I was a Chicagoan at the time. I remember reading in the Trib or Sports Illustrated that the Bears drafted Dent at a much lighter weight. When they got him to Chicago, they realized that he wasn't eating enough because he had all kind of dental problems. They may have gone so far as to get most or all of his mouth implanted with new teeth. The guy put on tens of pounds and became unstoppable. I remember seeing him on Clark Street north of where I lived. The guy was as big as a house.

What was so fantastic about the 85 bears was that during the playoffs they blanked the Giants & Rams on the way to the SB......No team has ever done that before or after to this day......The mentality of the Bears defense was that if the other team doesn't score a point then they can't beat us which means we automatically go to the SB.

Madden and P Summeral brings me back to the good ole days when real sports commentators could make the game more fun , just by there knowledge of the game. Unlike now with big mouths that know nothing and are in this buisness just for money. The good ole days are gone forever. All the women thinking they are good at there jobs have made watching sporting events so unprofessional and just the new world we live in today.

Ditka sucked. I watched the Bears a lot from '86 onward - Ditka would often call a running play on 3rd and long, and that sort of thing. It was maddening. He also always wanted to be in the limelight, and disliked it when any player got more media attention than he did. During Walter Payton's last game, he scored twice in the first half. Ditka practically benched him after that, barely letting him carry the ball at all, and the Bears lost. That's Mike Ditka, and that's why the 86-90 Bears never even went to another Super Bowl.

As good as this defense was the 2000 Ravens only allowed 167 points in 20 games, postseason included. Outside of Payton, Singletary, & Dent the 85 Bears were a bunch of f’ups that had everything fall into place for 1 year.
