Love those old Vogue Interior Design Center commercials from the 1980s!

The Hi-C commercial tells all about the 80's in under 30 seconds.

I remember I came across a newspaper article from my high school from the 70s. And I mentioned that Ghostbusters would not come out until 8 years later. And a broadcasting teacher at a school in Georgia who is also a graduate of that school pointed out to me that a different Ghostbusters came out in 1975-1976

OK, the furniture commercial was nuts! Did you see that coffee table?? And the bed??? That bedroom set looked like a life-sized plastic Barbie set!! I have never in my life seen a weirder style of furniture than in that commercial. And the lady's veeeeery high-waisted suspender getup was also bizzarre!

WOW. Those spice jars are... amazing, and the commercial was horribly cheesy. Great find!

Captain Mitch Agruss had been on Sacramento TV since the early 60s, first as Captain Delta on KOVR, then on KTXL for many years, moving to KSCH in the late 80s. KOVR owned the Captain Delta name, so he couldn't take it with him. He died a few years ago in his 90s.

BTW, the LC and Jeopardy! promos on KRON were from the Fall of 1986 because Jim Lange's $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime was on at 4 PM before being pushed to 9:30 AM that fall. Also in that fall of '86, KRON's 4 logo looked more slanted then in the earlier promos as they incorporated the NBC logo beside it and would stay that way until 1988 when the 4 was changed to the one we know today with the red circle debuting in 1991-92.

In between the spice jar girl and the RC racer boy was the "Martial Arts Theater" slide. I feel like it's more of a suggestion what we should do to those two kids than a reminder of what we're watching.

I'm going to be posting two commercial volumes from KRON and a KRON newscast from 1988 soon. None of what you described is in there though...
@ptb267ii16 жыл бұрын
It was on from 1983 until 1989 on KRON and then it moved to KPIX for a year from 1989-1990 and in 1990, KTVU picked up the rights to Love Connection.

I was actually quoting the Scottish guy in the commercial. The all caps threw you off though. "Downtown Stockton, Ai!!!"

BTW, do you have any KRON stuff, especially those with the PDI Golden Gate Bridge Legal ID and/or DayBreak Sun logo which was used from 1984-1989?

ARRRGH!!! Why do they have to interrupt this volume with a stupid modern commercial? I'm watching this to see the REAL commercials. 0:04--That M & M's jingle is super catchy--and very "80's"! 0:35--It wasn't even a dream back then, but since 2007 my hometown (Waterloo, Iowa) has held the "Iowa Irish Fest" in August. It is now my favorite outdoor summer event. I wonder if they still do that Highland Fling in Stockton? 4:53--I remember the Merkur brand, but I don't think it lasted very long. They have now phased out the Mercury brand, too. 5:52--R.I.P. Alex Trebek. "Jeopardy" will have big shoes to fill. (I couldn't help noticing how much younger he looks here--LOL!)

I used to watch Filmations Ghostbusters and think to myself "what does this have to do with the Ghostbusters", come to find out there was a live action TV show in the 70s I think with Larry Storch from F-Troop

The description says Stockton, Alabama, but it's really Stockton, California. That's Weber's Point at the Water Front in Down Town Stockton, California. (Hometown.) Just pointing it out. ;)

Yeah, the same could be said with those champs that won at the time with the 5 game limit, this got tarnished with the Sky's The Limit rule. It truly is sad.

@southparkgtaca15 жыл бұрын
Damn! Now I feel stupid... Is that Ai, or AL? lol If it's Ai, then you were just putting in what the announcer said, and I feel stupid. But, it looks like the abbreviation for Alabama. (And yes, there is a Stockton Alabama.)

It's a terrible, terrible cartoon. Way scarier than "The Real Ghostbusters" ever was purely based on its own wretchedness. The TV rights to use the word "Ghostbusters" apparently still belonged to the people who made the live action show, and Filmation bought those up during production of the movie, forever subjecting children to this awful, awful cartoon.

I agree, the show was awful, and the theme song was just as bad "let's go ghostbusters, let's go", UGH!
