I have TN42 XHP35. And I find no reason to replace it with the successor TN42 V2. The new model puts out much more lumen but throws just a bit further. And it has a large stepdown at turbo after only some minute, while the older provides almost stable output for more than one hour. V2 is bulkier and heavier as well. Thrunite TN42 XHP35 still rocks: it throws better for extended period than the successor!

great review! I had 85W HID before and really dissapointed with the throws. The bulbs takes a minute to reach maximum brightness and dead soon. Maybe less than one hour of run time. Next time I will pick LED thrower.

Comparing the TN42 or K70, is the one that's known to have better reliability or quality to them? Or are they both about the same in regards to longevity and quality control?

My 35 watt HID out throws your 85 watt by a large margin, though it uses a 12 volt battery and the reflector is twice the size and no adjustable focus. Most adjustable focus lights are horrible.

I hope you can answer this soon, I just received my Thrunite TN42, I put the batteries in, negative side on the spring coil, it's not working, my main question is, do I have to charge the batteries first, or are they already charged? Really disappointed
@scannerguy1968
@scannerguy1968 7 жыл бұрын
Did you get the rechargeable? I would charge the batteries 1st. If it still doesn't work you could have a dead battery. Test each one in a different light. If a battery is dead or something wrong with it you will never see the green light on a charger while charging

It turns out that the led bulbs are more brighter than 85 watt torch ?! how do you think about lemax lx 70 superpower and wicked lasers torch ,it says the lemax cast the light 4500 m but i doubt about it ,it is halogen bulb ,how do you think ?:)besides that wicked lasers torch is a bit dangerous
@scannerguy1968
@scannerguy1968 5 жыл бұрын
Just looked up the lemax. That thing is a beast and am sure with that size head it will punch further. As far as wicked laser lights. I think the head is way too small to do much for throw. Same problem with this 85 watt i used.

These no name 85 watt hid lights are massively overrated in the lumens department. Their real output is more in the 3 to 4 thousand range. If you want a good hid get a henlin 3570

HID is far from dead. In high power applications there are no theoretical limits on how powerful an HID light source can be. Xenon/halide lamps range anywhere from 10W to 18kW and xenon lamps go as far as 24kW. With LED's however you'd quickly run into problems such as cooling the thing. The lighting fixture would be absolutely gigantic both by size and weight.

As far as handheld flashlights go, current led technology has hid beat hands down... in terms of weight, output, instant power up, durability, and variety of power sources. However, hid still maintains advantages in other applications such as area lighting.
@raydornbush
@raydornbush 4 жыл бұрын
@@hoxhaloo HID Flashlight's, spot lights, searchlights or anything else can still very much hold there own with LED weather it be in a handheld application or even a high powered application like you mentioned... I agree. I'm pretty excited to see where the Light Excited Phosphor technology, or whatever you want to call it, is going though for sure.
