Two of the greatest players of all time. The epitome of class and professionalism. Today’s young players could learn a thing or to from both of these icons. Thank you for the memories guys.

Those 2 are the jerseys on my wall. The NHL was never better than in the 80s. I think both are incredible role models.

That story about Dave Hodge’s son and Gretz giving his stick to him makes Gretzky Rank right up there with The great Bobby Orr as far as being a class act. That’s exactly what Bobby would have done. It’s things like this that really sets Wayne and Mark apart from other superstars. Just that little extra gratitude they show their fans. Not only are they great athletes they are incredible human beings, great role models for young people to look up to.

Rangers fan here. The only acceptable jersey other than a rangers is an oilers. So much love for these 2 guys glad hockey was graced with them and glad both oilers and rangers fans were lucky enough to see them wear our homes colors. Jari should have been there too shame he wasn't

I’m a blood and ice Avs fan. And the 2001 Avalanche team is one of the best. Not biased but by just sheer performance. And other teams. The devils in the 2000s and the stars. Buffalo just because of Hassek. And lots more. But to this day, the 84-85 Oilers is the greatest hockey team of all time. Period. Yes the Russians were a machine. Sure other NHL teams can also be ranked like the Islanders through the 70s and 80s. But Fuhr, Gretzky, Kuri, and Messier is the best lineup of all time. Respect 🙏

I love how people today like to say that Gretzky and the Oilers wouldn't be as good if they played today, whenever I hear that I just look at them and say......You do realize you can make two line passes today, right?

It's time for the Edmonton Oilers to start pushing the Hockey Hall Of Fame voters to put Kevin Lowe and Andy Moog in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Why Gretzky and Messier? It should be Kurri and Gretzky at this point when we are talking 85 Oilers.
@Losrandir4 жыл бұрын
Well yeah, considering that 84-85 was the year Kurri did 71+64=135 in the regular (while missing 9 games) and in the playoffs 19+12+31 - most playoff goals EVER together with Reggie Leach. But what the hey, Mark is a better spokesperson and I'm sure Jari doesn't mind.

Kurri in my mind was the most underrated player in the 1980s. The talk was all about Gretzky and Messier. Fair, but Kurri was in the same category as Gretz and Moose.

That's so true !! Kurri deserves better after all he did !!!

Conn Smythe trophy in 1984 is a huge reason why there was an 85 championship as well.

That may have been their best team. They were never really challenged in the playoffs, and the team they eat in the finals, the Flyers, were a very good defensive team. But the Oilers destroyed them after losing Game 1.
