Nowadays I like to relax a moment (~3-5 seconds) after packing at the surface before making my duckdive. Just like Guilliaume Nery does. The idea is to relax the upper body and throat a bit after the packing. On the way down I can only loose 'relaxation' so my goal is to gather relaxation at the top and carry it deep down with me. As for the kick while one fully stretches the arms, I'm not sure that would be helpful to most because his kick in particular is exceptionally wide and efficient, where most people's are narrower and shorter lasting, with less propulsion. On the way up I like to have a continuous kick, avoiding loosing speed in between strokes, which is key. For me the best parts of Dean's technique are equalisation and his leg strokes. I think Dean could win in the area of arm recovery (bringing the arms from the down position back up) by keeping his elbows closer to his sides. Another area would be to pull in the shoulders a bit to make oneself more streamlined during the freefall. Thanks for the review!

I am just rookie in freediving, so excuse me for the question... I suppose Dean has closed eyes all the time and the noseclip is used for being able to equalize without hand usage... Is that so?

You are right! The nose clip helps you to EQ without hands and yes, you can keep your eyes closed almost for the entire dive (though I prefer to keep it slightly open on my way up)

Hello, I really like your videos! Anyway, while I try static dry breath hold, I can handle only like 80 seconds. I do not experience contractions, but I have strong urge to breath. Could you tell me how to overcome it?

Hi! Thank you! Urge to breath = contractions (involuntary movement of respiratory muscles). Anyway, in my opinion, the best exercise for beginner freedivers (and not only for the beginners) is "no contraction table" kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJnVkpRner1nhc0

@@KAIZENFREEDIVING Thank you, but now another question came up to my mind. Do contractions physically hurt, or they are just unpleasant. Also, is it normal that I feel like I inhale through my nose when I really do not?
