It’s nice to know someone’s enjoying the journey with me. It’s a lot of work, time & money, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Even if in the moment it sucks, that will pass and you’ll be left looking at what you’ve done and how far we’ve come. It’s worth it, thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Looking great. Couple of mm squiffy windows is nothing and possibly some of the neatest I have seen. Thats what the window liners are for. Almost time for the fun part in creating rooms.

😀 thanks for the assurance, never done this before so I’m not really sure what I’m doing… you can read every golf book on the planet, but what do you really know until you’ve swung the club?… but thanks 👍

Wesley windows make porthole trims in fiberglass. They can supply them in different wood effects or you can paint them. Much cheaper than wood and they will never rot.

Oh Oli, I could kick myself. I went to the Crick boat show this year and on the Saturday I drove right past the entrance to your boatyard and wondered whether you'd be there, clearly you were, but didn't pop in. At least I didn't disturb you and you are doing so well, it looks amazing, well done. Best wishes Christine x

Did you travel far? What did you think of the show? You’re always welcome to come take a look around the boat, get a feel for her, talk over any ideas or questions you have, could even end up in a video lol. Thank you for the comments, it’s taking a while… and a small fortune, but ever step is a step ahead 👍

@@olivellanarrowboat4319 Hello Oli, I came up from Kent, about three and a half hours in the car. I enjoyed the show, seeing all the boats and some of the vloggers but obviously a few of the stands were of no interest to a non-boater, such as engines, toilets etc. I spent the Saturday at Foxton Locks then the su day at the show, home again on the Monday. I would have loved to have met you and seen the boat, but next time I am in the area I promise I will call in. C x

Great to see the update. Are you going to go for exposed wood veneer decor or paint? An alternative likely much cheaper window liner construction is laminated layers of marine ply and wood turned to fit and finished with preferred visible veneer including decorative inlays such as annular detailing rings. Look into commissioning a wood turner to make some if not turn to finish traditional segmented solid wood builds.

Thanks for following the progress 👍 tbh I’ve not given much though to decor yet, more fiction over form for me. I love the dark wood and varnish of old boats, but I’ve got 12x 15 inch port holes with a 15% tint (the guy I bought the boat from got these) so there’s not much light in the boat when the hatches are closed, so I’m going for more of a lighter interior with dark detailing, but that’s really as for as I’ve thought about it… any ideas?

As for the liners, I’ve been made aware that are available to buy around the country, eBay, Facebook and others seem to have many available. Some that I’ve seen seem pretty standard, some have incredible inlays and curves. But knowing they’re out the has allowed me to slot that away in the finishing box in my head

Hi, please can you tell me what the telescopic stands you using to hold boards in place?
@olivellanarrowboat4319
@olivellanarrowboat4319 Жыл бұрын
They’re called acrow props. I got them from a guy at the wharf who’d finished with them, but I think he said he got them from screwfix, or maybe toolstation

Hi I live near Lutterworth and I intend to do just what you are doing, could you tell me the charges for the hard standing at Kilworth, thanks
@olivellanarrowboat4319
@olivellanarrowboat4319 Жыл бұрын
They charge by the ft, I can’t remember the specifics, it’s something like 65p per ft per week or something. At 57ft I’m paying £407.55 before tax. With vat and minimal electric use I’m paying just over £500 a quarter (£503.37 total for the 1/1/24 - 31/3/24 period)
