The Cambodian Government really need to change the name to 'Arrival document'. I see alot of confusión on Facebook and internet concerning the latter e-document.

Immigration officers are racist don't go there. Better go Vietnam, Thailand or Japan I had always heard that Cambodian people are kind and welcoming. However, my experience with Cambodia's immigration officers was the opposite. Unfortunately, they displayed blatant racism and discrimination. Despite warnings from friends, I decided to visit Cambodia and was shocked when I was denied entry and sent back to my country. I had everything prepared: a paid round-trip flight, a two-week hotel reservation worth $1,000, pre-booked transportation, over $2,000 in cash, and a credit card for extra expenses. I even had an approved eVisa. Despite meeting all the requirements, the immigration officers refused me entry and sent me back without providing a valid explanation. My advice to travelers, especially those with darker skin tones-whether African, Indian, Muslim, or otherwise-is to avoid Cambodia. Spend your money in countries like Thailand, Malaysia, or Vietnam, where the people and immigration officers are far more respectful and civilized. Cambodia’s immigration process is not only frustrating but also humiliating. After being denied entry to Cambodia, I was sent to Malaysia, where the immigration officers treated me kindly and professionally. I stayed there for two weeks, then spent another two weeks in Vietnam, and finally 30 days in Thailand. In all these countries, the immigration procedures were smooth and respectful. They simply checked my passport, flight tickets, and hotel bookings without unnecessary questioning or hostility. The Cambodian immigration process, however, felt like being interrogated in a CIA bureau. The officers yelled, asked nonsensical questions, and treated me with complete disrespect. It was deeply disheartening. If Cambodia continues this behavior, travelers worldwide will eventually choose other destinations like Vietnam and Thailand, which offer a far more pleasant experience. The most disappointing part was their apparent incompetence. The officers couldn’t pronounce my name, misidentified my country of origin, and laughed among themselves during the questioning. One officer said, “No, go back,” without providing a clear reason. When I asked why, they shouted at me. I was ultimately put on a plane and deported to Malaysia. In conclusion, the Cambodian immigration officers either lack proper training or basic education. They pretended to read my documents but couldn’t even understand simple details like my itinerary or approved eVisa. It was shocking to witness such unprofessionalism. If you’re planning a vacation, choose countries with educated and respectful immigration officers. Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and Japan are all excellent options. Avoid Cambodia if you want to avoid discrimination and unnecessary stress. My experience there left me disgusted and disheartened.

Happy New Year, Dave! Got an interesting question - because you live in such a hot climate, do you ever come across snakes anywhere (especially venous ones)? I know mosquitoes are common, but are there any creatures that newbies to Cambodia should keep an eye out for? Anything that gets inside apartments from time to time?
@DaveDoesCambodia2 күн бұрын
I haven't run into many snakes here. But there's always certain critters that get into your apartment. Mainly insects but I've had frogs, lizards, and always geckos make their way in.

Perhaps -- Dave -- I hope to have sold all my stuff & got ready to move by Sept / Oct 2025. Arrival in S R is my only goal. Plan to stay as long as I can tolerate the heat ? --- The Philippines offers me a cooler area @ 2,000 above sea level & temps year round from 86 hi in summer & 66 low in winter ! An hour S of Manila Airport. Cost of living is a bit higher there than in S R. --- Hope to make it over there & look forward to meeting many of you already there making videos. 🤗 Have a few beers & get acquainted. 👍❤🙏✌🤞🎯🍻

Greetings, Dave, and Happy New Year to you, sir! I appreciate your channel and the content that you provide. I plan on visiting Cambodia in 2025 with the interest of perhaps retiring there in a few years. While enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan in the mid 1980s. During which time in southeast Asia I had the opportunity to visit the Philippines as well as South Korea. I absolutely love this area of the world. I was born and grew up in New Jersey, however my mom and dad are both from the Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina. Dave, when I do make my arrangements to visit Cambodia, particularly Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. I will give you a heads up, it would be indeed a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet you. In closing I would like to say that I will make it my business to provide you with a financial contribution on this Thursday. Take care sir, and keep up the good work 👍

I'm looking forward to meeting you when you get here. We can meet somewhere after your arrival and take a little tour of the town. Just keep me updated with your travel plans and I'll see you when you arrive. I have a sister in Florida but I've never been there to visit. I occasionally email her to make sure she didn't get eaten by a gator....lol

After 13 - months living in PP, and nearly - 3 - months in Siem Reap completed. I plan to retire in SR permanently. This town is unique in many ways. The weather, people, culture, food, and price of living here.

Dave, I'm loving your videos. I'm planning to move to Cambodia in July. (Either PP or SR - TBD) My question might be a bit out of your wheelhouse, but I'll ask anyway - what are your observations and thoughts about the live music and entertainment in SR, NOT including karaoke or lady bars. How much live music is there? Does that scene appear to be static, growing or shrinking? Thx in advance.
@DaveDoesCambodia2 күн бұрын
The music scene here is getting better by the year in my opinion. The amount of bars and clubs with open mic nights or hiring bands has grown since I've been here. You can, on any given night, listen to Rick, country, pop, or traditional Khmer music at any number of venues around town.

Saving this one for when i visit in March (first time visit as I seek a retirement spot) because Pub Street sounds a lot like Khao San Rd in Bangkok. I was never more miserable than when I walked through there.

Haven’t been there since 2017. Except for Pub Street…it looks like it’s changed a lot. Sok San Road is growing up for sure. And looks like the TEMPLE group is expanding business.
