I was diagnosed with EDS in 1958 and I've always said that my feet have hurt since the first time I stood up on them. I've always had (thank you Steve Martin) nothing but cruel shoes. Pilates saved me and you are so right about core strength for posture.

What about heel pain?? Is that related to hypermobility?? How to treat heel pain??

I would suspect that heel pain would be more common with joint hypermobility since pain is so highly prevalent. Did we not specifically cover heel pain? I would imagine there can be lots of causes. Maybe also check out this episode: www.bendybodiespodcast.com/73-understanding-lower-extremity-pain-with-pradeep-chopra-md/

What about plantar plate tear? Does it have any prevalence in the EDS community? I had one that healed badly resulting in an unstable toe which now causes me great pain. I'm trying to avoid surgery, especially because it will involve a tourniquet, but I fear it is in my future...

I am so sorry that happened to you as that is a bad injury. I do not know any statistics but since connective tissue anywhere in the body may be weak, it would not surprise me at all if plantar plate tears were more common with connective tissue disorders. What concerns you about the tourniquet?

I've been reading that because of the fragility of our vessels we should avoid tourniquets if possible. I don't have vascular EDS but I do bruise easily, I'm an "oozer", and when I had a craniotomy years ago, they were unable to get an arterial line in me. They tried 10 times(I could see the holes in my arms) and I ended up with purple bruising up past my elbows on both arms! I guess I'm just trying to avoid any complications....

@@JenniferResta-q7q have you considered getting platelet rich plasma? I’ve had it on my right foot twice over 4 years. It’s good to splint your toes when you address the plantar plate so that it gives it time to heal.
