I bought my wife a model 3 a few years ago. We both liked it so much that we sold our last gas car this year and bought a model Y for me. I installed two wall chargers in our car port and we both just plug in when we get home. The cars are always full the next morning. I'm never going to buy $5 gas again. Except for my airplane! The airplane is still gas, but it's around $7 per gallon. Lol.

Awesome reviews Mark. I had a thought regarding not being able to haul your trailer up to the cabin and home again with the F150. I wonder if you could use an Anker F3800 as a 'ferry tank' and either pre-charge and haul it with, or have it based at the cabin (if the cabin is not off the grid.) I'm no engineer so I have absolutely no idea if it would provide the needed range, but it's where my brain went when you mentioned that issue. Cheers!

What do you want improved on besides range? The standard F150 frame does not have maximum space between frame rails. This will change on gen-2 so more batteries can be squeezed in.

Just keep in mind that stacking anything in the bed above the lower barrier will be very dangerous in a wreck. I don't think I would stack very many sheets of anything that can slide into the back of the front seats or the back of your head. Hey Mark 👋 the new GMC electric pickup is advertised at 440 miles and real-world has been 450-460 miles not towing. The torque steer thing on the GMC is probably due to the 50/50 torque split. If they do a update on it and change the split to 45/55 that should fix the torque steer.

Wow, I'm not even remotely in the market for a truck but I still enjoyed watching this. It seems like GM got a lot right with that Sierra Denali. I love the ability to put full 4x8 sheet goods into the bed. One question about the Lightning and the towing range: what prevents you from charging the Lightning up at the cabin? It seems like that would get you the range you need to get back.

Thanks Mark. I have long needed an new/electric vehicle, and made a deposit on the CyberTruck, and almost decided on the Ford instead, but then GM came out with the G.O.A.T. EV truck. Ford Dealers were marking up the Lightning, Tesla did NOT deliver on the specs or the price and the aluminum body was a drawback for reliability....Then GM knocked one out of the park! Still beyond my means sadly, but one day....

The looks are bad from the front, the headlights are ugly too and the badge on the side. They could of just made it look like the gas f150's, which look much better in my opinion, but they didn't and don't think for a second they don't know what people like. That's why I don't think they really want us buying them yet. They are likely battling between trying to please regulators and present themselves as a green company to the world while also trying to milk more profits out of the "long ago paid for" R and D of the classic gas f150 with the ecoboost or the 5.0. Maybe they get pressure from oil companies as well, who knows. Also, the price and currently non existent domestic supply of lithium might be playing a factor. (all my personal opinion and theory)

@paulhamann933611 күн бұрын
If you park the car at an airport for 10 days during the winter your car will be dead when you return because the batteries have to be heated. You lose battery range by 10 percent every day because the batteries have to be heated.
@801pilot11 күн бұрын
I haven’t seen that with my Teslas or the ford. Some loss but never that much. I’ll keep an eye on the GMC this winter.
@P-J-W-77712 күн бұрын
Just ask the fire departments and owners on the East coast about those EV’s and big Battery power supplies. It was all over the news about all the fires the Fire Department was responding to when they could have been helping people instead. The cost for an EV is just stupid and when you get the less expensive version you are basically getting a really ugly design that has less features than a work truck. The other thing is the subscription services that come with EV’s. You now have to pay for option through a subscription. Rather than buy 2 different vehicles I’ll stick to a gas and a diesel that is capable of doing everything. I get 24-26 mpg in my deleted diesel and haven’t had to touch my engine since deleting it. I can also drive about 945 miles on a single fuel up with my small extended fuel tank too. Which means if I’m not driving on road trips I don’t have to visit the gas station but once a month.
@hansadler671612 күн бұрын
You should know by now that nothing in the main stream media is true. The same with this issue. The truth is that gas cars have about 50 times the rate of fires as in EVs. This is real data from the insurance industry. Don't believe anything the main stream media says.
