Nice job on this 70HP Johnson! I would get an engine crane from Harbor Freight to lift it off the stand and put it on your boat when you are ready to rig it. Especially if you dont have anyone around to help. Your stand appears to be high enough for the legs of the stand to get underneath. Again nice job!

Thank you, yea this is a tall stand. I have an engine lift for some reason I thought I could pick it up lol.

@@HookinGears nice work man. i live in florida. outboard prices are insane down here probably compared to anywhere in the states.

@@darrenclark9776 same I’m in Florida on the west coast just have to keep looking and be willing to put some elbow grease into some of these engines but for the price these old evinrudes get the job done

@@darrenclark9776 You are so right! $80 is a steal! I stayed on FB Marketplace and was lucky to find a 81 60HP Johnson in St Pete (no rust and clean) for $400. 139/140 compression I rigged it on my bass boat and swapped the carbs from my 80 50HP Johnson parts motor . She runs like a champ.

@@alg335 lol im right across the bay from st pete in riverview. definately know the area. yeah man you can get older motors for cheap as long as you know how to tinker with them. im running a restored 1957 johnson 35 tiller that i found on marketplace for 275. it was junk when i got it but i went through it and now it works like a charm

I read that it was 250 lbs somewhere online. Those where some awkward 250lbs to lift nowhere really to grab 🤣

One wrong slip and that lower unit will cut through your toes .. always wear proper clothes when attempting anything like this.
@HookinGears6 ай бұрын
Yea definetly don’t recommend doing it without proper footwear. Didn’t realize how awkward the weight on an outboard could be.

@@HookinGears I’m going with a buddy to look at a free boat with an aluminum i beam trailer and 70 Suzuki that my coworker is giving away for free. My buddy is taking the boat and trailer and I’m getting the motor. Hope it runs. Atleast I can sell it for parts if it doesn’t
