There are no "mental" disorders anymore. It is all being tied to the gut microbiome. Fecal transplants have cured a couple of people of anorexia already. It is the bacteria in the gut that sends signals to the brain to eat various foods, so it can grow. After a certain point, the signals become so strong that it becomes an addiction. They think the bacteria and brain communicate via the vagus nerve. Fecal transplans have also cured people of obesity. this is very new.

For 30 Years I was an Amtrak Station Supervisor and Service Manager. Morbidly obese people frequently travel by train. The majority of the ones I've had to handle are way too heavy to use special equipment for disabled passengers. Unable to bathe properly, if at all, many of them languish in demanding, rude, and unsanitary entitlement. The ADA forces compliance and mandates this as a "disability" while disregarding the danger this poses as most can't fit on people movers or in extra wide wheelchairs. They can't step up one step to get into the train and they're too heavy for even the wheelchair lift to handle. They can't fit on the accessible restroom toilet, saturate their seats or beds with human waste. I've seen two cases where they couldn't get to the entry door to get off, so EMS had to remove them from an emergency window exit onto a gurney. Public tolerance of this is rapidly fading away. No compassion left.

This young man was constantly upset with me that I couldn’t help him by myself. I weigh 118 lbs & was not willing to injure myself. Getting enough staff together was difficult, especially with a full ED & waiting room. He eventually had to be transported to another location by ambulance. Many years ago, I worked with a morbidly obese person. Our office was on the 5th floor. One day we had a fire drill and you have to use the one staircase to get down if you don't walk all the way to the other end of the building. She had a log jam of people a mile long behind her. She took one step at a time at a snail's pace. She was so wide no one could get around her. Even the landings were no help, as they were very small and not meant for a person the size of three people. Later, I overhead the managers talking and one said, "If there's a real fire she'll have to go last. A lot of people could die if they couldn't get out." I wish those "fat acceptance influencers" would wake up and realize it's not all about them. On a plane, public transport, a building, they are a danger to themselves and others. The whole "healthy at any size movement " is ridiculous and needs to go away. I have a family, too. If I'm stuck in a stairwell during a fire, you're going on the floor and I'm climbing over. 90% of the people in this country would do the same, so don't accuse me of being a hater. They were built back in the days when people didn't generally reach more than 250 pounds, and that was a rarity, usually among men, not young women. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink with extremely obese… I work in nursing homes. We have people, three for 500 pounds and their diets are still the same. They have the right to refuse a healthy meal plan and then family and friends bring in all sorts of food and they have chips and they have crackers and they have cookies and they have candies in the room they’re allowed to do it because it’s not a prison… And medical insurance qualifies for a special facility that would accommodate to somebody over five 600 pounds plus it’s sad but it’s the reality. @LadyLithias3 ай бұрын
"force" .... the problem is that weight is not a simple equation, no matter how many people want to make it that simple. It's not just calories in calories out. It's how well metabolic processes work, water retention, inflammation, genetics, quality of available food, and the added issues of structural inability to deal with the physical load. When I had gastric bypass there were many folks who thought of that as "cheating".... is it cheating if you choose a method that works? It's not like this is a competition. It's a solitary game where one is working to better oneself. The only cheating in that situation would be to rig the scale to give a wrong number. folks might not look at me and see a success. But I was near 400 lbs, got down to 154 lbs (and looked like a walking skeleton) and now I weigh the right amount for the person I am. I've kept more than 40% of my body weight off for 16 years. (Success is measured as losing 50% of desired weight loss, and keeping it off for five years. I wanted to lose 150 lbs, and have kept more than 100% of desired weight loss for 16 years, I'm a success, even though I'm still considered obese). When you take complex issues and force them through a simple lens, you miss the nuances and simplistic solutions seem okay, but aren't. Few folks really get this. Take an array of Americans. You've got three guys, underweight, perfect weight, and overweight, and a similar array of women. You could easily find six individuals who fit this criteria who all (A) consume the expected daily calories for someone of their demographic situation, (B) excercise and have the same proportionate caloric usage daily, and (C) do NOT have identical results. When I was younger, I was misinformed by the societal and cultural norms, taught some things that were abjectly wrong, and was deeply deeply frustrated when my results were disastrous, no matter how much I followed the "rules" as I understood them. I do hope this woman is provided the necessary care to limit her caloric intake to a specific level, and given the support to begin to use more of those calories on a graduating basis. She's young enough to achieve a better future. But the reality is that every body is different, and she may not be a candidate for a happily ever after. I can still remember the person who was almost my identical statistics. Docs decided in her case that she needed a specific surgery before getting weight loss surgery, and that was the end of her fight, as she didn't live through the initial recovery. Before taking the step, she was told that she might not make it ten more years. Had she accepted ten years, well, she'd have gotten ten years more than she recieved.

Nope. They dont have enough staff to care for someone that size. And the Medicaid in my state has a bariatrics rate but I don't know about all states. The special machine she would need to transfer is custom and costs ridiculous amounts. And it's likely if one is available, it would need shipped from another state. There was a man back in the 1930s who reached the astronomical weight of over 1,200 pounds. His was a glitch in his body somewhere, not something he did to himself. He expired at the age of 27, but it was multi system organ failure, not his heart bursting. But if it takes telling my son "no" versus watching him die a slow, painful death, making funeral arrangements for him and having to look at him in a casket...guess who will say "no" and stick to their word to save their baby. What she NEEDS is not a home health aid. She needs to lose weight, and a lot of it. And a mother who says "no" instead of finding her daughter dead. It's called enabling and behind every person with an addiction issue is an enabler to allow them to keep living the life they have. @@tracysue1176

I hope this lady gets help soon. They should not pay property management another penny since they dont want her to return. She might want to seek an attorney for discrimination.
@misfitbrit19892 ай бұрын
Who's discriminating? The landlord even offered to let her have a first level apartment but none were available. Tell me, would YOU feel safe living underneath her? Eventually, in the area she lives in, the floor will begin to give way via the joists. One hit and miss on the toilet and there will be water running to adjacent and lower apartments. GOD FORBID, that there actually was a fire - would you want to be stuck behind her trying to get down the stairs?! The elevators don't operate doing a fire so the only way out is the stairwell. Would you wanna be one of the people calling the loved one of tenant explaining how they didn't make it out because they were stuck behind her? How would you feel if you got that call because one of your loved ones was stuck behind her? There's far too much liability. I hope she gets on the right track soon too but think of the issues here. Frankly, she did this to herself and other people shouldn't have to suffer the consequences for it. Might seem harsh what the landlord had to do but they dont have much choice either. It was offer a spot or evict her.

Did anyone watch the movie " What's eating Gilbert Grape?" The mother was so heavy and she decided one day to try and climb the stairs to sleep in her bed , instead of the couch, one night and it killed her, she died peacefully in her sleep! And her teen kids didn't know how anyone would get her out of there, the kids were thinking all kinds of crazy ways that first responders would have to do so , using a crane for example, and the kids were horrified of the thought! The house was old and rickety, they decided to set the house on fire! Was a sad movie! Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio starred in it!

I'm not defending the young woman, but please understand something: the human skeleton is meant to hold only so much weight per person, with it being strong enough to carry around 200 poumds more without serious issues. A person who weighs 825 pounds does not have the capacity to get up at all, and their leg bones would snap into many pieces if they did manage to get up. On top of that, her muscles are very weak from not being used for so long, so she's between a rock and a hard place. Her mother CAN'T "make her get up"!

Hardly any people actually bought fresh vegetables and fruits or meat to be cooked with a meal. I was on food stamps for a short time in college. The last month i had them i bought a live lobster and a steak along with vegetables and feasted like a king.

There was a huge lady with morbidly obese kids (the youngest was 8) who was on Dr Phil several years ago. She was a food stamp recipient. When asked why she didn't feed the kids and herself fruits and veggies, she whined that they were "too expensive" compared to processed stuff. Which is true, the stores perimeter is always more expensive because it's wholesome food. What she failed/fails to realize is SNAP isn't there to cover all your groceries, it's to cover a majority of the cost but not everything for the month. Add to the fact that she got a lot in benefits, she could've afforded much better food. I miss the days when I had them while on short term disability from work for 12 weeks. It was far easier to afford nurturing foods than it is without them and especially right now. @@sussybaca7256

@@SuperBluejewels If it were only that simple. As you judge this woman, I pray that you never find yourself in the throws of any kind of an addiction. Aside from addiction, there could also be issues with her physical or mental health that play a role in her weight gain, not to mention that so much of the food today is so processed many of the nutrients are lost, and so many different foods are pumped with sugars, sodium, preservatives, etc. The truth is, her weight gain is largely her fault, but we all make mistakes, and you judging her so harshley is not helping her. I drive uber and lyft sometimes from the airport and recently I had to deny 2 passenger a ride due to one of the passengers being over 300lbs. I drove up to the rideshare pickup area and one of the lady's was standing waiting there, I get out the car and ask if she needs the trunk, she says no then I asked her to get in from the other side door then she points at this HUGE lady saying she'll get in from that side. I immediately get back in my honda accord and say sorry no way can I do this trip. The lady starts saying o you can't do it why not? I say I just can't and all while the HUGE LADY is opening the door to get in the other side. I tell her shut the door I can't do this trip I gotta go! I took off so fast and canceled it. I swear this lady was over 300lbs and it could have been this lady's mother from this KZbin video 😅. @@Oh_look_Jesus_Christexcept body positivity has a limit. If your a woman standing 5.5 and you weigh 350lbs thats not good. If you have a little muffin top and you enjoy eating a bag of chips once every 2 weeks theres nothing at all wrong with that. But lets be honest here, the people who go to body positivity movements and are extremely vocal about it are 100% not healthy. And this will be the result for a solid portion of the people who claim they cannot be called fat and ive even seen things like wanting doctors to not call them obese or tell them they have to lose weight. Positivity and equality movements are great until they get taken over by extrmeists who use the movements solely for their benefit and to avoid taking accountability.
