The clearness, tone, agility, range, and power of Whitney's voice is simply unparalleled. In the 80s, her voices sound much lighter than it does in the 90s. This classic cover is beautiful. I believe it was originally sang by Marilyn and Billy Davis, Jr.

teleherzog, you've got it right in my opinion. 1985-1990 was Whitney's Divinely Gifted vocals, 1991-1994 was Whitney's Superhuman vocals, 1995 was Whitney's Exceptional vocals. 1996-1997 was Whitney's Great vocals. 1998-2000 was Whitney's Very Good vocals. 2001-2003 was Whitney's Damaged vocals. First half of 2004 was Whitney's In-Recovery vocals. Second half of 2004 was Whitney's Recovered/Healed/Great vocals kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaHUoYGEoct0pJI but in 2005 she had her worst relapse and so 2006-2012 she sang with Damaged vocals but she still had some Great moments in there like kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJvRgYWQpcxpg9E

Probably her best era here. It would have been very interesting for her to get a real Jazz Fusion band, she deserved it, sax player is too weak. Also record company unable to release at least one live recording is beyond me, that's what she did best, it shows how that crazy business works anyway, you're just a pawn.
