Fun fact: the 1uzfe is only 1 of 3 v8s made for mass production street use that is certified by the FAA for use in propeller aircraft. They have been recorded running for over 1 million miles without any major rebuilds. One reason for their legendary reliability is because their oil pressure is only 4psi at idle.
@SwapSupra4 жыл бұрын
Olivia Quezada can you explain why 4lbs is better than 6 or 8... or 3 ? i don’t get it why would low oil pressure be good? i am not trying to bash you this is a seriouse question haha
@R0cketRed3 жыл бұрын
@@SwapSupra lol low oil pressure isn't a good thing... not sure if they are ment to run that low but that's really low
@deven65182 жыл бұрын
@@R0cketRed low oil pressure usually means you're not getting enough oil. Depending on your lubrication system, say with bigger hoses and cans, maybe you bored out the oil holes in the block etc, you could move more oil at a lower pressure. Too high of an oil pressure can kill your engine equally as a low pressure. In diesels, it's a definite issue tho

MidShipCivic only reason for that was import regulations that effectively neutered imports. These little v8s will happily make 400hp n/a and stay reliable. I met the current owner at the end of SuperCar Week in Palm Beach a few years back and the previous owner when I was a tech at a Lexus dealership. I begged the previous owner to keep this car because his idea is something I wanted to see realized. I'm even more glad to see that current owner has taken the idea of the previous owner, with the single turbo setup, to this much more finely tuned and executed result. After working for Lexus for 9 yrs, I have an immense respect for the 90-94 1uz motors, and the Aussies have proven that this motor can take the abuse of making this kind of power. I glad to see this motor still under the hood and am taking notes for a reliable UZ build. Bravo on being different, now let's see 1K hp!
@seanmusa20016 жыл бұрын
The last person to own this car lied about it. It never made 550whp as I was told before taking the car. Not that it mattered bc my plan at 1st was to swap out the 1uz for a 2jz. It wasnt till I owned the car for a few days and went to a Lexus meet I decided to keep the 1uz. After seeing 60 SC at the event and all of them were 2jz i didnt want a " me too car". Also the turbo kit the last owner had was thrown togther over night using factory exhuast pipes lol.. It worked ...sorta. when I decided to keep the 1uz I also decided to make a new turbo kit. Im very happy with that decision.
@aera64136 жыл бұрын
@@seanmusa2001 yep you are definitely right. The turbo setup wasn't strong and a 500+hp out on a stock tranny when those start having issues around 400-450hp. Exactly what I remember. It's funny how he gave up this wonderful idea of a boosted 1uz just to be like everyone one else with a 2j IS. You got a good shop and sponsors behind you, whether you turn a wrench on it or not doesn't matter, you took the idea from "works somewhat" to viable and reliable. Keep it up. I've been watching you (palmbeachgt) and this car for inspiration along with a handful of other strong 1uz performance advocates.

All these rolls Royce ads showing how you can balance a penny on their engine, and I'm over here doing the same with my '92 uz sc. Such an incredibly smooth ride, but can really unleash its inner demons if you put your foot down, even with ~180k miles.

I have a video on my page where I balance a quarter on my manifold with the car idling.

The sound is incredible! With power numbers like this, I'm guessing it has aftermarket cams, right?

Hammerhaus Kennel nope. Factory heads minus the valve springs. Factory head ports, factory cams, factory manifolds , factoryTV, and factory exhuast manifolds.

A very interesting build. The SC300 uses a 2JZ I belive but a turbo SC400 is unheard of! Very nice!

Seen your sc videos. Gonna do a future swap on my sc400 with the r154 5-speed trans from the 300 and the rear diff. Sooooooo looking forward to the swap. Great car and great videos. You have taken sc400 ownership to a whole new level. Keep her goin!

The reason low oil pressure might be good on these engines means that it’s effortlessly oiling. Similar to the LME pro charged corvettes running 16 psi of boost and pushing 950 whp. All because they fabricate their own intercooler piping as big as possible. so 16 psi in a bigger pipe is flowing the same amount of air as a smaller pipe with more psi. The key here is less pressure anywhere means less heat to manage because anything that’s pressurized builds heat. And heat kills

Mid mount it! Use a v-drive, turbo 400 with a shift kit, irs from a subaru or maybe a cobra since that's stronger.. Front mount the cooling system(s?) In this way you balance weight and have a unique build...
