86 Ski Nautique Restoration (Part 16 Test Run Trouble)

We patch a slit in the hull, reinstall the prop shaft and give this boat a test run.

Don’t think that shaft is in the coupler far enough. Won’t comment on the marine tex repair since you already know it’s not the right job. Looks like a lot of gelcoat cracked around that area. May have taken a bigger hit than you think it took. Upholstery looks fantastic

Great restorations you’ve done. I have a 1991 ski nautique like the yellow one and mine needs a motor. It’s been sitting for 6 years. I’m in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and The 351w is hard to come by

The shaft coupling that has the square head bolts you tightened needs to be safety wired. That's why they have the hole drilled in the head of the bolt.

Send the prop out to Delta Props. Used them several times, unfortunately, and they do good work. PS don’t run too much w bent prop. Too much vibration.

Prop has been repaired (video coming). I did not run it anymore than what you see in the video. Runs great now.

If you still have the vibration after the prop repair you have a bent shaft. Maybe.

So sorry to hear about the prop shaft and the prop. Engine sounds money! I am currently waist deep restoring a 1980 ski nautique. I have removed most of the floor and it looks like I am going to have to replace the stringers. What do you do!
