I have nearly the EXACT setup minus the mic and drums. MX61 up top, MODX6 on bottom, iPad Pro M1 and a M1 MacBook Air. I was watching this and just smiling 😎

I have both an MX88 and MX49. Like any keyboard on the market today, it has it's strong points and weak points. I used a Kurzweil PC2x. The MX88/49 have better piano sounds and a lot of the solo lead instruments ( flutes, sax, synths ) are better. The MX88 has a nice feel to the action for being as light weight as it is. The MX88 weighs about half of what the PC2X does, and is shorter, making it easier to transport. However, when it comes to strings, orchestra sounds, etc, the Kurzweil is still king. If using the MX series with head phones, i suggest that you use a head phone amp to increase the sound output. The headphone jack on the MX series has a weak output. I have to turn the master volume up full to get any dynamics, and that is still rather weak. For the music I play, there are very few of the drum selections that fit my needs..and a majority of them are really heavy with bass. Lot of techno and hip hop rhythms. I'm not too fond of the 128 preset performances that come with the MX series. However, I guess thy can be overwritten. Layering and splits on the keyboard are real easy.

The MX series are good as auxiliary keyboards. I might not be able to use it as my main ax. The Kurzweils are amazing too

@@elyamzon My first Kurzweil was a PC88, followed a couple of years later by a Kurzweil PC2X and a PC161. As I got older, the PC2x became harder for me to transport, so, I sold it and bought a MX88. The acoustic pianos on the MX are far better, as well are the solo instruments. As for the strings, the Kurzweil has the yamaha beat. JMO. The newer Kurzweils have very good acoustic pianos, and some of the electric pianos are really good, but for the rest I still prefer the older Kurzweils. I midi the PC161 to my MX88 and esentially have the best of both worlds. I was so impressed with a lot of the MX solo sounds, that i bought a MX49 to use for solos and also to get some nice full layers sounds when nidi with the MX88.

Thanks for visiting. I play in a Top 40 cover band and my instrument choices are the bread and butter. With that said, I haven’t really delved into all the patch list of the MODX. The instrument choices are similar for both but there are more to chose from the MODX. Another advantage of the MODX is that it’s easier to program patches. Whereas with MX49, I have to use John Melas’ patch editor. Overall, I am loving this setup ❤️
