I am a 70's baby, my parents were born in 1936 and 1940 respectively. My mother used to play the blues all day long when I was a child, my dad played his jazz, be-bop, and funk. My oldest sister was into the Philadelphia soul sound, classic R&B, My middle sister played disco and punk, my youngest sister listend to anything and everything Motown. Me, well hip-hop first came along I was in my pre teen years, on my 11th Birthday, I got two turntables, and a dj mixer. I would have all of the original samples of all the songs from all of the great music I was exposed to throughout my childhood years. I remember looking through my moms and dads records to find this song, after hearing Big Daddy Kane sample this in the mid 1980s. Currently my mom is in the beginning stages of Dementia. The one thing I can do to lift her spirits is play these old songs on my bluetooth....she comes alive again😃. She especially LOVES the Blues....and oh Al Green, she said ole AL kept her and my dad together during their rough patch, saying how my dad would always sing "Still in Love with you" lol. This songs brings back great memories for me

It’s been a little over a year that this now 51 year old brother has been learning to play the guitar 🎸. As I pick a song of the moment to learn which I was familiar with as it was sampled by Big Daddy Kane and EPMD, not only has this been what I’ve been learning as of late, but this man’s whole style is just smooth soul stirred in blues with a sprinkle of jazz and dash of funk and I can’t get enough of it. “Christone “Kingfish” Ingram takes it to another even another level with his versions but still. This is the man right here. Much respect to his gift and style. ✊🏾

This is to everyone that is playing guitar. Remember almost all hard rock and heavy metal is based on the blues. I've been playing guitar for 40 years. I first learned blues then hard rock and heavy metal. When I write my own songs I use all blues chords and scales to create my rhythms and leads. And I add a lot of distortion it sounds amazing. The blues are awesome!
@trailryder58136 ай бұрын
I first learned to play classical piano which turned to playing keyboards in various garage bands back in the mid to late 80s where I transitioned to rock and blues or boogie woogie piano. Eventually I took the plunge to guitar which I have come to love playing so much more than piano/keyboards and in the beginning someone asked me if I wanted to learn rock guitar. I of course said, yes, and he said learn blues my friend learn the blue's scales like you know your own name and the rest will just fall into place. I quickly had to go out a purchase a Fender though my Les Paul I dearly loved it had to take a back seat to the Fender.

Kenneth Massey Sr Oh Yeah!!!!! I remember seeing & hearing them at the Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz festivals back in the early 1970s. I am thankful to be so fortunate to have witnessed such great performances in the day...
@ugosmith75296 жыл бұрын
A bit late for my reply but there were actually 4 kings, you forgot Earl King. His contributions, although not as extensive as the other 3 (also its Freddie King not Freddy), are not to be ignored. That being said, I would literally kill to have the tone that Albert and Freddie had when playing.

I am sooooooo addicted to this quintessential blues song with that haunting sax solo in the background.....and those sweet horn lines.....and we won't even go into the guitar solo by the inimitable Albert King! If I listen to this once.....I always end up playing it at least another 10 times before I can turn it off!

My Dad got the task of listening to incoming demos from the great guitarist, Steve Cropper. He heard this song (written by Jerry Beach) & immediately got it to Albert's producers. It became, along with "Born Under a Bad Sign", Albert's signature song. Greatest Blues guitarist ever! R.I.P. to your mom & Albert King.

Albert king is the man I'm a white man I love the real blues. UPDATE... thank you to everyone who responded to my comment. I would like to add to my earlier comment. I purposely added my skin color to see what kind of replies I would receive. And most of them have been spot on. I truly wish the entire world would see each other as brothers and sisters and not judge each other by our skin color. Music is color blind and so am I. Peace ✌️
