I was a student at Northside High School from September 1977 to December 1979, but somehow I missed having Ms. Shaw as one of my teachers even though she'd been there since 1972. Now I see how badly I missed out. Frances Shaw and David Begnaud are *both* Louisiana treasures, and I am grateful to him, CBS and Canva for doing so much to recognize my alma mater and the most valuable woman in its faculty.

To watch this poignant special and to understand, learn, and love da history and present(s) of Northside High School + da love students, staff, and Alma maters have for Ms. Shaw, really really brought me to tears. So many tears and so many feelings. And what was even more beautiful and showed Ms. Shaw’s spirit was when NHS received a check as well and she started dancing. Da Northside of Lafayette and Northside High School deserves this and SO MUCH MORE. Equitable reinvestments are necessary for communities that have historically faced financial discrimination and unstable infrastructures. GOD BLESS MS. SHAW & NORTHSIDE HIGH IN ABUNDANCE.
