Simple, happier and healthier than living in USA… it’s not just the apartment but the surrounding environment such as walkable streets, stores and events/ activities… good for you both 👍👏💪

Thank you for the video. I admire your resourcefulness. With cost of living pressures affecting so many in the west, you are providing an example of an alternative. I see you as a winner - genuinely. Cheers

Yep my last month elec bill... for a small house was $28. :) Dave... spending big on the expensive Ramen noodles... non of those cheap ones (it makes a difference). You seem very portable. I prefer the table top double burner attached to a real LPG tank. Filling the whole tank costs $5 and lasts me nearly a year. When filling you have to watch them to be sure they fill to the correct PSI... likely same with the small cans. Thats a great apartment for $80 I thought it would be smaller. Looks like you don't live there though... just staying because of the suitcase and no wardrobe, lack of linen etc.

It's nice to know there is an alternative to homelessness. Many Thai people live in spartan apartments for around 85 USD a month.

Thanks Dave👍Great Price on the Apartment. I spent a lot of time in Cuba in the Past and it was Hot Especially in the Summer every-time I used AC at Night i would end up with a Head Cold and Sore Throat the next Day I preferred using the Fan to keep things Cool. Great Tour of Your Apartment. Just a thought Dave if You Shaved Off Your Beard and Moustache You would look 20 Years Younger. 🙂💙👍Things are much Cheaper than here in Canada.👍

Cozy Cambodian apartment. I have a warmer light for my place because the bright white lights all over Asia drive me crazy

Hi Dave. You’re living on my old road. Concrete Drain Road. I lived in an apartment building there. Yes, you don’t need much. The basics are fine. You don’t have a friendly little gecko or two sharing your apartment with you? Having a low electric bill by using only fan, and never using air-con is best….I agree. My neighbours in my building were shocked at how low my electric bill was. Take care. Namo Buddhaya, 😃 ✈️ ☸️ 🌴 🌴 🌴 🇰🇭 🇹🇭 🇱🇦 🇲🇲 🇱🇰

Dave, your face is beautiful! (im sure your mother told you that). You have obviously met a wonderful wife/gf who is satisfied with rhe more important things in life rather than marrying a foreigner so she can pose next to the new Lexus. Maybe we can get the love story one day.

I feel like I cloud live in a place like that but I would invest in my comfort. Table, chairs, wardrobe recliner curtains. It’s not hard to get these amenities.

Hey Dave! Great video as always. :) Got a question - I'm planning to retire to Siem Reap in a few years. How safe is the wifi over there? Since I'm still going to be a US citizen, all of my banking will be done online. Any tips on how to keep from being hacked?
@154Slappy12 күн бұрын
@erbxvdfb I want to get an eSim card. I want to keep my US number in case I get a security text if there's a banking issue. My current smartphone doesn't have eSim capability. Need to upgrade and do a little more research. Money isn't an issue, thankfully. :)

@@154Slappy Good move to get a newer phone with eSIM capabilities. Also look into the possibility of wifi calling on whatever carrier you go with and activate it in your home country beforehand.
@154Slappy5 күн бұрын
@Gurkha9 Thanks! I'm 99% sure I'll get an eSim card. But how secure is internet connection (in general) is it in an apartment? I'll be doing banking with my laptop there and I've never done that abroad before. I'm petrified of being hacked.

Ive often wondered about the outside padlock - whats to stop someone from throwing a padlock on the door while youre inside and trapping you inside?
@RinaBrown-zt7ks12 күн бұрын
That's a good question but padlock outside are everywhere in Asia and they don't have that problem if that happened they can call home owner friends or neighbors they will come right the away.
@scifistorybook11 күн бұрын
WHY would someone waste money on a padlock and do that? LOL
@ClubFred611 күн бұрын
When I rented our gate outside our door had a padlock and I always made sure that it was not left around for some fucker to lock me in. Weird shit can happen.
@scifistorybook11 күн бұрын
@ An unattended open padlock left outside a door was not a part of the scenario of your first comment. LOL
@ClubFred611 күн бұрын
@@scifistorybook A lot of shitardery can happen anywhere let alone in Cambodia. Ive heard of vigilante stuff happening. A building like Daves has no security - its ok when you literally dont own anything - not so great when you have some stuff inside. So say you pissed some people off. They can fuck you up in a lot of ways, but if they just want to 'catch' you first - they can imprison you inside your room with a simple padlock. Anyhow, what if your place was on fire and you were locked inside? What if your Landlord was a real piece of work (not uncommon there) and put a lock on it. What if some drunk just happened to want to be an idiot?

Good enough my friend. A frugal abode but obviously well suited for your needs. Minimalism certainly has degrees of of it for people who are not the same and differ in requirements ? I'm an old senior alone but do have a bit more requirements for my frugal but comfortable lifestyle. Perhaps age has some to do with that as I am well past 70 ! Location would be of prime importance for me and proximity to plentiful good food nearby. > Sean ( Frugal Wanderer ) has his life - "condensed" - and well suited it seems to $600 or a bit less ! Apparently $150 for rent. He loves the low cost food available and doesn't cook. - - - That would be me ! --- Your video for living on $800 / month is one I remember well -&- would suit me just fine most of the time. ✌🙏👋

@@Don-Muttley yeah, I am not trying to be mean, but I've seen people on the streets that look better. Still has money for beer and cigarettes though. Hope he never has a health crisis emergency. As for working - its very difficult for an average barang to earn any decent income in Cambodia. Life is all about choices and Dave has made his.
