This broom swept me away with it's ageless charm. What's particularly nice about this yacht is someone else has not had their way with her. Too often in the used boat market, there's that one guy, the owner which has taken it upon themselves to tackle the updates and mod.'s. The result being a boat that was a a classic vintage 1980's giving you an impression it's original build was in the 60's, and that it was ravished sometime in the 70's by a blind man in his 90's..

What an amazing combination of 80s styles in the interior. Floral upholstery, gold hardware and nicely turned woodwork right next to a retro-futuristic and almost synthwavey helm with period state-of-the-art tech like that chart plotter.

This Broom's layout is astonishing and space saving. I guess other manufacturer's designers were sweeping under a rock. The weed/rope cutters near the propeller is a brilliant idea, never heard of them before. Love the spiral staircase and the double helm positions. That aft cabin is huge! As always, Thank you for the tour, Mr. Nick.

About 15 years ago, I was looking at 40 foot Carver aft cabin boats and it's amazing how much room that design gives you. Àlas...the aft cabin lost the space war to the bathing platform over time

Just stumbled on this tour. Very much appreciated. The super yachts are great, but it's great to see boats closer to our price range. Your knowledge is encyclopedic, which adds to the quality of your commentary, Nick. Your total lack of pretension puts you that much further ahead of the others trying to do what you do. Thanks!

I really like this boat. You're right, a load of space at 40', there are so many comfortable places to go. The variety of boats you showcase is why I so appreciate you - the balance between the Cote d'Azur and out-of-the-way places like this is fascinating. Thanks so much.

For a 32 year old boat that is very good. Interesting to see how the tender was held. Strange spiral staircase entrance. Louvred door cabinets are very 80’s. Cabins aren’t bad. The green sink is very dated. No Miele in the galley. Funny seeing old cathode ray portable tv and VCR 😊. Totally original equipment. Love the radio handset 🤣 Aft cabin is good. Decent boat ! Thanks Nick 😊

Alright, that's a boat someone can live on to be honest ... turn that lower lounge area into a home office the forward v-berth into some additional storage. Cheaper than a house or even an appartment. Imagine restyling/ modernizing the interior, modern atmospheric lighting, etc. Basically, instead of buying a 140k apartment, get this and refurbish/ restyle it for the difference. You'd still be cheaper off.

I can imagine that some people are enchanted with the vintage look, but personally I can very much notice how modern layouts and architecture have improved in the 30 years that have passed since this boat was built. Primarily, not having eye-level windows in the main cabin looks like living in the basement floor of a house. (Which is not an advantage) Thanks for the video, Nick! Excellent as always! 🤗

Deep joy 🌟 As a child spending many weeks at Bell boats Brundall.... running errands for Arthur Bell, anti fowling the hulls of the hire fleet, sailing and occasionally creeping onto the new Moonrakers and Aquabells being built and tested. The yards were next door to Brooms..... some of the hulls were shared amongst the builders for hire craft, like the Broom Ocean 30, AKA the first Moonraker... I digress 🙂 Dated, yes.... but I don’t think you can beat the layout and accommodation on these aft cabin, flybridge boats..... One day...... if I live long enough....🙂🇬🇧

I love it! Amazing amount of space. It's obvious, with all of its originality, this boat has been well loved and cared for its entire life. Most boats of this type and age are a stained and mildewed mess inside and rusted everywhere unpainted steel appears outside. Fascinating 35 year old state of the art electronics. I noticed the tuner/amplifier on top of the 'fridge in the galley complete with a foot long analog tuning window and a big knob you spin to get your favorite FM station! Just fantastic and a huge return for a first boat owner willing to pony up $100,000...diesel engines with less than 600 hours on them included. Thanks Nick...great walkthrough choice.

A quick search on the old internet has revealed a few of these for sale in the 80k-90k range, including one up in Norfolk complete with the arch and interestingly powered by a couple of 212hp Ford Sabres. They only made them for a short time (1986-1991) but they're not uncommon on the Thames at least and Broom was always considered a solid boat builder. I would imagine a lot of them will still be around in another 10 years - so £85k is not bad for all that space and useability..... if you can live with the woodwork ;-) Love the old CRT TV and VCR, bet they still work.
