Good luck with the new bike! I look forward to the next episodes. My CT110 is a 1984. They only sold these from 1980-86 in the states. Beginning in 1981 they all have the High/Low gear box. Beginning in 1982 (I believe) they went over to CDI/electronic ignition in the states, and they changed the carb to have the larger bowl at that time. So my 1984 has both CDI and the H/L gearbox (and it now has an original carb with the large bowl.) It also has the same Speedo/Odo set up as yours. (Whereas the Postie bikes moved the speedo up higher so you could have a front rack and not block the speedo, and the CT90 also has a trip meter.) Finally, all of the CT110s in the US were sold street legal, and I ride mine around town regularly. I find I use the H/L gear box on my CT90, but the 110 has enough power/torque that I don't really use it. But, it is nice to have (especially off-road when riding with a partner on the CT90 if it is in low gear.) The CT110 in low gear can climb anything. Anything. Again, good luck and I look forward to seeing the adventure of getting it back on the road.

Thanks, it's incredible the following these bikes have. The ag version was sold virtually unchanged other than cdi until the 2000's I believe, not sure exact year. Looking forward to testing it up some steep climbs.

As a USA rider, this is interesting to learn more about AG bikes sold in Australia. 1982-newer USA models are fitted with CDI and a 4 wire, full wave rectifier under the frame tube, behind the triple tree. Engine looks same as a USA 1981 model with 2-wire rectifier and points ignition. Similar indicators have been spotted on DAX (CT70) and Z50 models, and likely have 15mm sockets with small glass globes. Amazing it has a plate and could pass rego. Good luck getting it running well and sorted!
@Free_Ranger_CT110Ай бұрын
Thanks Jon, they continued to be sold for many years & as you said switched to CDI but kept the 6 volt system. The ex Postal bikes didn't have hi/lo & were gradually modified to suit Oz Post's requirements. Not many hi/lo bikes on the road here. Appreciate the info on indicators, they look original but I thought by this year they'd switched to square ones.

Jon I've since realised it's a 1981 bike, it's on the compliance plate plain as day. Don't know why I thought it was '82, changed the error where possible.

That looks a decent find. Best of luck with that rattle! I used to own a much newer AG model and it had been delivered new with two side stands but no centre stand.
@Free_Ranger_CT110Ай бұрын
Thanks Mike, I thought it strange no centre stand, I didn't know some were sold like that.

Fun find, looks like it's in nice restorable shape! I got lucky a few years back here in Canada and found an 83 110 (CDI version) in a local basement, encrusted in 30+ years of dust and grime, but when I washed it it emerged as an almost factory-fresh bike, no rust, clean original red paint, and all parts intact. After I cleaned the jelly out of the engine and put in fresh oil etc it started on the 2nd kick, still have it in the country and rode it 2 days ago! Your signal lights are not like mine, yours look possibly aftermarket (edit: apparently not) unless they have different versions down under, and your seat is not original either (looks more comfortable!). The only problem I'm having with mine is the bloody 6v battery lasts a season at best then starts blowing all the lightbulbs when it loses its "voltage regulator" functionality, I currently only have a functioning N lamp. Bulbs are expensive and hard to find here, have to go to USA, I'd love to find an alternative to those crappy factory Yuasa-type batteries. Cheers and looking forward to the next video :)

Hi mate, I thought I'd replied to your comment but my reply seems to have vanished, so here's another try. You picked up a good find there, not many low miles /good condition bikes here. I tried an agm battery on my '85 ct110 (cdi) it fried two batteries real quick. I'm enjoying working on this bike, I guess cos it's a little different to the usual postie bikes here in Oz. Thanks for watching & commenting.

@@Free_Ranger_CT110 thanks for the reply...I'm surprised there aren't really any solutions for the battery problem. It's approaching winter up here so everything's buttoned up for the next 6 months, but I guess I'll get another batch of Yuasas next summer. The problem is even they are getting hard to find and expensive, and you can't store spares on the shelf as they too will quickly go bad. Frustrating!

@@alphasportstv I lost patience with the 6v electrics on my '85 ct110, I converted it to 12v using parts from a later model ex Oz post bike.

I have the same bike. Mine is an 81 ag model. Same indicators and colour is tahitian red. Check the date on the steering head. I have converted the points to cdi. Soon as I put it back together will send some photos. Cheers Bruce Longhurst. ORANGE NSW

Thanks Bruce, yes it is a '81, for some reason I said it's an 82. I've corrected the mistake where possible. My 1985 bike is tahitian red but is ex Aus post & no hi/lo. I'd never seen those indicators on a ct110 before, I'm glad it's complete & stock. Spoiler alert, the engine is now out of it!
