I just made a list of warm up drills for turning, clutch control and wheelies. The free guide can be found here. www.trialsprogression.com/drills

Watching Pat Simage, pro-rider, is just a wishful idea for this beginner and I will never begin to achieve. Tommy T., I have followed your videos which are from more of a beginner vantage point and very useful. Keep them coming; you are my tutor/sponsor. Also, the quality of your presentations are excellent. Thank you, Bruce from Yuba

Bingo!!!👌 Thanks Bruce. That means a lot. 😃 That is exactly my goal, from a non-pro perspective to take you along my journey in trials and throw some tips along the way. I appreciate the comment tremendously. 👊

I am flattered. But you really ought to look to someone who knows more. I highly recommend going to a training class or clinic. Get involved with the local club and ride with the better riders there. I'm still new on this journey but I'm trying to break things down from a beginner perspective of someone who thinks about it like a beginner such as me and also add drills for further skill development. One thing that has helped me, when practicing on concrete - I reduced the front tire air pressure a little. The extra stability from more tire contacting the ground was helpful. Now that I understand the feeling, I am back to proper pressure. Another great video Tommy T.

First off I’d like to say great job on the channel. I have watched quite a few of your videos in the past year after picking up a trials bike and have had a recent discovery in static balance that I thought you might want to pass along. I have always been focusing on adding peg pressure to stay in balance and have recently discovered focusing on how to unweight the peg. I.e. if the bike is falling to the right. Instead of applying more pressure to the left peg I unweight the right peg, thereby increasing peg pressure on the left. It is a long story how I came about this discovery and apologize if you have talked about this in your videos already but thought I’d pass along to help those just learning how to static balance.

Great point. I will definitely pass it on. 👍 Thank you. I had another breakthrough of my own I'll share along with this point. Thanks

I’m also a first year trials guy so it’s interesting to see someone else learning and having the same struggles. I have noticed that static balance seems a little harder with the front wheel downhill, but maybe I’m just doing something wrong. I finally have some nice stuff to practice on in my yard, and had a blast with it last weekend. Mostly logs, boulders, and a couple sections I built on a hill. The downhill to uphill 180 turn is my nemesis, but now that I have a nice spot cleared, I’m determined to figure it out. I enjoy your videos. Keep them coming!

Total 👌 agree. Down hill to uphill is hard for sure. I had to learn to squat so much more. So fun to have a plac close, makes riding a daily thing of possible rather than weekly and you'll improve so much faster. Thanks fo commenting. I feel static with front slightly lower makes steering more responsive, so I have more feel with movements.

Its all about practice and repitions and making adjustments to achieve a good form/technique/habits. Simple exercises can go along way in getting better. No one gets better by not practicing. You would be amazed how many hours good riders actually put in to make it look easy...

Wondering what camera you wear on you when you're filming? Also when attempting the zap technique I can't seem to get enough RPM just wondering when you start to pull your clutch in how to get over the fear of the high RPM. I am getting left but I never seem to have enough power. Thanks your videos are very good.

Camera is a insta360 oneX2 chest mount. Ah yes, the RPM anxiety. 😬 I totally get what you are dealing with. 😉 I was stuck there for over 3 months. I have a video coming on hill climbs that deals partly with this issue, but I'll probably make a dedicated one as I know it's a real problem. Try just reving the bike with feet on ground CLUTCH IN 1/3, then 2/3rd, then 100%. It's scary but to throttle stop helps with anxiety. Don't go anywhere, just revving. Then try reving and drive up a hill to dissipate energy. Your brain needs to know it's ok and that takes time. I know it's different when in a zap. Have you tried without front finger on brake? Also, you'll need to learn to drop the front wheel just by pulling in the clutch. Keeping RPM up helps. Rather than drop front by decreasing throttle. If you do the later, it's very hard to wind it back up in time. If you watch my zap playlist you'll probably see the difference. Especially the one from trials training center
