I've trained for the 1-5-9 for so many years, and suddenly in the middle of a huge training cycle I tried it again, finally with success. Psyched about this goal!

That's actually not a finger pull up because the grip is very good, but 100kg is crazy.

It’s equivalent to running a 4 1/2 minute mile imo. Very impressive, takes years of work or insane genetics plus natural talent. It’s not the end of the journey, buts a major stepping stone

I know the text says that below.. but like the world record is 230 lbs, I doubt a random climber is only 10 lbs away so I don't believe it but can't confirm it myself

I compete in street lifting and know many guys that can pull up more than 80kg and only one of them is not on gear, the others take anavar and tren. They are also way more muscular than him, it’s still impressive but he’s clearly on gear

​@@redditfm4578 he's not on gear lol. Just admit that climbers are some of the strongest athletes. I know people close to me climbing v14's that can do a 100kg pull up. It's hard but it can be done naturally

100kg weighted pull up is absolutely nuts. Literally adding more than his bodyweight and it was even on a bar. The level of back, forearm and hand strength is unreal.

To put it in perspective, Magnus Midtbo has long wanted to do a 1-5-9 (even including his years competing) and is yet to do it. This is incredible.

it was on the jug portion of the hangboard. even though it was on jugs and wasn't a full rep, it was still absurdly impressive. i dont think it would be possible for any human to do a 220 lb pullup on a crimp ever

@@redditfm4578 There are well done studies that show what your AVERAGE climber should be able to pull based on what grade they can climb. And these are measured on hang boards, not on an actual pull up bar where you have better grip and doesn't require any finger strength. The AVERAGE climber in the highest grades amongst men average at being able to pull 170%+ of their body weight. And that is kind of the baseline requirment strength wise to be able to do it. Emil is just among the most elite climbers physically in the world.

respect. I've been chasing a goal for 8 years as well. kept coming up 3, 2 or even 1 point short. a month ago started off poorly but kept with it ... cracked the score by 3 points so feeling your achievement!

I'm 38 and I started rock climbing 4 months ago because I can't skateboard anymore. Climbed my first v2 this week and I'm chuffed. Anyway well done buddy with the 1.5.9 I tried that and don't understand how you guys can even hold onto the first one. Big respect dude well done

8 years! What dedication! Until today I've never seen anything like this stuff except for what you see in the movies. This is truly inspirational. I don't do rock climbing and I'm probably too old and banged up to start learning now, but thanks for the videos cuz I think I could transfer and adapt some of the character traits you guys Express in two different areas of my personal life. Self-control commitment. Patience and endurance. Having vision and seeing it through to full completion.

as someone who does calisthenics, this is an amazing skill. It's basically an explosive one arm pullup but put to use.
