Modi | Know Your Audience (Full Comedy Special)

There are comedians who happen to be Jewish, and then there are Jewish comedians. In his debut special, Modi solidifies himself as the former; wielding his unique blend of observational comedy and hilarious insights to shine a light on an often-insular community in "Know Your Audience".
Having performed for Jewish organizations and causes all over the globe, Modi’s unique vantage point lends a birds-eye view of what it means to be Jewish in today’s day and age. It also allows him to weave a complex identity as both a proud Jew and a gay man - speaking for the first time on stage about his (much younger) husband and the perks of being married to a millennial.
Modi navigates niche subjects within the Jewish world without ever leaving non-Jewish viewers behind…explaining, among other things, why Jews have their own ambulance corps, unsurprising 23&Me results, and the prevalence of ‘hidden’ antisemitism.
Modi’s performance represents a modern interpretation of the Borscht-belt comedians who came before him. Drawing inspiration from Jackie Mason and Alan King, Modi’s larger-than-life stage presence sends a clear message: be true to your audience and the rest will follow.

This had me in stitches , did a hard ab workout yesterday and laughing this much made it so sore. Growing up in an ashkenaz Community, with Israeli parents, and close circle of Sephardic friends, I have to say modi is SPOT ON with everything. The jokes, the nuances the facial expressions everything was on points. Please don’t ever stop making comedy. Laughing like this is truly therapeutic.

I told a cousin of mine now on the West Coast after I found and enjoyed Mod's Video so much, to look for this Video. As it turned out Modi and my cousin's son went to school together in N.Y. and were friends. Small world, I am from N.Y., wound up in the goyim south, and found Modi by messing around on the computer, I grew up with his style of humor when we had great comedians. He gave me some good Laughs something hard to find these days, I can relate to Modi and his humor.

I am Askkenazi and every word Modi said is absolutely true! EXCEPT my Daddy, z”l. Quick story. When I moved to Miami, I got a job at a shul./Temple. When I got home, I told my Orthodox dad. he asked me who is the Rabbi? I told him. His eyes lit up and he said OH! he is an amazing Rabbi! And he was/is. Best Rabbi ever!

I listened to this entire stand up and laughed all throughout it. I recently found out my folks are of Jewish decent (Sephardic). When he asked about where the Sephardic Jews were in the audience, I shouted "wooooo" immediately, and then heard those who are also Sephardic in the audience do the same, and his comment about the woo made me howl because I did it instinctively. I come from a loud family, and I go to a shul where they daven Ashkenaz, its interesting because when we get to melodies that are lively, I am the one keeping a rhythm on my siddur, and folks randomly look around. When they see its me, they smile, and try to join in, but its like they can't....they go all stiff. Wooooooo!!!!!
