850i v12 project - Chasing ignition issues - Dead cylinder bank

After going through the ignition system on the car's engine a dead crank position sensor was found to be the culprit.
Once the car was running again two new exciting issue popped up. One was the brakes applying themselves once the engine bay got hot. The other was the accelerator pedal bushings failing.
Both of these issues were since fixed and will be covered in an upcoming video.

been trying the stomp test but have'nt had any luck. key position 1 or is it 3 until all dash light come on? then hit the accelerator peddle to the kick down button/ floor 5 and 6 times?

I've been having the same problem with the 850i i'm restoring. My CPS's are new, so I didn't think that there's a possibility of one of those being defective. I will test mine and let you know how it goes.

Nope. All Crank Positon Sensors good... I have all new wires, plugs, coils... all NGK and all correct part numbers to make the car go. I haven't installed new fuel injectors yet. I'm still waiting to resolve this particular issue first before installing those. All new fuel pumps and filters, all tested. I don't know what the hell is causing this problem at this point. I've done the same thing.. taken the plugs off of bank 1 fuel injectors with no change, but bank 2 you notice it immediately.

I had every problem you had on ur 8 except for tje sticking brake,which my friend had,i have a new problem..the car wont start,no crank no clicks,the electronic display shows a "E" where normally is diplayed P for park

Sounds stupid, but make sure the car is in park. If it is, the gear position sensor is probably out of wack or bad

What's a quick rundown on the procedure to properly test the crank sensor. I am chasing similar issues and wanted to try that next

Check the resistance between 2 of the pins on the cps (don't remember which) on this engine it should be about 550 ohms +/- 10%

@@BrabusTKR did you have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to the sensor part down bottom or were you able to get it out

@@TheOnyx823 the bottom one required removing the pulley from the power steering pump and moving the pump to the side. I also removed the fan for clearance
