The most important thing people miss here is that this would've never been a big deal if the progression system wasn't so out of wack. Artifacts are ridiculously slow to level without spending a ridiculous amount of money on them, that translates to hundreds of dollars or hundreds of hours of gameplay. literally everything else is faster to progress with, imagine if instead of this glitch you could've only maxed out your augs instead, it really wouldn't be a big deal because that progression is somewhat reasonably. Ultimately no one would've felt the need to use the glitch if arts were reasonable to level legitimately and that speaks volumes. Imagine being a casual player, people keep telling you that your arts are too low, you've played so much but you're making no progress and all of a sudden it's glitched and you finally see a path to actually being able to max out your arts. I didn't know of this glitch but I certainly would've used it since literally the most important part in becoming more powerful is pretty much behind a massive pay wall. Lastly, it's OK for not everything to progress at the same rate but difficulty, reward and progression speed need to match up, they don't. At the end of the episode it's always "well I guess I can do some feats for sp" while progress keeps on exponentially slowing down the further you go with artifacts. This is literally the basics in any progression based game (becoming stronger, in direct correlation with difficulty, effort, skill and time)

Who did the exploit hurt? It's a game that is mostly 95% co op content... It's not an unfair advantage and the type of people who did the exploits are the type to just make a new account and start over. I honestly don't see how anyone got harmed in this whole mess, in fact I can only see one issue with this and it's greed on DCUO's part. They make the artifacts and OP gear so fucking grindy to try and coerce you into putting money into the game. Them banning that many players when the game is F2P is moronic as they need players so badly. I bet you they will tweak things so that it all becomes more grindy to try and milk the players that are left until no one wants to play the game.

Exploits hurt everyone that plays the game. One reason why the game remains F2P is because the money generated by whales makes it so. Quick calculations tell me that if each of the 800 made off with a conservative 500 dollars of product, they took Daybreak for 400k. More likely, the revenue lost would be in the millions. That's money that could have been used to hire staff, better equipment, servers, advertising, etc. Moreover, a non-whale account outwhaling a whale account will cause some whales to put their money elsewhere, which is more lost revenue. Player base will suffer as these folks are likely to never return, which inevitably means more players will quit - broken system, banned folks were liked by others, innocents getting caught up in the mass banning, etc. So, yeah, it hurts everyone involved with Daybreak.

Sure that kind of kills the point of the game to me personally but I can't see how it affects me negatively in a co op setting. They stole millions of dollars in revenue from Daybreak, and the company likely pulled resources working on other projects to fix the issue,which took a week. That's a lot of lost productivity time and man hours, not to mention they're now forced to drop everything and figure out who else was in on the shenanigans. Factor in that they're probably also short staffed and this stuff is happening at a time people are on or gearing up to go on leave... Not even bringing up the clusterfsuk that is Warner Media, AT&T; stuff like this can't be helping.matters any. Player base gets negatively affected by the cheating. People complain about broken systems, which can scare off new blood, while others stop spending money or even quit playing. On top of that, 800 accounts disappearing is going to leave a hole in the game, with the promise of more to follow suit, and since it's a reasonable assumption that most of them are endgame players, the means less to go around doing elite stuff, and less available for queues. And still, more people getting bummed out SoandSo got banned over what they call BS and they just drop out after a while. In the end, Daybreak loses money, doesn't get much out in the way of content, player base suffers and more drop out or quit, which means Daybreak loses more money, and the cycle continues. All because of these pinhead and their lack of care about anyone other than themselves.

Saw the glitch on my alt first time I logged in after new game update. Got my augments from lex and proceeded to go to fortification to check em out and saw you can feed them anything. I didn’t do it because it was an alt I didn’t care. But I know there’s people that did it once to test it out. this game needs a player base. a good one, a few years ago they had to merge PS and PC servers to get more players. now they ban 800? i am not saying that what the players did was the right choice, but what the devs are doing is also wrong. deal with the players by applying an anti-exploit system. dont ban them. they probably spent a few bucks on this game. but at the end of the day, if you look at it from the point of view of the players that did the exploit, it just shows they were willing to do the exploit just to level up their arts so they wouldnt have to spend a lot of money, in other words, this game needs to be 70% gameplay rewards that can get you up there with advanced players, and 30% pay to level things up. it just shows the players are desperate to get SOMETHING so they would be up to bar with everyone else. plus if we wanna talk about problems, they should address speed hackers that are using the speed hacks in PVP. its just disgusting.

@@MosTForLife It is entirely possible to penalize players who glitched by resetting glitched artifacts and items, and giving suspensions to those who exploited many artifacts intentionally. But permanently banning over 800 people for a glitch that the devs alone are at complete fault for, (especially when they were warned many many times about this glitch on test and purposefully ignored test feedback, and chose to launch Episode 42 regardless in the poor state when it needed to be delayed) is a completely toxic over-exaggeration from the dev team and it isn't fair on any of the existing endgame players who will now all have to deal with core members of their leagues being gone - and that inspires no hope in the game's future. It is the dev team who need to own up for their mistake and take responsibility for their failure, take responsibility to ensure bugs like this never happen again and ensure that test feedback is taken seriously when it is reported. Because of the negligence of the dev team, Episode 42 has endured an array of bugs, including people losing catalysts from breakthroughs with seals, being unable to play content because their stats were heavily slashed and now an enormous xp glitch. This isn't acceptable and we can't keep putting up with this from the devs because it seems like this is a persistent issue with each new episode. Currently we have lost over 1000 active players, last epsiode there were only on average 3555 active daily players across both US and EU PS/PC server during peak times. This outcome is not sustainable and benefits nobody, hence why I will continue arguing that the devs handled this situation incredibly poorly.

@@MosTForLife It was wrong that players exploited the glitch the way they did, but there are also many reasons why so many can make valid arguments as to why they sought to circumvent the existing business model - it's an issue that has plagued dcuo since artifacts were first introduced to the game yet to no avail, all discussion and feedback for the devs has been unsuccessful, and so prior to this banwave, dcuo lost 2/3 of its overall player-base, dropping the active subscriber base to around 5000. This number has continued to diminish over the course of the last 3 years which has resulted in many large leagues needing to merge for survival. While this context may seem off point, dcuo's population is on a steady decline, which leaves the dev team dependent on more greedy, unscrupulous tactics to generate revenue for the game. I also think the devs are equally as in the wrong here because it was their choice, in spite of the feedback they got from test, to ignore warnings and release Episode 42 when it was not in an acceptable state, the devs must take full responsibility for their error here and cannot wholly blame this ordeal on those who exploited the xp glitch, when they should have done the right thing and delayed Episode 42 until it was ready, instead of launching it in an incredibly poor state with game braking issues. This artifact problem had already been reported several times to the devs on test server, weeks before launch of the dlc and the devs continued to ignore the testers, which I believe is an unacceptable lack of effort on the devs side to address this pre-launch and the devs have no excuses to defend themselves here, they owe the community a huge apology for this launch and banning almost a third of the current playerbase, is a dangerous misstep on their side that now harms the overall health and long term sustainability of the game, including having a massively detrimental impact on the revenue generated by dcuo - which in turn impacts on the budget. I think ultimately, while under normal circumstances I would argue that this has been unfair on those that did not glitch - which I agree - I think it also represents a lot of underlying resent the community has towards the current business model in the first place, as people are aware that there is no easy or consumer friendly way to attain max artefacts without waiting years worth of free xp and taking advantage of seasonal sales, which isn't feasible for the endgame community. I also think this whole situation is a reminder to the devs that they need to stop being negligent towards their game. If they continue with their current toxic attitude, then what's to stop issues like this from reoccurring again in Episode 43 or 44. Is there going to be more banwaves when more people get sick and fed up? How many players do these devs need to lose before they understand that they can't keep going on like this? It is the duty and responsibility of the devs to sort this mess out because they were the ones that caused it. A developer that doesn't take responsibility when they are at fault is massively undeserving of any respect or sympathy and everyone loses with this situation. There are currently now only approximately 2600 players actively playing dcuo, and this is at server peak - it is unclear how many more players will quit if on January 7th suspensions are converted to permabans. DCUO just went from being the 69th most played MMO in terms of daily logins and is now not even in the top 200. Its really hard to not feel completely demoralized with the future of dcuo given this information, which is why I cannot continue to support these devs financially or verbally, until they take a good hard look at this situation and reassess their actions - because the way they handled this is absolutely astonishing, and not in a good way. This is arguably one of the biggest fuck ups I have ever seen from any MMO, and it might just put my server on life support for the indefinite future. When you consider that only less than 10% of the playerbase completes endgame content, it puts into perspective just how much damage has been done by the devs. What matters more here is that the devs are equally as in the wrong, and 2 wrongs do not make a right, rather their decision has hurt everyone in EU server and players who didn't even do the glitch are now quitting the game because their friends/leagues are banned, some want to keep playing but have mixed feelings or less motivation now. What can I say in the defence of the devs here exactly. Oh well people shouldn't have done the glitch? If 800 people were able to do a glitch, it just shows how broken the launch of Episode 42 has been and if the devs won't entertain the idea of unbanning people in January, then I won't entertain the idea of continuing to waste time trying to compromise with them because I'm not a masochist. If the devs want to make this right, they cannot afford to squander this. They will be lucky if even half these banned players come back in the event that they are unbanned, and that population loss will haunt the game for the rest of the foreseeable future. You have no idea how triggering it is when you support these devs for an entire decade and they just constantly piss away any hope of their game being on track - for me I think this is the last straw with them and if I continue playing, this is the very last chance I am giving these devs.

@@danielmacleod7245 Graphics were actually updated for the PS4 a few years after release of the console I believe it got HD Textures but the PC version lagged behind and still doesn't have the same textures as consoles lol. We were banned and didn’t know of the glitch. We were upgrading the purple ray artifact for a healer toon we were going to stream with. Used mats purchased from the in game store. Still received a 21 day suspension and lost money. Had we known of any glitch we would not have even bothered. Playing for over 5 years without any issues. Spent over $1000 in real money in that time for cool packs like auras and encouraged some of our customers to play. This was a developer issue from our limited understanding. They won’t even offer an appeals process for those that unknowingly made this error (caused by the devs). Oh well. Time to find another game. We have been subbed to this KZbin channel because of the game. Your awesome content won’t be relevant with the banning of the good with the bad. Hope you will consider other games outside of Daybreak to expand your content. #RIPDCUO

They'll simply transfer old assets into the new engine then simply upscale everything and give older dated Designs a facelift. Maybe improve power and weapon animations or outright start from scratch on them. But a whole new game? No but I'm sure it'll feel like a new game. We're operating on a game engine that's over 15 years old now with unreal 5 slated to release in 2022 and the graphics update scheduled for around 2023 I don't doubt will be on 5 with some truly needed improvement

No doubt was the launch of this episode a complete disaster, and no doubt is the artifact system predatory as shit, and God knows could they have handled this bug better, but at the end of the day most of the people who exploited this bug were toxic stains on the community. @@fireclash7653 I said most people who abused it were *already* toxic beforehand, I'm talking about the people who had something to prove on shout chat, bickering about who's better at the game around old and new players alike, making the game a worse place for everyone but themselves. Makes sense they'd abuse a glitch that inflated their performance and I am glad a good chunk of those are gone. I doubt many innocents were caught in the crossfire, none of whom I know used the glitch, as it was a counterintuitive bug that in 99% of the cases you had to go out of your way to achieve, and could only know about it when hearing it from others. Usually leagues filled with the aforementioned type of player were the main offenders. My heart does go out to the normal people who fell for it, like I said the artifact system is hot garbage, but again the mass banning of the resident toxic sludge was a net positive for the quality of the community. Unfortunately many of those have returned with troll accounts spewing racial slurs and flaming random people on popular hubs, which only goes to show you what type of player got banned

If you didnt plug xp into where it didnt belong, you'll be fine. They can tell the cheaters pretty easy, when an art has over 2 million xp even though it caps a little under 1.7, then something fishy is going on. No one puts 300k+ extra nth metal in playing normally.

My artifacts got auto lvled up through breakthrough. 3 of them, in which they were ready to be upgraded to 140s. So maybe they thought i was cheating. 2. I'm pissed off because I spent alot of hard time & work, to get my character to the lvl he was. And my Beautiful base that I built for me & my friends to enjoy. And of course my money that I earned. And I spent countless amount of money on the game. 3. I understand that their trying to punish the players who did the glitch. But this is they fault too. And there are (innocent) people like me who are affected by this. If something like this happens again, we already have an suspension warning on our accounts from this one. So the next time that they do this, it will be a permanent ban. But i didn't do it the glitch. So this needs to be lifted off my account! 4. Their customer support isn't working from the website. So I'm going to have to resort to social media & the Xbox store game review.

It's like every new major update introduces a new major glitch/bug that people exploit and then get banned, I've seen this happen so many times before over the years. I still remember a huge one that had to do with the Throne Of Hades elite Raid, there was this one glitch that would let you bypass the first few bosses and go straight to the last one yet you'd still gain loot as if you had defeated the first few bosses, it was nuts.
