8 - Wireless radios - Introduction to Fire Alarms

I'm explaining how fire alarm systems work for new technicians or other employees who deal with these systems. This is my 8th video in a string of many Khan Academy-styled lessons. This video itnroduces how wireless radios can be used to send alarm signals from a protected premises to a dispatch center.

Not all Radios use zone imputs. A lot like the IGSM'S Through Honeywell firelite. Their communicators need 2 telco imputs. Can you make a video regarding more wiring related to radio's and other forms of communication? Your videos are great and i'm pretty confident in my ability with fire so far aside from the peripheral's part regarding radio wiring etc.

In the tones alarm system, does the tones transmitter module always place a signal on thre OUT lines to the central dispatch? Im trying to understand why a break in the line to the central dispatch would signal a trouble condition. I thought that only when an alarm or trouble was indicated would there be a signal on the OUT to the central dispatch.

I fried a Radio Transmitter by reconnecting the batteries after testing them. Somehow a wire connection got loose from one of the battery terminal and when I try to connect my last connection to the battery terminal a big spark came through. When we finished testing the fire alarm devices and we called to verify alarms and signals Central Monitoring Agency said they didn't received any signals. So we figure that the Radio Transmitter got fried. What would be the methodological way to fixed that Radio Control panel?

Is this a DACT - Digital Alarm Communicator Transmitter?

No, a DACT is the dialer in the panel, the radio replaces phone lines.
