Nice presentation. Thanks for showing a few of the attachments. I've used that wedge (jaws) many times for shifting boat engines on the beds for horizontal engine alignment.... makes real easy work! Thank you.

Excellent job on getting the old gal back in service. I have had one for about 25 years myself. I've use it for a ton of things you would even think a PP would do. level houses etc. The clam shell is really handy. It's great as a third hand when tightening belts and as a wedge to move a motor a little to get a mount to line up etc. keep up the good work.

Thank for the demonstration. I bought a brand new 10 ton and when I got it, it was broken. The company refunded me and told me to keep it. Now, I will try to fix it because it is brand new.

I used to have a similar unit that was made by Greenlee. The thing was a monster that would do whatever you asked of it. We used it for bending larger electrical conduit and we had an attachment for punching holes in electrical panels. Made short work of anything we threw at it.

where did ya order the parts? - I have one that leaks. I like the Duck bill attachment for squeezing deck boards together before screwing down a deck, just screw a sacrificial spare scrap of lumber to the joists, slip the duck bill in and a couple pumps - no gaps. Once the pressure treated sits in the sun, they always shrink up and leave a nice even gap. I just have to make sure mine is on some cardboard since it has leaked for what seams like ever

Great Job at fixing the pump. Out of curiosity do you have a website link to those blue seals and the name of them buddy.? I need to repair my own pump here in the UK but finding bits here is a joke. Manufacturers of the pumps don't want to know once they are a few years old.

Considering how cutting edge that porta power was in the mid seventies I can understand you paying $1200 for it! ...And you could buy a really good used car for that kinda money back then! I have two full porta power sets (and a couple of spare hydraulic hand pumps), I didn't NEED two sets, but the last one I bought was barely used at a yard sale; the guy had it for sale for $60 and I just couldn't pass it up for that price!

my 4 ton astro will pump ok for a few strokes but will then start losing it's advance on each upstroke of the handle (this can be overridden by pumping very fast but is almost like treading water). It is full of fluid and has no leaks, I've tried bleeding it several times, but what could be a possible cause for this?

Good tutorial thanks! One thing if I can ask. The rams on these things seem to be single acting (one one port in), do you have any idea how it is double acting (pump it it goes out, release the pressure it goes in)? Somehow with one port you get double acting ...otherwise it would be like a bottle jack.
@805ROADKING7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bud!! This porta-power has a heavy spring to return the piston!! Most bottle jacks just use gravity or manual pressure to return the piston!!☺

They dont look like vee pack seals....just normal poly u ring seals....the vee pack fit inside each other and when squashed you have like 5 tight sealing edges.....i bet that works at like 8 to 10000 psi not sure the poly u rings will stand up to that pressure. Have to see i guess when you use it in anger. Cheers.
