I watched Mickey’s Christmas Carol when it aired, and definitely remember some of these commercials. The sad snowman in particular. Definite blast from the past.

This is so fun to watch. This was my first Christmas season, I was 6 months old on December 20th. I love Mickey Christmas Carol, Disney, Christmas, and the 80s, so what could be better? I believe some of these commercials were on the Christmas tape that my parents recorded for me.

I used to rent Mickey's Christmas Carol multiple times a year, luckily my video store had a Beta copy as that is all we had till the late 80s probably not long after this aired. Thanks for the memories!

I had Oliver & Dodger ornaments! I wonder if my parents still have them, they were My favorite as a kid! And the Scrooge Honey Nut Cheerios commercial... they must have used that for a few years because I remember it very clearly.

Now that's my childhood! I made my parents go to Pizza Hutt to get The Land Before Time puppets when we always went to Godfathers, which my parents preferred. I ended up getting a Duckie puppet. Playskool's Definitely Dinosaurs was one of my favorite toy series. My parents bought me the entire lineup for that Christmas. The 'Ultrasaurus' at 6:36 was particularly impressive at two feet tall. Each toy came with a mini-comic book about that dinosaur.

Ah I remember these. I wasn’t able to get the Land Before Time puppets, but a couple years later I got a couple of the Eureka’s Castle ones from Pizza Hut.

I had a Spike puppet, I remember now that I've been reminded. It's probably long since sold in a garage sale, sadly.

I remember The Land Before Time and Oliver & Company were released on the same day, and a lot of people wondered which animated film was going to end up on top. Don Bluth's history and eventual split with Disney was very well known, and he was a hot ticket at the time after An American Tail a couple years ago became a box office hit. It was a pretty big deal having 2 big competing animated films coming out on the same day. In the end, Oliver wound up being the bigger box office draw, but Land Before Time had amazing video sales, which led to all those sequels. Oliver didn't even come out on video until the mid 90s or so. As a kid seeing both at the theater, I remember thinking Oliver was more fun, but Land being the more visually impressive of the 2 movies. I think Land also holds up better, especially the late James Horner's gorgeous music score for the film.

Oliver & Company was the first animated film to be developed with Eisner & Katzenberg in charge of Disney...and it shows. A voice cast dominated by celebrities with a bunch of pop songs for the soundtrack...which was a harbinger of things to come. I don't think it's a horrible film but it is ultimately forgettable and definitely pre-Renaissance. The Land Before Time is incredibly short and simple, but that score by James Horner hits all the right emotional notes.

Holy Cow, I think Ive got this exact recording from WCYB on VHS somewhere. Mickeys Christmas carol was and still is my favorite Christmas movie. If that tapes still in storage its definitely worn down pretty well.

Too bad Disney doesn't make anything modern with Roger Rabbit anymore - it was one of the first animation live action tie-ins.
