I was hoping this video was going to delve into actual Terminator mysteries, like WTF was the purpose of the hydrobots in T4? Did Skynet really believe building these things was an efficient way to kill humans, or could those resources have been better put to use building land based machines to kill people where most humans actually live? Instead, we just got a re-cap.
@Radb707 Жыл бұрын
Uh, humans need water. Many survivors would get it from a source like a river and boil the water. Hydrobots could kill humans there sneakily and also travel along sewage pipes and other underground water filled tunnels easily...which as we see in the first movie, much of humanity retreated to. Imagine the city of Venice with hydrobots. It's really not that weird. Also your suggestion to build land based machines is kind of eh. They should focus on building aerial machines because the human race is not going to be building more helicopters and planes, thus aerials would have an advantage even as just recon. The land based would just root them out.

We never saw them throw that in too and considering that once the machine started rolling again after this T-800 broke it off, they might not have been able to find it too easily before the emergency services (eventually) turn up to the steel mill. If Carl was sent before the T-1000 the Resistance would have picked up the energy pulse from the Time Displacement Equipment which is how they knew that SKYNET had sent two Terminators back. 1B: Why didn't the Resistance send a protector for John or at the very least have Uncle Bob warn Sarah and John that there were more Terminators out there? 2: How the hell did Terminators sent by SKYNET keep arriving after the timelines had diverged? Once the events of T2 took place any Terminators sent back by SKYNET should only arrive in timeline branches where SKYNET is created specifically whatever branch they are sent back from. 3: How did Carl find John? Remember the reason the T1 T-800 and the T-1000 were sent to the locations and points in time they were sent to is because that was when SKYNET knew roughly where Sarah or John was. Even if SKYNET had some idea where John was a few months after Judgment Day there is no reason to believe he and Sarah would be in the same area in the new timeline. Not a plothole but why would a franchise which has always included moth human females and human males in its protagonist teams suddenly decide three women and a robot is a good team makeup? Even if they absolutely needed to kill John, and IMO they could have had him injured and thus unable to fight in the field letting Dani lead while he joins Sarah in the teacher and advisor role instead, they could and IMO should have had at least one human male on the main team. Give Dani a second brother, have one of the group they crossed the border with join them, or even have Sarah's military contact join the team. There were lots of ways to do this and have it make sense and kept with the men and women fighting side by side theme of the franchise.

Originally Skynet didn't launch the nukes - or if it did it took orders from the government to do it. Remember Kyle's line from the first movie "Nobody knew who started it." It became sentient in the aftermath and that's when it decided to wipe out humanity's remains. But because of T1 and the hardware left behind Skynet became sentient sooner, before the war. This also explains why the T-800 in T1 moved so relatively slow and clunky but in T2 it was more fluid because the T-800 advanced sooner too.

This is just a theory on my end but I believe T2-3D Battle Across Time, may be the answer to that. While it was a theme park attraction that had to condense the plot, it showed the Terminator come out of a time portal fully clothed on a motorcycle with a shotgun. I believe with each trip back in time changing the past, Skynet in the future is learning and upgrading, so the Time-Displacement Equipment can eventually create a portal instead of instant teleportation and permit non-living stuff to go through. @@SpielSatzFail The T2 novel points out that the T-1000 was ALREADY self-aware before it was even sent back in time. It was so advanced for a prototype that it was the one thing Skynet actually feared, but Skynet took a chance sending it back to kill young John. It would either complete it's mission or it would fail and Skynet can wash it's hands of it. It already had the free-will that the T-800 lacked for the first half of the movie before John and Sarah reset it's CPU, yet it still chose to carry out it's mission, so it's reasonable that it did learn to enjoy torture. Killing the truck driver was just the T-1000 learning what's like to be pissed off over it's target eluding it. My theory about Kyle always being John's dad is that were never actually see the original future and all the ones we do see are the result of time travel. My idea is that there was a future where John didn't exist. That future's Kyle got sent back in time for some other reason then eventually met Sarah. They fell in love, conceived John and created the first timeline where John was leader of the Resistance (Not necessarily the one T1 Kyle came from though it could be.)
@michaelstaengl134911 ай бұрын
The story of the Terminator-franchise, before it got butchered by Terminator Dark Fate was a stable time loop. There was no "original timeline", it always was the one presented in The Terminator and Terminator Judgement Day as the two movies which are the most consistent in this movie series. You missed that Kyle Reese told the story of John Connor to young Sarah Connor. If he would come from an alternate timeline, he could not have known about John Connor.
@roguerifter972411 ай бұрын
@@michaelstaengl1349 The future is changeable without overwriting what came before. We know that because Sarah and John were still concerned that Judgment Day might occur in 97 after T2. If the Kyle Sarah knew came from the new future they wouldn't have been expecting Judgment Day until 2003. IMO the way that makes the most sense is a Terminator multiverse with the attempts to change the past and the future creating new timelines without destroying the older ones. And again we don't know that the first timeline we saw was the original timeline or if it was the result of a timeline split.

That's the nature of a stable time loop which depends on itself and creates itself. All historic events pre 1984 ➡In 1984 the T800 and Kyle Reese arrives, both battles over Sarah Connor, Reese fathers John, the Terminator gets destroyed ➡ Sarah Connor becomes the women which is the legend to the humans of the future. ➡ Thanks to the surviving parts of the T800 Skynet could be developed. ➡ Skynet destroys much of humanity ➡ The resistance wins the war, Skynet sents the T800 back to 1984, the Resistance under adult John sents Kyle Reese into the past ➡In 1984 the T800 and Kyle Reese arrives, both battles over Sarah Connor, Reese fathers John. ... ➡ In the future after the defeat of Skynet history continues normally. It's that simple, no need to overthink it. There's no "original John", John always was meant to be the son of Kyle Reese due to this stable time loop.

I think John's original father was Sarah's roommate's boyfriend. The actor who played Slider in Top Gun also played the boyfriend but I can't remember his name. He survived against the Terminator longer than anyone not a main character. There isn't a lot of background on that guy but he was strong, healthy, and resilient. Plus, he was the only man in her life for John's birthday to be close. Another possibility is the first Terminator movie isn't the first timeline. Maybe a Terminator already went back and killed John's original father because there were better records of him for Skynet to hunt him with. Only it didn't change the future enough so they had to go back for Sarah, since she was the more important person.

You all here surely don't understand the concept of a stable time loop which has two or three key-years. A stable time loop is what we see in the movie The Terminator. 1st = The Resistance wins the war. 2nd = Skynet sent a Terminator back to 1984 to remove Sarah Connor from the timeline thus securing his victory. 3rd = The Resistance in the future sents Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect Sarah. 4th = Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor fall in love and make John Connor. 5th = The Terminator fails to kill Sarah and becomes the template for the development of Skynet. 6th = The way into the future is secured. Skynet is being developed and John Connor was born 9 months after the events of Terminator 1. 7th = Skynet wipes out most of humanity. 8th = The resistance forms. 9th = John Connor becomes the leader, he knows many things about Terminators. 10th = The Resistance wins the war. 11th = Skynet sent a Terminator back to 1984 to remove Sarah Co..... and so on. It's that simple but unfortunately many too used to think in a linear way. The Terminator and Terminator Judgement Day were the only two movies which are consistent in their depiction of this stable time loop. All other movies played around with the timeline and messed it up by creating the waves of alternate reality timelines until Terminator Dark Fate butchered even the last remainder of the original stable time loop which was ignored by all other Terminator movie producers.
@asimpson16411 ай бұрын
@@michaelstaengl1349 I do like that idea. However, time is linear even if perception of time isn't. For a stable time loop the has to be a terminal point of the instant before the loop begins, the last fixed point prior to the loop. That point would have to be the second just before, or possibly even earlier, the first Terminator's time vortex starts affecting the area around it. At that very moment Sarah Connors isn't pregnant. So in the original prime timeline how does Sarah Connors become pregnant? We know John exists in the future in the prime timeline because he wins the war which lead Skynet to send back a Terminator. Kyle Reese was not alive in the prime timeline to get Sarah pregnant but we know someone has to around the same time. The second timeline and seemingly all further timelines has Kyle Reese as John's father. Someone had to be John's father for John to be born and win the war because the machines wouldn't have created a time machine and Kyle Reese would never have been sent back. I'm sure you know all of this already but I wanted to lay out my thought process for errors I can't/won't/didn't see. Now, if we are mistaken about the original timeline because Kyle Reese gives us bad information then it could all be different. It could be possible in prime minus 1 timeline there was not a John Connor, and Kyle Reese found a way to go back in time after the humans lost. He goes to 1984 meets Sarah (randomly) and they have a family where he teaches them about what happens in the future, thus creating a great general who has the knowledge and ability to win the war for humans. If this happened it would be in favor of your stable closed time loop.

First of all the T-800 is not a true cyborg because it can survive without the organic parts. True cyborgs would be Robo-Cop , and The Borg. The way I make sense of this series is that Skynet needs certain events to happen. Ie it needs future John to send Kyle back to stop the T-800. But I think Skynet puts a flaw deep in the T-800’s program assuring it will not succeed which leads to its own creation. The T-1000 was there to make sure John stays with his Mom and has proper motivation. The X was sent back to get the timeline back on track and make sure that john and others would be in the right place after judgement day. The problem is it leads to a time loop that Skynet cannot break. The crappy movie that is Genasary was Skynet’s attempt at breaking that loop but that lead to more problems.

I remember reading that cameron said skynet deeply regretted its knee jerk reaction of nuking and killing humans, that it was akin to a infant having a reflex it didnt know better or the full effect of its actions.
