He’s the one of the reasons why I became a Raider fan. I’m very honored that we have a great owner like Al Davis. He’s the only person EVER to involved football in every positions: scout, assistant coach, head coach, general manager, commissioner, owner. I tell you what, when the Dallas Cowboys are the “America’s Team” then the Las Vegas Raiders are the “World’s Team” and that’s the reason why I became a Raider fan.

Iam 57 years old and have been a Raider fan since I was about 7 years old and I have had many family members and good friends pass away including both my parents . I shed tears for all my lived ones in my life but Al Davis was the only person I never knew who when he passed I cried because he was everything I remember about my football team . A complicated man but a visionary who stood up for what he believed in. The Raiders were running a prototype 21st century passing offense in the early 70's because that's what he believed in. It's sad that the last ten years or so of his ownership he kind of lost the plot and people started making fun of the 'Just Win Baby' stuff when the team was terrible but people in his position tend to hang on longer than they should have.

I have hopped fences as a kid, at Oakland and LA for autographs, then led busses of Raider fans that would pay for a ride, beers, and food to Coliseum for $ to get tickets at 50 ydl. I met Al Davis and Al Locaselle at Bar off of Hagenberger in Oak Town. They bought me a drink and let me try on Superbowl ring. Real people don't forget about real people!! Tom Flores, Art Shell skin tone never mattered to them. Winning attitude did!!

i have been a raiders fan since day one in 1960. i was born in oakland and raised in oakland, and i still live in oakland. everyone that knows me and cares for me knows i love the raiders and always will, no matter where they play. the year now is 2023 and the raiders have been struggling for quite some time now, and from time to time someone will come up to me because they know i know about this team and will ask the question WHATS WRONG WITH THE RAIDERS. this is simply what i say. A Raiders fan since 1960. That’s awesome. I became a Raiders fan around 1970. I remember seeing George Blanda and I definitely remember watching the Raiders vs Steelers “immaculate reception” game and vividly remember the “sea of hands” game. I grew up far away from the bay, but the Raiders were so good that NBC showed Raider’s games every Sunday afternoon. It’s was always Cowboys at noon on CBS, Raiders at 3pm on NBC. As a kid seeing the silver and black, the way they played, being from Oakland California, it was an instant attraction. My favorite players growing up were Fred Biletnikoff and Jack Tatum. I tried to be like Biletnikoff in his school as a WR.

I loved the first 10 mins of the interview which he talked about society and though over 30 years ago he could be talking about today. The importance of values, tradition and history in relationship to the development of the youth in owing a debt to those of the past. The rise of individualism, perception and money.
