This is excellent news for new players since they'll never get the opportunity to do all the feats anyway. The chances of finding a raid/alert group that knows how to do feats is damn near impossible unless you're grandfathered into an OG league or something.

Thats one of the reasons why I stop playing when feats became attached to time capsules. I started noticing the guys with the most money we’re getting skill points and the gaps between players who didn’t have it in their skill points. I’ve never came back because of the massive difference in skill points between where I was an endgame players. But now that I know that it’s not that big of a deal and it’s all around artifacts, I might be enticed to come back and start playing again yes it’s not fair to those who have grind it out to get these feats. Honestly, DC should just get rid of skill points altogether.

ive said that skill points are for special roles i.e battle tank, buff troll, etc... Or dps comping (which i am not a fan of but to each their own). Sp's also help to use less armories. And your absolutely right about prec and health. Good video. New players needed to understand this.

1 thing i noticed is with the might and power stat if you have nothing in it you run out of power a lot more than if you have that stat maxed or close to maxed.

Interesting video. I had tried to start a character on another server. Looking at the amount of skill points now and how much people are requiring to run content with them now and the state of the game it's really hard on new players. With the stat squish and small community, getting into lower raids is easier, but actually getting feats from them is very difficult/nigh impossible unless you have a set group to run with...but good luck finding that. It would take months/years to catch up to end game players which puts a lot of players off. Making feats easier to get and more impactful would help the community as a whole, but at the moment, buying artefacts is one of the only option available to get close. :(

10% drop on damage is way too much when you are doing solo content or running with weak people, something that happens a lot on random alerts, i recently respected my characters because i bought loadouts so i can have pure dps and pure role, and the difference is abysmal, and i am the kind of player who gives sp to health dom and rest even on dps because i do tons of solo content and need to survive whitout any healer, so i can see the numbers, but in practice is a different story. To put it on perspective, My main does the higest damage but has heat vission on 140 and the other 2 arts on 120, my alt has all the arts on 80 buti bought replay badges to grab the sp points i farmed on my main and has about 20 to 30% less damage than my main. One thing i totally agree is that chasing SP only is stupid, a dude asked in the forums how many SP needed, and i told him that Stats are really the number to watch and that stats can be obtained by several sources, so on that i do agree with you, get the SP you can whitout being obsess with feats, and use the other sources, arts, augs, allys, to compensate, i mean that is the real meaning of a balanced character, something that use many sources in order to get the level, not just one.

Be cool if they made it so you only need like 200 sp to be max, but make special cosmetics for those who go over the 200sp cap that way ppl who have all those sp who worked for them can instantly get the cool gear/cosmetics and pol who want the cosmetics can work towards them

This is why amulet with berserk mod is so effective. My celes toon jumps 10k to 25k might. My atomic it jumps 10k to 35k might because of aura addition. The lower my health goes the higher the might and if I get that amulet stack bonus it's nutz.

I stopped playing when I realized how strong my fresh alt was with lvl 80 arts and 70 sp. mid game to end game (for me) was just grinding sp and the sp only matters when, example: both dps players have equal arts, and are racing for top dmg, (for me) when it got to that lvl of play, no content was too difficult and it was just being competitive…. So sp not worth the grind and I didn’t see the point of mid or late game

I have 475 with 3 lvl 160 arts even if it’s a 5% difference in damage we’re I’ll be at 76mil and the next dps be at 23 mil with with 200 arts in A alert still speaks volumes , might wanna get them skill points up my boi

My question is do 200 Artifacts really matter that much more than 160 Artifacts? Most arts seem to have the majority of their bonuses and function at 160 and are giving the bulk of their main percents and performance. Ranking them up to 200 only seems to increase their buffs slightly and seems like just the cherry on top. As far as gradual grinding or to get most bang for the buck wouldn’t it be most ideal to have several 160 arts and swap them for their effects as opposed to focusing on few 200 arts?

I see the issue, but people have spent real money on artifacts. If they can find a way to make skill points greater than or equal to artifacts without nerfing artifacts then it'll be great. Artifacts help new players who want to invest in the game and get to the current episode effectively. Though, they do cost money and a lot of money if that. It's a hard hole to dig out of honestly.

I don’t think the form of the test is accurate to reality, I mean you are only focusing on the might, but sp also gives power and health, and the biggest issue imo, you are testing on sparrings, where you get full power constantly, in a raid or alert you don’t get that power recharge, and if you can’t use powers you can’t do damage, same with health, a 10k/20k increase could save you (e.g it’s one more tick of lava dmg in NUe, that gives the healer time to save you)

power consumption is a moot point. You have White Gear mods, you have generator mods, you have cyborg allies, you even have energy soders plus alot of single target might rotations are channeled based anyways and hardly use any power. Why would you be standing in the lava in NUe to where you'd take damage? If players want to be dumb and intentionally take damage then 340sp in health isn't going to save them. What are you talking about you wouldn't get power regen in raids? are you not running raids with controllers?

For DPS the extra sp are just for prec for extra weapon tap damage (if you are might and vice versa for prec dps using might abilities) and health for survivability. Its more a luxury than anything. Support roles at least can take advantage of multiple skill trees. This game puts alot of feats behind time capsules etc where I would rather spend money leveling arts then worrying about spending money on TC's

I've grinded SP for the past decade and it's a horrible waste of time. My toons with little SP do great damage while the ones I grinded SP do only slightly better. They should just make gear the deciding factor and make arts/SP an insignificant factor for DPS and role play. Good MMOs don't rely on tedious grinds or borrowed power to keep.players playing. Just another reason for a DCUO2 without any of this nonsense.

This is very sad. This is the main reason why this game is dying. No one logs in anymore to grind for feats, ppl don’t need to spend money on capsule styles for their feat. There is no need for a subscription. Leagues are dyin because farming feats is no longer important. And unless youve spent months leveling them then you paid a lot of money ontop of the fact you have like a 5% chance to upgrade it if you don't spend 5$ to make it 100% so if you don't pay the 5$ you'll definitely not level that up and it'll probably take you a year or two to get a artifact the legit way. Sure I didn't say you couldn't play the game without money but I've been playing over 10+years I've become one of the people who always does the hard raids and feats it's what I like about the game but now I can't do them unless I want to spend money on the DLCs that come out every month now and replay everything.

@@devonnelson3929 I think most feel like they need to spend because the game isn’t enjoyable enough to entice people to log in for the ridiculous amount of time needed to get the resources to level arts for free. Because I definitely agree, the artifact system is disgusting. Leveling them for free is possible, but definitely a chore and can take a really long time if you haven’t already put years into the game and have the resources to speed up the process. But it doesn’t take long at all to get arts to 120, even without a double xp week. Ive had probably hundreds of successful zero wipe elite runs with healers and tanks that have sub 120 arts. Takes a bit longer for sure, but not so much that it was annoying. If nobody is being stupid and wiping the group then I’ll put up with lower damage lol

The sample size here is 5min of non-stop dps. That few million can also be made up using buff soders, trinket pet roation, ally rotation. There are plenty of factors that go into dpsing. This is to show skill points matters the least of that when you can simply buy arts/Allie’s/trinkets etc where you can’t just grind 500sp in a few weeks

great testing as always, and totally agree you only need about 170 for your role and you will be ok as all you really need is that 100 in primary for the 10% and the 60 for the crits, and you're good.. heck that's how most of us hybrid build, by throwing 100 in what ever other stats we need for that 10% and most of the time that's all the extra you need to make it more viable the state of the game is sad were those arts are so essential now. giving us alternate ways to play is nice but the fact that they are almost required now just bugs me

@@kfkcnonyohoe your biggest stat boost from SP is still going to come from getting at least 100 into resto and the 60 in healing crit and crit magnitude. you can be a little under geared as a healer and still do fairly well. but gear is the largest stat gain but with sp at least get to that 170 mark or 190 as its also helpful to dump 20 in dom for shields as 20 is the sweet spot of max gain for the least amount of SP

I already knew this. The devs made artifacts solely because the majority of their player base left after the discontinued support of the PS3 and the stats revamp. They say it's for giving us different play styles but that's all bullshit. It was a way for them to make profit and stay afloat after the massive amount of players going a-wall. I told them from jump that the revamp was a mistake and was going to make them lose a good portion of veteran players. They didn't listen and now look at it. You have people who only started playing the game after the revamp on the forums defending artifacts and allies thinking everything is fine and dandy but it's far from it. Fuck what this game has become! I'd take revamp era over what we have now any day.

That's not what dpsuo does. It matters far more for support roles. Artificats, augments and allies matter quite a bit as well.

I think sp for dps could matter more if they changed the crit chance and crit damage traits to further increase those stats. If players could push their crit chance to lets say 70% with 500-600ish sp or more or a dph build increasing their crit damage it would feel like the skill point you gained are more impactful to dps roles.

Man i havent played since 2017, whenever starro was originally launched, but tbh last raid i remember running when it was new day 1 was Unholy Matramony, played from late 2012 until whenever UM dropped because basically SP didnt matter back then, i left with like 320-370sp i think, i think 400-415 was max SP max then or 380 was, so would you honestly recommend coming back to DCUO?? Because just from this video SP only really matters for support roles, also i hear/read dps is now all about having things called artifacts.

Just yesterday I watched a conversation ingame about skill points and how important they are.. Crazy when the percentage difference based solely on points isn't really that great of a gap. Outside of special needs conditions and wanting to max out yours points, just to play and have fun!? Is fun apart of gaming anymore? My personal opionion: make the feat = active skill point and cr become passive skill point. So nobody could just over power or unde power and the weird level clamp cry babies causing newer player less disireable to play the game.

What is even good sp at this point I'm at 480ish and the increase isn't that crazy. Does prec get better with more sp?

yeah for tank SP is kinda CRITICAL to sucess hehe you get about 30-40% tankier, if not more. which matters because you cant heal a oneshot tank

Great video. Thank you. I will never spend another penny in this game. Beta player, quit in 2016, came back for a year subscription last year to see what’s new. been a way for a year, reinstalled a week ago for the hell of it and anniversary event access. Not particularly meaningful, but noticed that Chris Cao is at WOTC…. WOTC OGL news lately? 🤔🙃 all the acquisitions over the years… Why it was bought without seeing what the base of the game is made of, and how inherently unable to make it better… they still bought it to sell it while adding extra systems. Sad for anyone who doesn’t know it’s history. The game has become a bitcoin or NFT. 😏

I recently restarted as I was on PS and now on PC. My electricity DPS is keeping up, and sometimes out performing, other DPS that have more SP and even more points in their arts and augs. There's also a little bit of luck and reaction that goes into it. If you're not getting smoked by stuns and boxed, or you can breakout almost instantly and start your rotation up, then you can keep up with people a bit better than may not be as fast or paying attention as much. A lot of small factors can contribute to DPS.

yea I miss the time where the only thing that impacted your dps was your gear mods and some white mods lol. All these arts and allies have completely diluted the game and makes players choose between competing or not.

This also explains why I use to see some folks fighting when guy 1 has like 100 SP but max rank arts and guy 2 has 500sp and max arts but loses in damage to guy 1 because his rotation was just better 🤭🤭 interesting indeed.

for the amount of time it would take a player to go from 0-340sp or the amount of money it would take to buy time capsule styles, that 11% is not huge whatsoever

@@SpectralGloom the amount of time it would take you to get 200+ SP naturally, you would already have earned enough nth metal to level your artifacts high enough to nearly double the 11% you are concerned that is actually huge.

At what point should you start filling in another circle in the loadout? I thought I recall after a certain amount of skill points in a certain circle, diminishing returns began to happen...
