrine of Khaine in a couple turns with Dark Elf Rush construction. It may take 9-10 turns depending on how many slaves you manage to save up before you get there.

This just doesn’t work for me. People don’t pay for me peace, the coming out of forced march and switching lords to attack doesn’t work, cylostra runs off, taurox attacks me in cylostras city.. etc. maybe it just doesn’t work on normal? 🤷‍♂️ Edit: the shrine is never even built at all in the city, so i gotta destroy a random building and rebuild it too

You don't need them to pay you for peace, that's not require, just a bonus if it happens. But you DO need them to pay you to join their wars on turn 1, otherwise it will delay you while you save the money. Diplomacy may be different on different difficulties. The switching lords thing only works if you are within the zero movement cost ring around the settlement(you need to be basically right on top of the settlement). If there is the tiniest gap between your army and the settlement it may not work. Try placing your army RIGHT next to the settlement before you switch lords(this part is a game mechanics exploit and will work on any difficulty). It doesn't matter if they build the shrine or not, you will pretty much always need to either repair it or demolish a building that's already there so you lose a turn either way.

Kill all the Elves on Ulthuan , loot their corpses and sack their cities. Just taking Malus plus black ark around the coast and sacking everything makes good money (the Black Ark building that boosts post battle loot stacks with multiple black arks, so you can have 2-3 following Malus for extra loot). Remember to put all your troops in your black arks for upkeep reduction where possible. You can also peace out with the Scourge of Khaine(orange dark Elves) or N'Kari then sell settlements to them, for some quick cash. Make sure you don't make any alliances or pacts with them (so you can betray them and steal the settlements back later). Hope this helps :)

How good is Sword of Khaine?

It's very good for killing stuff. Makes most Lords a one man army, or close to. But Malus is probably the strongest. Eventually the sword changes and starts giving you hefty faction penalties, but they are pretty manageable/ignorable for some factions.

Yeah you can maximize your slave gain by having as many lords as possible in every battle

@TheJuniblex Each extra Lord gives an extra change for Magic item drop and also increases the number of slaves you get from battles. Especially the extra slaves is very important for this strat so you can rush build the shrine asap.

@@MercytheMad I will say though that I think for someone who is more thoroughly familiar with the inner workings of this game it's probably not a problem. Like for example I forgot that disbanding Malus himself and taking him completely out of play means you can just put him back into any existing lord's army by replacing said lord. So when I disbanded his army, I kept him where he was, only to realize that taking Malus himself out of play was somewhat integral to this strategy for a reason that wasn't explained until later. Other stuff was mostly just names of places and factions being said too fast, and I had to keep looking carefully at the screen and pausing to see what you were talking about. I really appreciate this guide regardless though, it has made playing as Malus significantly more fun.

One thing I'd like to ask though, if you can answer, how do you think it's best to proceed after getting the SoK? I find that generally I'm left with a bit of a ramshackle force of dark elves, controlling tiny portions of broken provinces, a huge list of enemies, a non-existent economy, and not enough people to hold down provinces that get attacked. Do you think I should start making some alliances, or just start raiding all those territories near the Shrine of Khaine without worrying about setting down roots?

I don't find sword of khaine all that valuable due to campaign debuffs, but the fast migration to Ulthuan is interesting. Better than conquering sparse low value settlements in chaos wastelands, and seems to score a lot of points with Malekith for early confederation.
