Thanks for posting about rescuing one of these magnificent V12 super sedans - the king of luxury sedans in the 1980's! My Dad had the first one here in our town in 87: granite grey on grey 88 750iL when I was 8 years old. I think you will really appreciate this car once you have it sorted - the short front overhang and forward front seat placement give the impression of a much smaller car when driving it, and the 296hp V12 is more than adequate for triple digit sprints on der Autobahn! My old man used to dust off L98 Corvettes on the highway regularly with the 750, as well as other more notable sports cars of the day. Sadly, that car is long gone and so is he, but I am contemplating buying one that I know of local to me after watching your video!
@SwissMarksman
@SwissMarksman 3 жыл бұрын
My father didn't had the 750 but the 735 manual. I even have a picture from when went to the dealer to buy an E38 with the E32 infront. Sadly I wasn't old enough to drive that car, but I had the opportunitie with the E38. But I remember when my (back then) neighbour got his driving license, he asked my father if he can take that car for a joyride. He was the oldest of the clique back then & we hopped in. Many years later, he became my Driving instructor & whenever I point that story from that particular day out, he get's embarassed (because of all that bullshit he did on that day). I really like the semi-agressive timeless look of that car. Sadly there aren't many around with low mileage & alltough there is one right now, I have other priorities.

Excellent as usual professor …I’ve owned 3 of these well used 12 cyl beasts over the years, they can be very inexpensive to purchase and honestly not much more expensive to maintain than other large German cars. A few quirks: eg leaking intake manifold seals, two sets of some engine components. Very reliable engine with fewer problems than some 740s. Easy parts availability! BOTTOM LINE …HUGE TORQUE …HUGE SMILE

People say new BMWs are complicated. Well, have a look at the engine bay of this classic one, great job with the work mate. Thumbs up.

Consider subscribing? And you’re asking a guy who was 18 years old when this car was released by BMW. This is even better than watching the Games of Thrones.

Love your work. I could literally watch you repair BMWs for hours. It gives me the encouragement to rebuild an early model 3 series convertible or possibly one with a folding tin top. While we love our BMWs here in Australia, there are not many trashed examples that you can buy cheap and then do what you do - especially convertibles. Can’t wait for the next episode, Lloyd.

I know the "I can edit this out and make it seem like I know what I'm doing" is a joke, but the fact you show it anyway does three things: you can make a joke about the silliness of it and we all laugh about it, you show the good the bad and the ugly about these kinds of projects, and it shows that sometimes (or oftentimes) the simplest possible solution is the solution. Great video!

“The good thing is we have converted A/C, that means is likely going to work”. In my experience that means is likely not going to work since all the R134 leaked out of the system because of the lack of use and the fact that old hoses allow refrigerant to escape. A/C in pre-1994 cars sucks if you don’t have access to R12.

Love to see you fixing those old (and newer) beasts and bring them up to life again by removing all the crap that was done (and not done) to them. Another well-spent 48 mts of my life to bring a bit of healing to this sick-seeming world while finding the right words for what you are finding - even when you have to beep them. ;) Please don't think about changing your video's style by speeding anything up. Good job!
