Thank you, I know what I am dealing with right now is exactly that, low dopamine. I have been lethargic, stuck, uninterested , hard time doing anything,etc. --depressed. High anxiety as well leading to all of this--you advice is something I will begin to put into action. Awesome video BTW

I have problems with high anxiety/ leads to depressive feelings but now I am struggling. Doctor prescribed 12.5 mgs seroquel to help me sleep. This was last March--took it for a short time but stopped, did not like the dreams and sleep was not a great quality sleep. Recently she suggest I take 25 mgs. And that was giving me more anxiety, so suggested I go down to 12.5 mgs. Again. Sleep is not a restful sleep, I am trying to incorporate what you suggest into my life, going to drop this seroquel, I am not comfortable with this stuff at all. Oh, and I have been on Effexor 225 for quite a few years, but for now I will continue, when I start feeling stronger mentally and get a great schedul going I may lower dose slowly with my doctors help of course. Anyway--you are awesome, glad I came upon your video--and yes I love that painting, love those colors. Thanks you

The " I start feeling stronger mentally" really stuck out at me. If you don't mind me asking, what it particular is going on in your life that makes you feel mentally weak?
@deniserouthierledoux81335 жыл бұрын
Michael Unks I have always had high anxiety---but for years I was doing great. Back in 2016 my hubby was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, but prior to that I was one who was spending too much time on my IPad, wanted an recipe, went online, wanted to learn how to, went on Pinterest, in other words I was stagnet, did not walk, was not interested in going out, sent my hubby to do groceries, sort of stayed in the house not realizing I was making things for myself. I saw that the blue light from cell phone, IPad,etc. Is not good, it robs your dopamine. That was a question I wanted to ask you. It’s obvious I lack dopamine the way I feel---have been meditating for two years, well, I had a brief period where I stopped but have started again , twice a day. Transcendental meditation. Is this true about the blue light robbing our dopamine after spending a lot of time on computer????
@MichaelUnks5 жыл бұрын
Denise Routhier Ledoux I believe your mind is more powerful than evidence...meaning what you believe about something can have a stronger effect than what’s actually happening. However I do believe spending too much time disconnects you from your world and the people in it. I’ve noticed those are say that the feel down generally aren’t involved with other people...as in a small group in church, or any other group involvement that adds meaning to their life. If you don’t kind me asking, do you believe in God? Involved in a church where you feel you belong?

As a 10 year long meth, opiate, and Benzodiazapen addict, I'm 3 or 4 months clean and I feel worse than ever. I still feel like shit every morning and just have no motivation to do absolutely anything. I have no motivation to do anything, not even go look for a job or get out of bed. This inspires me to get up and try some of these. I've been jobless, friendless, no girlfriend, no money, no nothing at all for 7 months now and have had 3 suicide attempts and got locked in crisis stabilization for 5 to 7 days all 3 times... I feel so hopeless but this is inspirational.

Dr. Michael Unks Thanks for the quick reply sir. I graduated high school with honors and went to college and could have done a lot of positive things, but I took a wrong turn and I ruined everything I had going for me. Get more sleep like 8 hours 4. Meditate like Read namaz 5. Listen to music like listen to Surah Ar Rahman 6. Make a check-list like daily to do list 7. Don't get attached to anything like don't use much of social media TV gaming texting 8. Build momentum means like being consistent by doing the right thing every single day Your welcome

After many yrs of not exercising due to age and weight gain I started to lift weights. Then I realized that I had to do cardio too. I felt a bit defeated b/c to begin with I hate lifting weights & then thought I was too old to dance around in group exercise. My sisters suggested I try again b/c I was contemplating resigning myself to take the easy route quit & not care about getting toned. Well this week I tried different group exercises like Zumba, high & low cardio, & a pump class all to upbeat fun music. I was so energized, exhilarated & happy. I even lifted weights right after as well and didn’t feel bored. The lesson for me is to reward your with something that is healthy and makes you happy before doing a dull task it made it more than tolerable for me. What is also motivating is that today there are people of all ages exercising, which I find inspirational! Just remember to pace yourself where you are, to have fun first, and to put the right amount of exertion.

4- meditation depends on how you define it but better to choose DEEP BREATH for a 1 min to 5 min, or to think deeply each time about something: stars, anatomy, sea, flowers,... 5- depends because many contain subliminals, so lead to a toxic dopamine doing auto destruction by time. From my experience.

I like your humor and the picture is great. All suggestions are good ones. May I suggest that these are all great things to do, this and the serotonin video, but when one is low on serotonin and dopamine and is very depressed these can be very hard things to do. You might want to address that in your videos. I think they are all things that will help depression because they will increase serotonin and dopamine but can be overwhelming to do all of these things when one is very depressed. I'm not being critical it's just an added thought.

jo ho, thanks for commenting! You made excellent points, when you're down you don't feel like doing many of these this. I've learned how true this quote from Emerson is, "do the thing, then have the power." many times it's the action that you take when you don't feel like it, that rewards you with dopamine. I was planning on doing a video on hopelessness, and feeling lonely, maybe I can mention ways in those videos. Thanks again for your input, my friend!

Dear Micheal, I am suffering terrible depression, partly due to IBS, partly due to the terrible weather, & low light levels, we have been experiencing for several weeks now in S.W. U.K. (Don't bother with a coat, just wear your wetsuit & get a good head torch in a matching colour.) & partly due to struggling with some health problems such as very bad C.F.S. I now feel so lacking in energy & motivation that I am really not in a good position to help myself. I have never smoked but I have heard that nicotine substantially increases dopamine & I wondered if using nicotine patches for a short while till my dopamine levels get back up to a level that would enable me to do more to help myself would be a practical & reasonably healthy thing to do? What do you think? Thankyou for the information. Yours Desperate.

Sarah Strong I don’t think the nicotine patch is a good idea. I’m curious to know what does your social life look like? Close with friends, family, involved with any community like a church or volunteer organization?
