This sounded brilliant back in the early 90s. Still sounds brilliant. Hasn't dated one bit to my mind. What strikes me about 808 State compared to a lot of stuff that came after is the lightness of touch. The groove makes you want to dance without massive pounding kicks or heavily compressed/distorted sounds. It's more about a hypnotic shifting flow, syncopated rhythms and synth lines that seem to weave around everything.

I do like the sound that 808 State and different to everyone else that was mainstream well who got that far. I like that with electronics who have the ability to sound different to everyone else.
