Psychologically, Sonny wants to eat Cocoa Puffs very much. He is, as he says constantly, "cuckoo" for them. His want, nay need, for them is tantamount to the plight of the drug addict. Notice you never see Sonny's friends or family. No doubt they were driven away by his cereal addiction. His only "friends" are the children who taunt him with cereal. Friends indeed!

I loved and miss the 80's so much! I remember waking up early to catch all my favorite shows. I used my imagination when I was bored. I was taught that drugs were bad and not to litter. My kids are constantly claiming to be "bored" if they are not sticking their noses in a smart phone or video game. They demand things instantly and they've never had to adjust an antenna to get a better picture! It's difficult to teach patience when everything is at the tip of our fingers.

I kind of remember when Atari revived the 2600 system in the late 1980's after its initial decline. I seem to recall that they abandoned the "classic" 2600 design, and the new units being produced at that time looked more modern and streamlined, like a smaller version of the Atari 5200.

It's funny because I was just idly searching for old toys online. I forgot that two of the dolls I owned were Wish World Kids (one named Shelby who came with a refrigerator/ice-cream parlor and Cassie who came with a radio/stage with musical equipment). It always bothered me that all the play pieces were the same color of bright orange.

I wonder what ever happened to Kenner? That was one of the big toymakers during my childhood in the 1970's and early 80's. Apparently they were still around in the late 1980's, because their name appears in one of these commercials, but you never hear that name anymore.
@80sCommercialVault4 жыл бұрын
Kenner was bought by Tonka in 1987, and then Tonka was bought by Hasbro in 1991. Hasbro permanently dissolved the Kenner brand in 2000.

The Cocoa Krispies ad is ART! You get that trippy animation AND rhymes like "chocolat/pop a lot." Aww, that's nice that He-Man and She-Ra donated a portion of the proceeds to local Science museums, even though it was probably a penny. Nosy Bears is literally a toy inside another toy. That's brilliant.Cheerios - So, you're telling me a 2 inch cartoon bee comes up to you wanting to talk, and you tell him, "Not now?" Wth, kid?I totally wanted Bubble Thing! Well, I'm sure that the kids from the '80's have no idea that there was even a person called Perry Como. If you don't know who he was, he was a crooner popular in the 1950's, had a television show, and his voice is sort of like the voice of that of the Sugar Crisp Bear.

A fair and valid point. Certainly parents are responsible for ensuring that TV doesn't become babysitter/programmer. Hey, TV's doing what it has to do...sell product. We are the final arbiter/filter. I wonder just how much of that $2.35 from the He-Man phone calls actually went to local science museums? I wonder if each state's attorney general's office sponsored the "Just Say No" ad in their own states, since I'm fairly certain that the California attorney general wasn't all that concerned about keeping Dallas/Fort Worth kids off drugs, and yet I saw that ad many, many, many times growing up.
