Let put in the time that Sour Candy was released when Gaga wanted to release a Best and Rare tracks around 90s, as a returnment for the successful 80s era. I want to believe that Applause was the first single of the 80s Gaga era, but I dunno, there are many hidden Gaga anthems that I can't remember. PD: that post is a joke to keep the vibe, but hey... In a 1993 MTV documentary, Gaga stated the whole reason of writing this song in 1986 was to get Madonna's attention. Gaga had a huge crush on Madonna. A huge crush ! However Madonna was dating a man at the time and was busy touring Europe. Later in 1988, Madonna said yes to Gaga and they started going out. They were seen eating in restaurants and walking out in downtown Hollywood. Later Gaga dumped Madonna in 1988 when she saw her talking secretly to Michael Jackson late one night. Gaga last words to her was please beat it...
