I love your 800 gallon wish I could have one just like that was wondering about the yeast .... besides the diatoms does it create any other problems like cyano or any other issues with dosing the yeast ...also for a 180 gallon reef what would be the dosage ????thanks

According to the packages he is holding up - it is Fleischmann's Rapid Rise Instant Yeast.

Because diatoms grow mostly from silicates and phosphates, does adding the yeast lower silicates and phosphates, therefore starving the diatoms or does the yeast only get rid of the appearance of diatoms?

I just upgraded to a 125 with some new rock and old live rock, all my fish and corals and inverts are in there now. params are perfect but all the new rock and sand are getting diatoms. Will the yeast have any adverse effects on any of the life or live rock? thanks for the videos!

We've experienced no side effects on fish or coral. It's practically magical on diatom, because it works so fast.

Skimmer will not freak out. Yes, put in high flow area. Quarter teaspoon per 400 gallons (math!) every other day for 6-8 days. You can gradually, VERY slowly increase dose of you don't notice improvement. Let us know if/when it works for you.
