Nothing better then going to the movie theater to watch a movie, and then missing the whole movie because I wanted to play Donkey Kong in the lobby. Then going to the Arcade afterwards. I miss the 80's.

Nothing will ever Compare to being in an arcade in 1992 when Street Fighter 2 champion edition released. Large crowd around the cabinet and placing your quarter on the edge of the screen to get the next fight.

I remember playing *Kung Fu Master* with my friend and we loved it. When my local Ice Cream shop had this newly released *Double Dragon* and we could both play at the same time we thought it was the best game ever! We never got very far as we were poor kids and also would end up kicking each other more than the actual enemies... Good times 😊😂

as a teen in the 80's, my town had a chuck e cheese that would turn into a 16-20 year old club once a month on a saturday night. the entire upstairs were video games and downstairs was turned to a dancefloor with dj. it was one admission price and all you eat pizza and video game play from 6pm to 11pm. nothing like a teen in the 80s playing video games, eating pizza and when taking a break from playing games going downstairs to breakdance and poplock. it's kind of cool that retro games are getting back in style. i'm personally trying to find the right retro gaming system for home ... one of those boxes that play 10,000+ games all from atari, colecovision, to super nes.

My childhood arcade was in my super, super tiny town and was called Pizza Arcade. Many of the dining tables were cocktail cabinets and in the back there was a much bigger arcade area. Right next to it was a gas station that also had a couple of cabinets in it (and they usually tried to have different ones that the actual arcade had), so it was a good time there.

Awesome video! My favorite arcades growing up in the Valley in the ‘80s & ‘90s included: 1) Pool hall on Roscoe and DeSoto 2) Topanga mall arcade 3) Northridge mall arcade 4) Malibu Grand Prix in Northridge 5) Malibu castle on Sepúlveda Sherman Oaks. 6) 7-11 on Vanowen and DeSoto My all time favorite game was Super Sprint race car game. I’ve only found it at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York and at Full Tilt in Seattle.

If you ever make it up to the Chicago area, there's an arcade in Brookfield, IL called Galloping Ghost Arcade. Its currently the largest arcade in the country in terms of the quantity of games. They're currently at at least 900 games, mostly all vintage. Its a flat rate to get in and you can come and go as much as you want throughout the day. Its very easy to spend an entire day in there.

Wow, so much to comment! Yeah... the Fun Factory in Redondo Beach was sort of my stomping grounds while growing up. I just didn't care for the place much. Always stunk because of the nearby fish markets.😆🤦‍♂️ I just heard that it finally shut down recently (before I saw your video). I spent A LOT of time at an arcade in Hermosa Beach (don't remember the name if life depended on it and I'm pretty sure it's been long gone because the area has been completely revamped). It use to be on PCH between Aviation Blvd and the main street where the King Harbor sign is located. Anyway..... Some of my favorite games were Gorf, Tron, Afterburner, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fight, Double Dragon, Ikari Warriors, and Contra. There was another game that was like Dragon's Lair (hated that game) called Cobra Command where you piloted a helicopter like Blue Thunder, go on missions and blow stuff up. I agree with you in picking the latter arcade. It's my vibe as opposed to the bar scene, although, haven't been to true arcade in decades! Thanks, for the video, dude!👍

Thanks for showing about "Family Arcade" ! That's on Vermont Ave.! I used to go there back in 1982! I remember they used to play Devo, Talking Heads and other New Wave music on the speakers! You forgot to mention the arcade "Rock City" it was on Hollywood Blvd and Western Ave. In front of the Adult Book Stores and Burger stand! It's not there anymore, it closed down awhile ago, its now a furniture store. The management will tell you to leave if it was during school hours! They would tell you to go back to school or call the police on you! My fave games were: Missile Command, Berzerk and Monaco GP.

Wow. You are so lucky to have access to that. Arcades were SUCH a part of my life in the 80's, and I sure would like to take a trip down memory lane playing all those classics. It cost me a fortune to memorize the moves, but I ended up getting all the way through Dragon's Lair on a single 50 cents (it was never a 25 cent game in any of the arcades I saw it in).

My family ran an arcade for three years in our small town in the mid nineties. We had to close it because eventually it became a haven for the trashy kids to vandalize and harass paying customers, but also (and more importantly) because video game manufacturers would release a game to amusement companies and arcades and then release the same game to consumers on the home video gaming platforms three to six months later. We were the last of a string of arcades that spanned twenty years in that town.

My mother had a store right across the street from Neon Retro Arcade when I was growing up before Pasadena kicked out all the locally owned businesses and remodeled the buildings to create Old Pasadena. I think where Neon Retro Arcade is (or the neighboring place), there was a place called the Hot Dog Building Company where you put all the toppings you want on the hot dog and then paid by the weight. My favorite arcade was on Colorado Blvd at Allen where I spent way too much time instead of studying when I was going to Pasadena City College which was just a few blocks away.

My favorite arcade experience was at Round Table Pizza in the 80’s and early 90’s. It was a very small somewhat closed off section of the restaurant and there was only about 5 games at any given time, but they always had the best games. It was a dark, dingy restaurant with awesome pizza. We’d order pizza, play games until the pizza was ready, eat and then play more games after.

I was lucky enough to play and take some pictures with my oldest daughter at the Redondo Beach pier playing MoonWalker and TMNT Arcade game... When i lived in Toluca Lake, me and my buddies would go to Family Fun Arcade to play Battle Gear the drifting game on Thursdays when there were Import Car meets in the parking lot before I moved to Lawndale.... Dave N Busters wasnt the same at Del Amo... My absolute favorite arcades growing up was the Arcade at 32 Village near USC campus... And The arcade on Broadway and 7th.... Now THAT arcade still had every single old school game ever made... Including N.A.R.C., ROBOCOP, And Virtua Fighter.... Another dope arcade was at the SHATTO 39 lanes bowling alley in Koreatown that I used to go to before the 92 Riots happened and we moved to The Valley to start our new life in NoHo/ Toluca Lake....

This is why I miss going to the mall. As a kid, my mom and grandmother would go shopping, and they would hand me $10 (yes, $10 for video games) and tell me to meet them in the food court in an hour. If that arcade is still around, I would go check it out, much larger than family fun.

Your Videos are amazing. I am a Movie Fan since I was a Kid And I found almost every Movie in your Location Videos. So I ask you, are you going to do a Filming Location Video about one of my Fav New Jack City from 1990? I think this Classic has a huge Fanbase. Your Channel is amazing, greetings from Germany

Awesome video. The arcade punchout! Game you played is completely different from Mike Tysons Punchout! On NES. Some of the characters in the arcade game you played weren't even in Mike Tysons Punchout and didn't make a console appearance until Super Punchout came out for SNES. Btw, Wasn't a character named Pizza Pasta?

Man, I lived at the Family Arcade in the 90's! I used to ride my bike there with my friends from Koreatown. All you needed is like 5-10 bucks and you were good to go for a couple of hours of fun. There was also a more grown up, sleazy arcade next to that one that is no longer there. Had some X rated games in the back. Lol

My arcade growing up was Supercade on Sherman Way. They have a ton of my quarters. I mostly played Pacman and Frogger. I loved to kick my bf's butt at pinball. Supercade was also the source of my classmates ditching (private) school .I recently cleaned out a junk drawer and found a bunch of tokens for an arcade located at the old GM plant. I might have to visit the arcade soon.

Businesses either make money off games or drinks. Gotta keep the arcade screens on 🎉

Yes Kurt I agree Donkey Kong is more difficult than later Mario Bros games. Position was critical in DK. Just slightly too close and you die. DK was the first arcade game I ever played and it took me forever to clear the first screen. Discovered I was much better at Centipede (just shoot everything lol) :-)
